My mom also shared with me that during her high school experience in 1995 they used word processors. She found them to be valuable to the learning experience because they required students to master their grammar. She said that they would type their essays on word processors to be printed out. After proof reading they would have to retype the entire essay due to word processors not having any memory tools. She said that by retyping the entire essay students were more likely to try to master their grammar the first time.

My dad went to high school in 2005. He said his favorite technology was also the calculator, but for him it wasn't cheating. Calculators were allowed to be used during classwork. He said it was his favorite because it made sure there were less mistakes and allowed him to focus on the harder parts in math class.
