Extracurricular activities are a quintessential element of Australian education and from music and performance to sport and community service, the choices are near endless. Research indicates that there are many potential benefits from academic achievement to mental, physical and social well-being. However,   John Hattie (2009) suggests that it is likely that the effects from socioeconomic resources are more influential during the pre-school and early years of schooling. There are 2 factors that heavily influence Extra-curricular activities for students from families with lower social economic status.
