I remember lighting a qulliq in middle school, my Inuktitut teacher Leesee akulukjuk was lighting it and we all took turns using it and keeping it lit while getting a picture taken, it was very peaceful and exciting being taught about the qulliq. We got to connect with our culture and ancestors when we kept it lit and it was very heartwarming to have experience it at school.
