With the final week quickly approaching and many of senior high school students in Ibn Seina Integrated School is going to rest until January, the semester is coming to a rapid close. This was arguably a difficult semester for me and for some other senior high school students, who have had to adjust under after unprecedented circumstances. This is my Journey in first semester following a global pandemic that is COVID-19.
First of all, I would like to note the great efforts of the Ibn Seina Integrated School Foundation by teachers and students to adapt in after the Covid-19 Pandemic. Although, after the "new normal education" it was difficult to adjust to normal education, especially for us students. This semester has been a time of growth for many people, myself included. Living in a new environment seemed uncomfortable, but it has grown me a lot as a person and I've learned a lot so much about myself.
One way I've grown as a person has been through classes. I got to know disciplines that I had never studied before and that have changed the way I see the world. That's what I like so about the normal approach to learning. You can learn a lot about subjects that you won't find in highschool, it makes you appreciate studies you never thought you'd learn.
My oral communication taught me about the different ways of communicating with other people. KPWKP taught me many things that I didn't know I would learn in school. Pre-Calculus introduces me to many things about mathematics, it makes me realize that my knowledge is very little. Practical Research has taught me about how to do research with many people. Finally, Reading and Writing skills improved my essay writing and taught me to read critically. Those lessons were valuable at this point in my life.
Another way I've experienced personal growth has been making friends with many diverse backgrounds. Many of my new friends in Ibn Seina are from many parts of Marawi City, I grew up in a rural area but learned a lot from the experience of my friends in the city. At first, I find it hard to adopt in this kind of environment, luckily, I can gradually adapt now. It's crazy to see the people you meet along your journey and how close you can become after a short period of time.
I have learned about the differences we all have (such as having a different lifestyles) and that differences are what makes my first semester enjoyable. Everyone has a story to tell, and everyone has experienced life differently. When you listen to people's stories about life, it makes you view the world more holistically --- this inspired personal growth for me.
Most importantly, I've learned that you can never predict what life throws at you. I've learned that it's not always fun. There will be days when you are study in your room at 12:00 p.m., stressed because exams are coming up the next day, and sometimes you find the value of being by yourself.
My first semester journey wa learning taught me that there are so many great things about senior high school, but if things don't quite go as you planned, that's okay too. There's always new people to meet, new experiences to make and new memories to make when you least expect it.
My first semester journey was a learning experience for me, and I think that is very valuable. I am very grateful for the friends Ibn Seina gave me, the lessons I learned and the lifelong experiences I have gained. From my classmates, teachers and the ustads. I can't say that Ibn Seina made my first semester journey easier, in fact it made it hard for me who is still adopting to this changed.
