I wish it was just the smell that still loiterd in my mind but it came with all the six senses. The situation I wanted to leave so bad never left.

finally left six form and was imminet to my independance when i decided i was going to stay at a air bnb in japan for a while as i used up thsat time to conserve money. I had (have) a bad habit of liking the first thing i see (not love at first sight) but when it came to buying clothes or in this case: Air bnb
Saw it, bought it, and waited
The day I booked had to be on a muadlin inclement evening at 1 O'clock
I was told from the Host that they were going to send thier daughter to collect me.
When she arrived her courteous words made me stiff and the side of the scale that bore my nervousness was hoplessly weightend.
Shoulder to shoulder walking through soflty speacking foreigners, as if we were friends. I vacillated in completly beliveing in my thoughts of actions as I struggled in my brand new high heels. I felt the scrutiny from the throngs of people while trying my best to be furtive, I straightened my posture and and tried to fit into the society with my red high heels.
When we arrived, I divided my time to staring at the house and the daughters complaisant smile that disapearred when I saw her the second time round though as I somewhat dervied some primal satisfaction from it. My baggage seemed to airy loosing all its content.
We turned away from the front cold reseption, I followed her up through the tatami panels, passed the mahogany furniture. As the daughter left I tried to slip in a thank you, thankfully she turned around and also tried to slip in a smile but her dark attentive face made my baggage heavier again.
I opended the tatami doors when a dull feeling rubbed my heart, the lump in my throut grew drier when I felt chagrin. To inur from yourself - I felt sick.
While I stood feeling ignominous , scanning the room only rubbed salt into my wound.
The room smelled abandoned and so was its state. The room was stuffed with empty used food packages and boxes as well as drink bottles pilled up in the corner that seemed to have no plan of getting cleaned out any time soon, questionable manga comics layed battered with missing pages and used bits and bobs filled in the gaps on the floor that were unexplainable.
The stomach-churning room left me with one option, to find the daughter.
I permited myself to leave and ran down the corridor to what seemed like a tunnel with no light at the end. Finding the daughter was easy but finding her heart sink cold and made me realise I had to get out of here quicky, leaving no heavy evidence of my attendance.

So the person who I was letting my house to seemingly had great reviews. He arrived to the house on time and made no fuss about anything and was very polite. He was staying only 3 nights. So everything was all ok.

I come back to the house after a few days and see that he's still there. And this is the state he left the room in. He was there for 3 days. I didn't realize you could produce this much rubbish in only 3 days. He had also stained the carpet and pissed in multiple bottles despite the bathroom being a few metres away. I told him that his booking was over but refused to leave. I then threatened to call the police, to which he grabbed a bag under his bed and ran out the house. I contacted AirBNB to get compensation for this and they refused to give me anything. Never using airbnb again.

I’ve used Air BnB on several occasions and not once have I seen such a dilapidated and filthy state of such an apartment.

Considering that the location was relatively peaceful and has hosted hundreds of thousands tourists each year, I was exuberant to await my AirBnB flat for the weekend. The price was reasonable compared to it’s local rivals and the reviews seemed ok. Furthermore the owner promised me two T.Vs and the best view than others which I was pleased to hear. I was really looking forward to my weekend break since life recently had been really stressful for me, consequently I even arrived three hours early before check in to explore the town and eat some grub. My expectations were high and so did my initial thoughts match. The people were welcoming and really friendly.

After I had eaten and settled down, it took a 17 minute drive to reach the BNB. 17 minutes you thought? No! In fact I was driving around countless times around the flat thinking it was a neglected and abandoned house, just ready to disintegrate into the air. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I was in awe and horror when I heard the Sat Nav say “YoU HaVe ReAcHeD YoUr DeStInAtIoN🥸”. I think even a 6 month old child would have already memorised that phrase - the amount of times it stated that. In such flabbergast, I called the tenant to speak to him regarding whether I was in the right location and for further enquires; he eventually picked up the call after 6 times. I was starting to get uncomfortable and frustrated. I had wasted a lot of petrol and just wanted to rest for the day.

After a lengthy talk on the phone with the tenant, he told me that the keys were under the carpet mat outside and he rarely does this. It’s only if he’s away on a trip himself. I was already startled by my surroundings and started to question whether I should just see what it’s like inside since I live by the saying “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. I parked the car directly opposite to the place and slowly walked to the carpet. I took the keys for flat 4, opened the door and my God was the place tremendously filthy. In my whole 19 years of existence have I never seen such a run down interior and messy room in my life. Used food packets, bottles and all sorts of junk were overflowing the room. I simply got my phone out and snapped my view to the naked eye. I thought I was dreaming! I didn’t bother getting my belongings. It’s was not worth to stay there, so I drove to a local retail car park and slept in my car there for the night.

I posted my picture the following day on Twitter and was hosted to many likes and Retweets. I received a full refund and the owner was arrested. It was a bitter sweet moment. Unfortunately for me, I’m now diagnosed with a condition where I can’t breathe without assisted oxygen due to the nastiness I had inhaled when I viewed the BNB. I guess life is truly cruel.

On the contrary, I’ve received quite a bit of money from Go Fund Me and I’m still living my life. I certainly will be checking the reviews in detail and ask for live pictures in the BNB I stay in, if I ever go to one, that is.

We decided to take a private holiday in the middle of nowhere in some town in Greece, and granted, the villa itself exceeded expectations, something out of a movie, pure perfection. The setting, the view, the functionality, it was all just too good to be true. However, the price didn't sit right with me. You'd expect a rate of £1,600/night not £220!

The rooms were huge, the balcony was awesome and it had an immense infinity pool. The only fault was that there was a horrendous smell in some of the rooms, similar to a truck-load of decomposing cheeses. We met the owner and he was a pretty dodgy bloke. He had really uneven facial hair and he was really frail. He had extremely wide eyes and sounded like a chain-smoker. He wouldn't take his eyes off my friend and I, and he was really brief in description; quite quiet.

He left no rules, he just gave us a few things to do each day -- ya know, things like air con, washing, things like that. However, he just looked so uncomfortable. When he'd gone, we spent time in the pool and checked out the house in full. We chose to stay away from the bottom floor because we couldn't spend a minute down there without dry retching. The middle floor was sick, absolutely flawless; however it was what you would consider the living space, so I expected nothing less. Shortly after we looked upstairs. For some reason, he wouldn't take us upstairs even though that was where the beds are. There were 2 bedrooms and we claimed one each before taking a look inside. I took the one next to the stairs and my friend took the one a bit further down the corridor. I opened my door and the room was cool. It didn't fit in with the rest of the house, but it had a comfy bed so that was fine by me at the time. My friend on the other hand screamed at the sight of his room. He walked round to mine using his shirt as a face mask and said nothing, just stared at me. I went to look myself, and to my surprise I saw blood up the walls before I even entered the room. I went in and I saw two lifeless bodies on the floor. It looked as though my friend had opened the closet and these two corpses had fallen out. I then went into the en suite bathroom, which my friend hadn't checked and found two more, one completely disembowelled. the 2 in the bedroom were folded over each other however, there was no sign of brutality on either corpse. The bathroom looked like an operation gone wildly wrong. The sink was running with the guts of a bloke hanging over the edge. The bathtub was filled the top with human remains with one of the bodies inside. They were all older men of eastern European descent. None looked similar; the only trend was age.

We were out of there in seconds. We made sure no one was nearby, then raced to the next town, which was a much larger, and found public accommodation.

What a waste. This place was perfect and it was ruined by that. So tragic and traumatic. I'll never forget it, for all the wrong reasons.

This was probably the last time I ever used Airbnb in my life because this experience left me traumatised. For a while now my friend and I have been planning to go to Greece so we finally built up the courage to do it. On the website everything seemed alright and fine the pictures of the ‘Airbnb’ were lovely the rooms were very spacious and bright so I was really looking forward to staying there.

Fast forward to the day that we were leaving for the ‘Airbnb’, the travelling was fine and we had no problems at all once we arrived we booked a taxi to get to our rooms. It was about an half an hour drive but it was fine everything seemed like it was going to be okay.

Are taxi driver then pulls up to the side of the road and says “this is your destination”. We were a bit confused because all the buildings around us didn’t look anything like the pictures so we got out the car and sat on the edge of the pavement since we were absolutely drained and had no energy.

We then started phoning the Airbnb owner so he could help us out and show us where we’re staying but after two hours of consecutively ringing his phone we got no answer so we sat there thinking how dumb we were to try out Airbnb for the first time and for it to be just the two of us on our own. By now it was very dark outside and we couldn’t see a single thing so we started to get worried and started to make assumptions about how we might get kidnapped, however finally one of the street lights turned on so we could see a lot clearly. We look over to our right and see a mattress, dresser and table and immediately thought a homeless person lived there and thought how creative because it looked exactly like a little room.

We thought that enough was enough we needed somewhere to sleep and we also need a refund of our £1000 that just went down the drain, so we called Airbnb so they could at least report this host and try and get a refund. However, they then proceeded to say that it wasn’t their problem and said it was a personal problem. This left us absolutely furious because, it was not our fault at all that we were sitting on the side of the street for about three hours now. Until, we get a call from a unknown number so we opened it and it turned out to be the Airbnb owner my friend was on the phone, she then began to scream her lungs out at him and believe it or not he started laughing which just infuriated us even more he then said “your room was there the whole time” we were a bit confused we didn’t know what he meant we couldn’t see any room around us except for that little room that we assumed someone homeless owned as though we thought. He then began to say “the MATRESSSSS” and when I tell you my heart really sank to the booth of my body being shocked wasn’t even the word to describe how my friend and I were feeling.

I don’t know if I forgot to mention but we got there at 01:00 in the morning it was now 04:30. The sun began to rise, we were absolutely knackered since we got not a minute to even shut our eyes and sleep because, we were to paranoid that we might get kidnapped. By now the sun had risen and that’s when we took this picture to report this person and to refrain him from trying to ever do this to anyone else, since the experience was so traumatic and horrifying.

We then immediately booked a flight home because we just had enough of all this so once we had that sorted we called our credit card company to see if they could do anything about the refund and they managed to get out money back thankfully.

This will be the last time I will ever mention this experience since it had mentally scarred me for life.

I was booking a holiday in Germany and saw that it would be cheaper to fly to France then Germany. So I booked this nice looking AirBnB for the night. The person who i tried to buy it off was super shady as he never responded to my messages so i wasn't even sure if he knew i was coming. Luckily he did send one message last minute just letting me know everything was ok. I got the France and told him I would be arriving soon. No answer. I call him. No answer. So I decide to just go to the house and see if he's there. I got to the house and miraculously he was there. Fully drunk. He gave me a quick tour and showed me the bedroom and showed me this. I asked why all the beds were covered in tin foil. He ignored the question my mumbling but then told me to not take them off because it's dangerous. I asked why. No answer. He left me the keys and went. i then took the tin foil off to see hundreds of bed bugs in the bed. I freaked out and left before taking this photo. I then just got a hotel.

I called him telling him i got a hotel and he got angry at me. I told him of the bed bugs and he shouted at me saying that he told me not to take it off. I contacted AirBnB and told them about the situation and sent pictures. They then informed me that i was being charged by the guy who's house i rented for damage of property. I told them about the situation and thankfully they took my side and didn't charge me and i got a full refund. Don't know whatever happened to the guy but i saw his account was gone. And now I'm kind of weary to use Airbnb again.

Since I got accepted into a university away from home, I had to look for an affordable place to live. While I was searching for properties the thought of staying in a place like you see on the show about hoarders never crossed my mind. I had always imagined that 99% of the population would treat their home with some amount of respect.

While looking for a place to live, I would go on multiple different websites and search the same thing, 1 bedroom apartment. All the pictures of each property looked clean and tidy. Since I was still in college, I didn’t have the time or energy to visit the flat before investing in it. That was a mistake on my part.

I moved in one week before uni started. The moment I stepped in the door, the smell slapped me in the face. I thought I could hear the smell, like it was screaming at me to run away. The smell was scared of itself.

I would like to call myself a traveller. I like to explore different countries AND different cultures, and I would usually book a Air BnB since I like the freedom of being in a house by myself instead of being stuck in a small hotel room where most of the space is taken from the bed for a stupidly high price.

But this time i wish i went to a hotel never in my life i've i seen anything like this, i mean from the pictures that the owners posted i felt like i was getting one of the best deals of my life, but as soon i was putting the key into the door i knew i f****d up, the key was struggling itself into the door i felt like i was solving a puzzle to open the door. and two steps into the house i look to my right and thats the "modern marble kitchen top" with "black glass kitchen stove", i mean that probably is the modern marble kitchen top im meant to be having but it didnt say that it came with 2 months of trash dumped all over it and on the floor. but the funniest thing of them all is that you dont know how i took this picture, i had to walk through meters of trash it felt like quicksand it was just getting deeper by the step. but overall the kitchen was the only problem and i kind of laughed it off with the owner as he called someone to clean it up the next day but oh god i feel bad for them to be cleaning that up i wouldnt even clean that for a 3000 pound, oh i lied by the way the whole house was a mess, i wish the kitchen was the only mess, the bedroom has the bed frame in position with the mattress standing up on the wardrobe with red hand prints all over it, and im saying "red" as i dont want to believe that it was blood because i while end up throwing up as i needed to sleep on it because it was a very late night i needed my sleep.

The thing that honestly left me in shock was that the bathroom was squeaky clean and i was really confused at first and im still confused on how the whole house could look like an absolute trash can but the bathroom is looking like a 7stars penthouse in Dubai.

But overall i might just leave it a very good review just so that one more person can go through what i had to go through, horrible experience.

This had to be one of the worst experiences ive ever had with an Airbnb. My friends and I were looking for somewhere to crash after our New Years antics In New York, so we decided to book an Airbnb. However this occurrence left my friends and I distruaght. We had made the mistake of booking without viewing first and its lesson learnt - we were
young and senseless what else did you expect?

That early Sunday morning I fumbled the key into the keyhole and turnt the lock. As I unbolted the the door we were all greeted with a repulsive sell and sight. We were appalled to believe this was where we had to stay the night; my friends were disgusted at the sight and smell also that they both vomitted at the threshold. My legs were just as perplexed as i were, as they began to shake in fear. Never the less, we stepped to investigate what layed beyond the door.
We were appalled at what lay beyond us. The walls shed paint and plaster as it rotted at the foundation, The chewd sofa had spinge missing from its body, as if a hungry lion didnt enjoy its catch and left ot there to die after a few bites ; whilst the sofa died leisurely in centre of what was supposed to be a living area, it sawllowed used condoms, documents and filth. A befouled light bulb flickered a tiny source of light whilst it depended on a small wire that hung on the ceiling to save it from being plonked into the sea of dirt below. My friends an i began to gag and endure a dirty sense upon or skin as we trampled over sludge above decaying 'carpet' that was once installed on the ground.

Cobwebs made our noses itch as it mingled with the dust in the air. What was once brown cabinets and furniture had been abandoned, the spine of the cabined was fractured and stuck out like a sore thumb. The drawers had been demolished as each piece was scattered around the 'living space'

I booked a holiday to Canada so I could visit the Moraine Lake which I only received good great comments on, so I was quite excited for me to visit. Instead of booking a hotel I decided to book an Airbnb because it would be a better value for money, well so I thought.
The Airbnb host seemed quite nice and had quite a few good reviews so I felt confident spending $900 a night and ready for my trip. After the plane lands in Canada the cold hit on a new level, something I was not ready for so in a hurry I called a cab. As we arrive I see a peculiar looking man; stained clothes, scruffy hair, while smoking sitting on the step outside my supposed location. Turns out this man was my Airbnb host who gave me a key which broke in the key whole so i stood outside in the freezing for a sold 7 minutes trying to get in.
Instead of being welcomed to a nice living space I was welcomed to an obstacle course just dirt everywhere it was almost impossible to navigate through that area.

He’s horrible.

A complete nightmare.

You can’t blame me for wanting some extra money. Work wasn’t going so well, and my friend’s birthday was coming up soon. I was in a rut. I was cornered. Well, it doesn’t matter now. I did it. I rented out a room to a college student and will regret it every day for the rest of my life.

The signs showed themselves way early on; From talking to the guy online to when he actually got here. He was so eager to rent the room that he didn’t even look it twice over. I thought at least he didn’t seem that bad, well dressed and might be ok company if we avoided each other enough; but of course, just like anything else in this stupid world he just had to go and surprise me.

First, it was the clicking. Now you might not think it’s annoying on paper, and sure, it isn’t unless you hear it all the time. It followed me everywhere! From the early morning to when I was trying to sleep at night, all I could hear was the inherent clicking coming from his room. I’m not very imaginative, I thought maybe he was writing some stupid college essay but it Never. Stopped. I even hear it now as I am writing this and he’s not even here.

Being the good roommate I am, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And as if to reward me for my efforts he started screaming. He would blubber indecipherably as if these were cavemen times and everyone didn’t have google. I was almost joyous when he started to form his first words, it was like I was a happy parent hearing my child speak for the first time, except I wasn’t a parent, and the ‘child’ was a grown man. When he started forming full sentences, he’d shout god awful things that I definitely cannot write on this review. That mixed with his occasional war cries, I was getting quite concerned.

I thought maybe he needed company. All this time here and not a single visitor came over, and I’m not counting the pizza man, he’s probably memorized my address by now. I stopped outside his door and knocked.

No answer, just clicking. I knocked a few more times, without getting a response.

At this point, I was just frustrated it took me this long. I was not waiting any longer.

“That’s it, I’m going in.”

I was speechless, he was vulgar enough when we had a wall in between us; I had no idea how bad it would get once I was inside too. Now he’d gone back to screaming, I could see he was screaming into a microphone, and the clicking was his mouse and keyboard. Part of his pizza came shooting out of his mouth and right onto the microphone when he spoke, to which he glanced at and then ignored as it slowly slid off the mic. He hadn’t noticed me in the room yet, he reached out for this long stick that binmen use to pick up the trash and picked up another slice of pizza with it. Opening my mouth in shock was a mistake. The smell was so horrid you could taste it, and I gagged. Alerting him to me standing in the doorway.

He kind of just stared at me, like a deer caught in the headlights. One hand on the keyboard and one hand holding the stick, head halfway turned towards me and his mouth hanging open. I slowly looked around now, to all the trash in the room, the week old pizza boxes and dirty underwear on top of it.

I couldn’t bring myself to say much, I mumbled “Your week stay is over” and backed out of the room into the comfort of the corridor.

Overall, I rate the experience a 0/10. It took me a long time to get to where I am now and the journey was, well, a journey.

Have fun renting your next Air bnb.

653 words ^

My friend and I had booked to go see Giveon perform up in glastonbury and we knew that the drive would be long as well as the concert, so we decided to book a 2 night stay at an AirBnb. We originally wanted to stay in a hotel but it was too expensive along with the cost of the tickets.

When we arrived it was night so we were extremely tired. we were welcomed by the housekeeper and he showed us to our room. We booked a 2 single bright white room and what we were given was a white room with orange stains from what looked like pasta sauce, a dark room not bright because 2 out of the 3 lights were blown, two blow up beds not beds with a frame and a nice mattress but just a blow up bed wi Yh these stingy yellow sheets that looked like they had never been cleaned. The shower had hair stuck in the drain, and not a little but a lot, the toilet was blocked with poo sitting at the bottom. The sight of it made me gag. The sink was probably the only thing that was okay.

The shared space of the kitchen wasn’t even a kitchen space, it was a mess! There was trash everywhere on the floor and broken glass. It was like someone had and all out ape attack in here. The fresh food was all rotten and the cupboard food the would have been edible had been left open for insects to climb into.

Now I am a germaphobe, I may not always be clean but I can’t live in my own messiness for more that 2 days, I like to stay higenic and be clean at all times. But that is my messiness in my home. This isn’t my dirt and mess so therefore I could not stay and that house. My friend agreed and we decided to sleep in the car. As soon as we woke up i emailed the landlord, sending him pictures and a complaint about the BnB and asked for a full refund, whilst my friend searched for a hotel to stay in.
