I’m sorry if this sounded sad but i really miss a band called iz*one(they have disbanded). So i’m making this to help some of you who may not know them.Iz*one was a South Korean–Japanese multinational girl group formed through the Mnet reality competition show “produce 48”.They consisted of twelve members:Jang Won-young,Sakura Miyawaki, Jo Yu-ri, Choi Ye-na, An Yu-jin, Nako Yabuki, Kwon Eun-bi, Kang Hye-won, Hitomi Honda, Kim Chae-won, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Chae-yeon.Now,i don’t know about you but i really like energetic and lively song.If you have the same music taste as me,i totally recommend their songs(especially panorama) or you could just listen to them if you’re feeling down in general

Music expressing queerness has long been a fascination of mine due to its unique and charismatic nature, one of my favorite artists Ashnikko is the embodiment of that. She is known for her eccentric looks and raunchy music videos and she is open about her sexuality and her political opinions, which I consider very admirable of her. She also has a wide variety of genres of music but she is most known for her hip-hop/pop songs as they are very catchy and truly embody the term "queer expression". During interviews, her blunt sense of humor together with her brightly colored hair gives viewers a sense of her electric and kooky personality. All in all, she is an amazing artist and although her music is an acquired taste, I encourage you to try and read about her inspirations as well as influences.

My knowledge of the world of celebrities is scarce as I don't have much interest in music nor it is my forte, but if I have to choose a favourite singer - that is, a singer whose works I enjoy the most - it will be Taylor Swift. I adore the sweet girl who is portrayed in love songs as simple as any other girl, I admire the strong woman who dares to stand up for her own rights, a singer who never gives up despite all the hardships and criticism she faces with. I learnt her stories not from the point of view of the masses but from the very words in the lyrics that she put her heart into, the melodic tunes that I usually find myself reveling in and, sometimes humming to unconsciously. Anyway here is a pic of Taylor and her cat. People buying her album said they found cat hair, which is thought to be her cat's.

Being a casual Kpop listeniner, I am familiar with famous groups like BTS, Blackpink, Aespa, Stray Kids…; however, my favorite Kpop group is actually among the smaller groups - Golden Child. The name speaks for itself, they are super talented and have some of the best sounds in the industry (not even biased). The sole reason that I adore them so much is because their music often expresses the journey of finding oneself, hopelessness and hopefullness - topics that I rarely see in Kpop. I would recommend notable songs in their discography like Burn It, Wannabe, Without you… Also, having a fav artist/group that you can turn to after a long day, relaxing, finding joy again and enjoying music is a must!

Sleeping At Last’s music is fascinating. Generally, a typical SAL song would have 60% of its duration taken up by instrumentals only, but that is what makes their songs so special. SAL music touches on untouched spots of your soul. It brings back memories that you don’t even know exist within yourself. It dances with your thoughts and gently caresses your heart.

SAL’ songs conveys big messages about the small things in the universe. Im always moved by the poetic lyrics, yet the feelings it brings are homey and never flashy.

You can cry to SAL music! Works very well in provoking emotions lmao

i discovered Lorde in grade 7th through her sophomore album Melodrama. needless to say, the album was a whole vibe, and here, i quote, a saying from Lorde herself about the creation of Melodrama "It's about distilling emotions down to their sleekest, shiniest and simplest form, and if you do that successfully, it's like shooting up the cleanest drug imaginable. It's not cut with anything; it's just so simple it goes straight to your brain" (Lorde also revealed that she was on MDMA during the making of the album). her discography was relatively small at the time, so it was easy for me to go through all of her tracks (I think we have the tendency to gatekeep ourselves from identifying as someone's fan before looking through every single creation of theirs) (or is it just me?). in august 2020, Lorde released her third album Solar Power, which glowed with reverence and really showcased her maturity (the 4-year wait was worth it).
[a photo of Lorde for the Billboard cover in 2018(?), and my current lockscreen]
- Minh Thư

I’m a fan of NCT, which is a Kpop boygroup from SM Entertainment. The group consists of 3 small fixed units: NCT 127, NCT Dream and WayV (there's also NCT U but it's not fixed), and has unlimited number of members (now the number is 22 but more members can be added in the future). All of them are extremely talented, good-looking and funny. They release new content and shows literally every single day, and none of them fails to make me laugh out loud. I really appreciate their genuine care for their fans, known as NCTzens (citizens of Ncity), and also the fact that they give us so many inspirational quotes and motivation. To be honest, when I'm going through hard times, their videos are what I turn to so as to recharge my energy and feel encouraged again. Although there are a lot of members, they have great teamwork and their voices harmonize well with one another. Their music is usualy regarded as experimental, non-mainstream music, so not everyone can take an instant liking to their songs, but after a few listens, they can sound really good. Their discography is diverse and each song delivers its own message.

I'm a staunch supporter of a rising female artist named Gracie Abrams. She's a relatively new artist considering that she released her first debut single 'Mean It' in October 2019. I happened to discover Gracie's music through my all-time favorite action movie - Mission Impossible as one of the directors of that movie is J. J Abrams, who is Gracie's father. I love Gracie not only because she is the most relatable celebrity to ever exist :), but also because of her soulful voice and lyrics. I love how all of gracie's music feels like thoughts jotted down on crinkled lined paper stuffed in a nightstand filled with words you wish you could say but never had the courage to. All of her songs are perfect to jam to when you are feeling a bit down in the dumps since the sad emotions along with her husky voice will definitely resonate with your negative feelings tehe >< anyways, i really recommend checking out her discography if you want to have a cry session at 2 in the morning :)

If I have to choose only one favorite artist, I’d like to pick out Taylor Swift (actually both BTS and Taylor Swift are my number-one artists of all time but I’d prefer to introduce Taylor Swift to you). With her enormous popularity worldwide, the name Taylor Swift definitely rings a bell even if you don’t know exactly who she is and what she does. So what makes a name for herself? Well, as one of the biggest Swifties (Taylor Swift’s fandom), I wanna say it’s because she’s amazing in every way, but I get the sense that won’t do it. Instead, I’m gonna say she rose to fame and won the music lovers’ heart by her out-of-the-world songwriting ability, her thought-provoking lyrics, especially her feel-like-reverie melodies that never fail to give me goosebumps. In Swift’s own words, “When I write a song, it’s usually me just trying to get past something and understand something I’m going through by writing about it and that was definitely the case when I wrote the next song that I’m going to play.” - she’s written and produced her own songs based on her personal experience. That’s why her music is down-to-earth and a great many people can relate to Taylor’s songs - I’m not the exception. A lot of people assume that Taylor Swift only writes songs about love, relationships, break-ups and believe she would never give up trying to disparage her ex-lovers in her songs and therefore insult her. There are countless artists writing songs about their exes too, why do the public only criticize Taylor Swift? Along with having personal songs, she keeps changing. You never know what to expect when it comes to Taylor Swift. Who knows, she could drop a rap album tomorrow and I wouldn’t be surprised since she keeps everyone on their toes. I’d like to stop here, please excuse my lengthy answer. Thanks for reading!

When it comes to picking a playlist to listen to while studying, I’d always opt for Ariana Grande’s. She was born on June 26, 1993 in Italy, but soon moved to America with her mom and noona. She is a singer, songwriter, actress and currently she is part of the coaches of The Voice US. I adore her music for her excellent discography, and the fact that she isn’t afraid to try out differents genres of music and to collab with other famous artists.
From my pov, she is undoubtedly one of the best vocalists of this generation. With an astounding vocal range of four octaves and the ability to master tonnes of vocal techniques, she is definitely a powerhouse and one wouldn’t expect so since she is only 5ft3, with a small body shape😭
Her music is usually pop, which makes sense why many people including me find it catchy, and she pours her own heart into each and every lyrics. For example, “One Last Time” tells you about her regret and grief over the horrible bombing in Manchester while she was on tour😔I believe she is a wonderful messager of emotion and that alone, gives her the number 1 spot in my heart.
Additionally, she is genuinely funny, humble and especially caring. She is also eager about charities, LGBTQ+ and Black Lives Matter campaigns, pet rescues and shelters, etc. Fun fact, she once made(?) a funeral for a snail she unintentionally stepped on and showed how bad she felt after that💀💀💀
She is an icon, she is a legend, and she is the moment, periodt💅

I listen to a wide range of music so I don’t have a favorite artist in particular, but there is one person that stands out from the rest, that is one of my best friends. When he raises his voice, it is very hard to ignore. His voice is usually “ mezzo-soprano” but when it reaches a very high note, it probably sounds like Justin Bieber having a sore throat (kind of an exaggeration though). He can sing both female and male voice and cater for many genres. He usually starts singing whenever he feels like it, whether it is nap time for everyone or in a Literature lesson. But there’s one thing I especially like is when he sings, he can make many people sing along as well. It seems like he has the ability to “ inspire” others to sing. For instance, when I was in 8th grade, we were having an important basketball match. The first half, we played bad and we were down by a lot. But in the second half, he randomly started to sing and we sang along. That somehow inspired us to make a comeback and win the match. So, these are the reasons why he is my favorite singer.

P.S: sorry i don’t have any photos of him:(

I wasn't into Kpop at first, but now I'm obsessed with Stray Kids (SKZ) - a Kpop boy group under JYP entertainment. The group consists of 8 members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Han, Hyunjin, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N, they are all incredibly talented (and good-looking too). Not only are they amazing performers but they are also extremely funny and entertaining. Felix, in particular, has an impressively deep voice that contrasts sharply with his sweet and bubbly personality, which is why he is my bias. The fact that their slogan is "You make Stray Kids stay" just shows that they genuinely cherish Stays (the fandom's name) as much as we wholeheartedly love and support them. Their music is labeled as “loud music” by haters, so they released an album called “Noeasy”(Australian slang for noisy) to prove that they are not easily shaken by such criticism.
You could say that Stray Kids are not your "typical Kpop idols", for a significant number of their songs possess deeper meanings, in which they depict various topics that are often considered sensitive such as depression, stress, anxiety, or teenage social problems. The hardships and adversities they encountered during their trainee and survival show days were expressed in the lyrics of their pre-debut song "Hellavator"; whereas the track "Levanter" was when they laid their hearts bare, marking an end to all of their self-denial as well as past struggles in an attempt to open up a new road full of hopes and possibilities. Levanter is my favorite SKZ track. The emotions in the song feel so exceptionally raw and real that they brought me to tears the first time I listened to the song. My interpretation of the line "I'm listening to my heart, let it guide me" is that they declared to forge their own paths and define their own fate. Throughout their idol career, Stray Kids has constantly illustrated their versatility along with their talent in rapping, dancing, and singing. I know for a fact that Stray Kids are passionate, dedicated artists, and not once have I not enjoyed their content. Upon rising to stardom, they faced numerous difficulties, but they emerged from those obstacles as emotionally stronger individuals. Those that say Stray Kid's music is "not that deep", are literally making a fool of themselves. I am proud to say that I stan a visual group with all 8 all-rounded members, simply saying "being a Stay is a blessing" is an understatement. I recommend listening to their most popular songs like God's Menu or Backdoor, but if you have the time then you should check out some of their more underrated songs such as Phobia and Voices (these songs seriously need more appreciation).

♡ ✩°｡⋆ "You make Stray Kids Stay"+" Stray Kids everywhere all around the world" ✩°｡⋆ ♡

(Sorry if this is a bit lengthy, I'm just really passionate about SKZ (•◡•) /)

I would like to introduce IU (which means you and I are connected through music) – a Korean singer under EDAM Entertainment. She was born in 1993 and her real name is Lee Ji Eun. She debuted in 2008 when she was only 15, and now she has become one of the most successful Korean singers. She is also called ‘‘the nation’s little sister’’ in Korea. She is, in my opinion, a great singer. She has a unique, angelic voice, amazing singing techniques and she is able to hit very high notes. Additionally, her songs are catchy, meaningful, and emotional. Most of her songs are kinda slow and relaxing, different from what most people would think of a Kpop song. The instrumentals are gorgeous. They sound like being played by a whole orchestra. One of her most famous songs is “Good Day” (2010) and she also has a series of songs telling the stories of her life: “Twenty-three” (2015, when she is 23 in Korean age), “Palette” (2017, when she is 25) and “Eight” (2020, when she is 28). Recently, I am obsessed with her other 2 songs “Love Poem” (2019) and “My Sea” (2021). Moreover, IU has a bright personality. She is very friendly (she is friend with many other celebrities) and generous. She has done numerous charity work for underprivileged children in Korea. A fun fact is that she once left some seconds at the end of her vlog to give viewers information about a missing child 💕. Besides being a great vocalist, she is a great actress too. She plays in well-known K-Dramas such as Dream High (2011), Moon Lovers (2016), and Hotel Del Luna (2019). Thank you for reading and I hope you can try listening to her songs.

“Be you, be unique, be crazy, you’re beautiful”

This is one of the mantras I live by, which I genuinely take to heart. It is the artist who said this that I admire and respect so much – Ten (yes that is not a number, that is his name). He has made his debut in several groups: NCT, WayV, and SuperM, all of which are under the management of SM Entertainment. His position is the main dancer and lead vocalist of these groups. Born in 1996 in Thailand, he started young in his career as his burning passion for the art of performance has been evident since his childhood years. The very first thing you need to know about this man is that he is crazily talented. Having a starting point as a top-notch dancer, he is also gaining recognition as an adequate vocalist. He has an exceptional capability for dancing and choreographing, both gifted and earned from hard work. I can boast of him being on the shortlist of the best dancers in Kpop. His moves are gracefully executed, yet extremely powerful and mesmerizing. He might be a bit short (1m72 specifically), but that does not affect the perfect body line when he dances. He is passionate about dancing more than anything else in the world (it’s not my personal assumption, it’s just fact). On top of that, how his galaxy mind and soulful, innermost feeling express themselves through his art and drawings never failed to amaze me. In the deepest hole of moroseness lies the inspiration for art. I believe he experienced both ups and downs in his career, and he resorts to art to get himself out of that hole. In the quest for hidden messages behind his drawings, I find myself confronting emotions and thoughts of my own. It’s hard to put into words the way his drawings motivate me and tell me to keep trying, but I must thank him a lot. Another fun fact is that he is quadrilingual (polyglot soon-to-be), fluent in Thai - his mother tongue, English, Korean, and Mandarin. I haven’t gotten to comprehend how his brain processes that much information while I am still here struggling with my broken English. And as you can guess, I am a huge fan of him, a 10vely. (lovely is the most frequently used word when he speaks so the fans came up with this wordplay, quite genius of them, right?)

[a drawing of what life means in his point of view]

I have long been an avid enjoyer of rock. The magnificent solos of AC/DC, the tranquilizing riffs of Creedence Clearwater Revival, the thought provoking lyrics of The Rolling Stones, the soothing melodies of Scorpions all made my childhood. However, for me, it is Queen that offer all of the above, yet somehow remaining intriguingly eccentric. To be honest, I don’t think Queen need an introduction, but as the assignment requires, they are a band from England consisting of vocalist Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon. Queen have been credited with contributing significantly to genres such as heavy metal and hard rock. Although they are best known for the idiosyncratic hit “Bohemian Rhapsody” or the galvanizing “We Are The Champions”, other works such as “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Under Pressure”, “Another One Bites The Dust”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and “I Want To Break Free” should not go unknown, and rightly so. My personal favourites include “Somebody To Love” and “Love Of My Life” as to me, both are incredibly relatable and sentimental. Queen went on to be one of the, if not the most widely known rock band. Freddie’s voice and energy could shake thousands live on stage, elicit from them emotions ranging from misery, grief to euphoria, and quite possibly, changed the lives of those fortunate enough to have been graced by his angelic voice. Sadly, as fate would have it, Freddie Mercury passed away due to complications of AIDS, bringing an end to what was unassailably a legendary career. In any case, I would definitely recommend Queen to those who have never heard of them, as Queen have a song for everybody.

Selena Gomez

I believe that I grew up listening to Selena Gomez. She has always been my role model. Selena Marie Gomez is an American singer and actress. Born and raised in Texas, Gomez began her acting career on the children's television series Barney & Friends. At the age of 29, she has launched her own make up line and hit it off with a bang. In July 2021, TooFab ranked Rare Beauty the eighth most successful celebrity-founded beauty brand, with $60 million in revenue. That's very impressive in my opinion. Besides from being a successful businesswoman, she really makes her mark through her music career. Her songs literally touch my soul. She has been through A LOT. I literally meant A LOT, including toxic relationships, deadly disease, being bullied and shattered to pieces by the press. However, she learnt to move on, and focus on her family, career and hobbies. One of her songs, 'Lose you to love me' struck me as super meaningful. It coveys so much about her: that she had to let go of her past, her ex and toxic friends just to find her very own self. In the end, she succeeded, and the song 'Look at her now" was composed. In my opinion, who could hate Selena??? She is an entrepreneur, a feminist and an animal lover. She is exuberant, humble despite having achieved fame at such a young age <333. Moreover, she is Taylor's bestfriend. Pls support Selena cause she deserves love.
