I need to find how much Joe has and how much Bob has in all after getting the dog food. I must multiply Bob´s amount by two to get Joe´s amount of dog food. Then I need to add Joe´s amount and Bob´s amount. Then I turn that amount of do food into a decimal and round the tenth place. Therefore, the answer is 19.6.

I know that Bob already has 5 7/8 pounds of dog food. Joe gives all his dog food to Bob, which is 2 1/3 times Bob's original amount, 5 7/8 pounds. So I should multiply 2 1/3 and 5 7/8 to get 13 17/24. However, the problem asks for the total amount of dog food that Bob has. So we must also take the original 5 7/8 into account. So, I will add 13 17/24 and 5 7/8 to get 19 14/24. Now I have to convert the fraction into a decimal and round it to the nearest tenth. That would be 19.6. So, Bob now has about 19.6 pounds of dog food.

To find the total amount of dog food, I have to multiply 5 7/8 times 2 1/3. The product of that is 13 17/24 . But I am not done. I must convert this into a decimal and round it to the nearest tenth. When I convert that into a decimal and multiply the answer by 17, my nearest tenth is 0.7. Now I need to add 5 7/8 to 13.7. 5 7/8 is 5.875. 13.7 + 5.875 = 19.575. 19.575 rounded to the nearest tenth is 19.6

I can multiply 2 1/3 to 5 7/8 to find the amount Bob is getting from Joe. When I multiply, I get 13 7/24 so I know that Bob is getting 13 17/24 pounds more dog food. When I add 5 7/8 to 13 17/24 I get 19 7/12 so in total Bob has19 7/12 pounds of dog food. That equals 0.6 so the answer is Bob has 19.6 pounds of dog food.

I know that Bob is receiving all of Joe's dog food which is 2 1/3 of Bob's beginning amount. I also know that Bob had 5 7/8 pounds to start off with. And when I hear the word, OF, I know that I need to multiply. Therefore, I multiplied 5 7/8 by 2 1/3 to get the product of 13 17/24 pounds of dog food. And when rounded to the nearest tenth I the decima is, 70.83.
