Sixth grader Ally Nickerson has always dreaded school. She’s been called “dumb” and “loser” by her fellow students and considered a troublemaker by her teachers. She’s great at math and art but she’s never let anyone know her darkest secret: She can’t read. Everything changes when she gets a new teacher, Mr. Daniels, and befriends two other misfits at school, Keisha and Albert. Mr. D realizes that Ally has dyslexia and helps her learn to read and see the value of her creative mind. Her new friends help her realize there’s a lot more to people than first meets the eye. This is an emotional and uplifting story about celebrating the uniqueness in everyone.

What does each "Mind Movie" reveal about Ally?
page 68: Dragonfly on a Train Car
"I see a dragonfly with brilliant greenish-blue wings and tiny goggles over its eyes.
The car is old with dark wood walls and dark green curtains. Like from Grandpa's Westerns. And the people have old-fashioned clothes. I see them like they're with me now. Some of the men are sleeping. One is waving the dragonfly off with a newspaper, not even noticing its tiny goggles. Ladies with the most beautiful dresses sit there too.
And I see a girl who is with her mother, and her mother keeps asking the girl if she is enjoying the ride and the girl keeps saying yes, being sure to have a happy-sounding voice.
I don't know everything about the girl, but I do know that she has a lot more to worry about than an insect on a train. She doesn't fit in. She's all dressed up in fancy clothes and has to pretend to be someone she's not. She wants to muck around. Help build fences. She wants to ride a horse the real way - not sidesaddle like her mother insists."

We have gotten to know Travis throughout the book. On page 26, we learned about Travis’s hopes and dreams (to open an auto shop). Later, Ally approached him for help with homework and he said he wouldn't be any help with it. What else do we know about Travis? What can we infer about him based on what we have read so far?
