         <title>Who was Nicolaus Copernicus?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nicolaus Copernicus was a renaissance man who revolutionised astronomy. Born 19th of February 1473 in Torun, Poland, Copernicus was a clergy man who also had a passion for science, especially medicine and mathematics and he took an interest in astronomy later on in his life. When he started studying astronomy, the standard model for the solar system at the time was the one created by second century astronomer, Ptolemy. This model placed earth at the center, with the sun and other  planets rotating around the earth. This was the standard Christian model as it was believed God would put his most special creation in the center, but this system was to complex and it didn’t work. So Copernicus created a theory about the cosmos. He placed the sun at the center of the cosmos, with the moon rotating around the earth, and earth rotating around the sun. This is the standard model we use today. He died May 24, 1543 at the age of 70 due to a stroke</div>]]></description>
