Hello, I'm Miguel Mimoso and the song I chose is titled, “A Teen” by V.I.C. The reason I chose this song is that I identify a lot with it. It's a song that conveys the same barriers that I'm currently trying to break down, that goes through the same problems as me, and that deep down it all just wants to do his best to make his dream come true.

 This song talks about a 16 year old boy who never identified with school, and that the only thing in the world that makes him happy is following his dream, “I was thinking about what could make me better 'Cause these terms at school never made me clever”. Despite everything, I never really identified with school, even though I know I have to do it to be successful in the future. My dream is really what I loved to follow despite many people calling me crazy because it’s very difficult. A theme that the artist also expresses in his song, “Trying to find what happens at the highest esteem So I had a dream and a couple called me extreme”.

  In short, I'm just a teenager trying to follow his dream, who puts everything he has on the line to make it come true, “I'm just a teen, a boy with a dream In love with the flow, with a sight on the scene Not many know what it's like to be seen But I'm getting to know now, to know now.”

The feelings that this image conveys to me are of calm and happiness. The natural beauty of the beaches and the blue ocean awaken in me a feeling of happiness and calm, because I think there is nothing better in this life than traveling and getting to know new countries and their own qualities.

The song "Hey Brother", by the singer Avicii, talks about the importance of siblings, but I interpret it as if it were about family in general. I have a great connection with my family, which is why I identify with this song. The author of the song says that family ties are more important than any other bond ("Know the water 's sweet but blood is thicker") and that there would be nothing we wouldn't do for our family ("There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do"), just as there would be nothing in this world I wouldn't do for them.

In conclusion, I relate with this song because it portrays precisely the love that is felt for family members, who in my case, are the most important people in my life.

Tenho uma grande conexão com a minha família, daí eu identificar-me com esta música.  My name is Matilde Passos, I'm seventeen years old and I live in Lisbon, Portugal. I study at Escola Básica e Secundária de Carcavelos, in the economics course and I am in my senior year. This painting, “The Persistence of Memory”, by Salvador Dalí, portrays a very precious part of everyone's life, which is time. I feel that time is something very precious, which we should all know how to organize and value. I feel like, as a teenager, life in general seems complicated in every aspect. In my case, I have school, I practice a sport, which is volleyball, I play the violin, I have tutoring and I still find time to study. I often feel like I don't have time for anything, despite being in my senior year, where the schedule is more flexible.

 The reason I chose this painting, by Salvador Dalí, is because of the symbolism of the melting clocks, which portray the passage of time in a different way.

Esta pintura, “A persistência da memória”, de Salvador Dalí, retrata uma parte muito preciosa na vida de todos, que é o tempo. Eu sinto que o tempo é algo muito precioso, que devíamos todos saber organizar e valorizar. Sinto que, na adolescência, a vida em geral, parece complicada em todos os aspetos. No meu caso, tenho escola, a prática de um desporto, que é o voleibol, toco violino, tenho explicações e ainda arranjo tempo para estudar. Olá! Eu sou a Maria Gonçalves e tenho 17 anos. Nasci em Lisboa e passei a minha infância em Angola, o país de origem do meu pai. Gosto de ouvir música e, no futuro, gostaria de viajar pelo mundo todo. Apesar de não ser muito apreciadora de obras de arte, escolhi a pintura A Noite Estrelada, de van Gogh, porque a noite é a minha parte do dia favorita. If I had to describe myself in a song I would definitely choose Champagne Problems by Taylor Swift, since this is my favorite song and it also gives me calm and well-being when listening to it, but this doesn't mean that the lyrics are all that, on the contrary. This song talks about futile problems and a beautiful couple who had very different plans for the same night, one wanted to break up and the other was planning to propose.

Champagne problem is an expression used in America for futile problems, which I think suits me very well, since I care a lot about these problems (sometimes too much), which often ends up ruining my days.

I chose this painting because I felt it represented me. I love being with. my family, it's the most important thing in my life. In this painting there are ja mother, a father and two young women, the equivalent of my family, as I live with my parents and my older sister. Two feelings that the painting conveyed to me were unity and companionship, the family represented in it is taking a walk and this is something I identify with as it is one of the things, I am happiest doing, walking and traveling with my family. After viewing countless paintings, I decided to choose the painting called “Our Music” by Mártio as it encompasses abstract art and elements that refer to music.

This painting defines me through its abstract character because I consider that I have a strong personality in the sense that I can be aggressive and cold, as well as affectionate and sensitive. In other words, it becomes a little imperceptible of how I will act.

On the other hand, I identify with this painting through the musical elements as I spend most of my time listening to music.

Hi, my name is Joana Coelho and I'm 17 years old. I'm Portuguese and I was born in Lisbon. I attend the 12th grade in the area of sciences and technologies at the Basic and Secondary School of Carcavelos. I am interested in biology and, in the future, I intend to do research in this area, which is very wide-ranging. In my free time, I like to watch series, listen to music and sometimes draw. The reason I chose this song is quite simple, due to the fact that the name of the song itself is don't worry about things. It resembles me because I am a carefree person who doesn't pay much attention to the problems that life gives me, it doesn't mean that I avoid them but rather I solve them without any fear or worry.

A música com a qual me identifico é “FRIENDS” de Laundry day. É uma música bastante desconhecida que reflete sobre a beleza e o desafio da Amizade. Este descreve como a nossa vida é muito melhor quando estamos com amigos e como é inegavelmente assustador tê-los. O aspeto desafiante das amizades é como as nossas inseguranças desempenham um papel grande nelas. Temos pensamentos inconscientes sobre a nossa confiança que metemos nos amigos e a lembrança assustador de que um dia não os veremos mais. Com este contraste de beleza e desafio, o escritor desta música teve como objetivo de mostrar-nos como não valorizamos suficientemente as nossas amizades (na maioria das vezes). Quase tudo o que acabei de mencionar pode ser resumido na letra: “We got so catch up”, que ou demonstra como perdemos conta do tempo quando estávamos juntos e não o apreciamos suficiente, ou como ficamos muito ocupados com as nossas próprias vidas e que esquecemos de cuidar de uns aos outros. E em último, a outra letra repetida: “we gon’ be alright” dá-nos a segurança de que seremos sempre amigos, independente do que nos acontece, e que só temos de “dizer uma hora e lugar” porque “vamos ficar bem”.

Eu pessoalmente identifico me com esta música por causa de tudo mencionado anteriormente. Isto é, porque senti-me assim quando mudei de país, deixando todos os meus amigos e familiares atrás nos Países Baixos para viver em Portugal. Esta mudança de repente na minha vida ensinou-me a importância da amizade e como mantê-la, mesmo quando nada acontece ao meu favor, fazendo esta música perfeita para este trabalho. Hello, my name is Bruno Barbosa, i’m 17 years old and study at Escola Básica e Secundária de Carcavelos.

The song that I identify myself with is called “FRIENDS” by laundry day. It’s a pretty unkown song that reflects on the beauty and challange of Friendship. It describes how much better our lives are when surrounded by friends and how undeniably scary having friends can be. The challenging aspect of friendships is how our insecurities have a great role in them. We have non conscious thoughts about our trust for one another and scaring reminders of how one day we might not see each other again. By having this contrast of beauty and challenge, the writer of this song had the objective to show us how we take our friendships for granted (most of the time). Almost all that i had just mentioned can by summed up by the lyric: “We got so caught up”, which either demonstrates how we lost track of time when being together and not having appreciated it enough, or how we got too busy with our own lives and forgot to look out for each other. And lastly, another repeated lyric: “we gon’ be alright” reassuring that we are friends no matter what, and that we only have to “name a time and place” because “we’ll be fine”.

I personally identify myself with this song because of everything that I had previously mentioned. This is because I’ve personally felt this when changing countries, leaving all my friends and family behind in the Netherlands to move into Portugal. This sudden change in my life has taught me the importance of friendship and how to keep it even when nothing goes your way, making this the perfect song for it. I hope it can teach whoever is reading this the exact same.

I enjoy alot listening to music and to read books. I think music is my way to escape the world and to just be in my own thoughts.

I've chosen the song "Eyes without a face" by Billy Idol of the album "Rebel yell" (wich is a great album by the way, and you should give a try).

This song has some lyrics that I identify alot, and I love the instrumental, because at some moments of the song, the music is quite calming and peaceful, and in others is quite noisy and thrilling, just like the thoughts of my own mind, but I always feel at peace while listening this song.

My favourite part is quite at the end:

Whenever I hear this part, it makes me nostalgic and gives me a mixture of memories.

Eu pessoalmente consigo me identificar bastante com esta imagem, eu considero me uma pessoa que já teve de passar por inúmeros obstáculos na vida é nem todos foram fácies de superar, mas nunca desisti em nenhum deles!

Considero me uma pessoa desafiadora, no sentido em que me gosto de me pôr a prova diariamente porque só assim podemos evoluir, claramente que isto tem as suas desvantagens, mas eu acredito que é através do erro que podemos aprender e desta forma progredir.

I personally can identify myself a lot in this image, I consider myself a person who has been through countless obstacles in life, and not all of them were easy to overcome, but I never gave up on any of them!

Also, I consider myself a challenging person, who likes to put herself to test daily, because only then we can evolve, clearly, this has a few disadvantages, but I believe that it is through mistakes that we can learn and progress.

Nos meus tempos livres, eu altero entre estudar para a escola e jogar videojogos. Mas também faço mais coisas nos meus tempos livres, como viajar e outras atividades, só que não faço essas atividades tantas vezes que diria que são parte dos meus tempos livres.

Eu não sei exatamente o que eu penso seguir quando for para a faculdade, ou o que eu quero ser quando eu começar a trabalhar. A ideia mais concreta que eu tenho sobre o que eu quero estudar no ensino superior é a engenharia, nenhuma específica.

A música que eu escolhi, não porque penso que é a música que me representa melhor, mas porque eu gosto muito dela, é o “Don’t stop me now”, que foi escrito e cantado pela banda “Queen”, em 26 de Janeiro de 1979.

Pessoalmente, eu diria que esta música não é exatamente uma descrição do eu. Mas, a maneira como é cantada e os seus líricos tornam-na numa das minhas músicas favoritas.

Para além disso, esta música em geral é muito empolgante, tendo líricos simples e alegres e a parte instrumental, ou seja, os instrumentos, são rápidos e empolgantes.

Assim, por estas razões, escolhi esta música para me descrever nesta apresentação.

In my free time, I alternate between studying for school and playing video games. But I also do more things in my free time, like traveling and other activities, but I don't do those activities so often that I would say they are part of my free time.

I don't know exactly what I plan to pursue when I go to college, or what I want to be when I start working. The most concrete idea I have about what I want to study in higher education is engineering, none specific.

The song I chose, not because I think it's the song that best represents me, but because I like it a lot, is “Don't stop me now”, which was written and sung by the band “Queen”, on 26 December. January 1979.

Personally, I would say that this song is not exactly a description of the self. But, the way it is sung and its lyrics make it one of my favorite songs.

Furthermore, this song in general is very exciting, with simple and happy lyrics and the instrumental part, that is, the instruments, are fast and exciting.

A obra acima apresentada é intitulada de "Cena de Neve em Argenteuil" (em português) ou "Snow Scene at Argenteuil" (em inglês). Esta obra é uma pintura de paisagem a óleo do artista impressionista Claude Monet e representa a vista do rio Sena coberto de neve na cidade de Argenteuil, em França.

Nesta obra podemos observar então uma paisagem em pleno inverno, coberta de neve com pessoas a passear calmamente. Decidi escolher esta imagem uma vez que, para mim, para além de representar o inverno, representa também a minha parte favorita do mesmo, o Natal. Nessa altura do ano, apesar de não haver neve em Portugal, à exceção de algumas zonas, como é o caso da serra da Estrela, as ruas ficam todas com mais algum brilho, mais alguma alegria. Tudo fica mais mágico! Temos as lojas cheias de decorações de natal, as ruas iluminadas e enfeitadas, as casas mais acolhedoras. Diria que o Natal é a felicidade do inverno. É a época da família, dos presentes, das compras.

Apesar de o natal já não ser a mesma coisa como era em criança, continua a ser uma época feliz e mágica.

Outra razão pela qual escolhi esta obra foram as memórias que esta me despertou. Durante muitos anos, no início de Dezembro, fiz com a minha família viagens a França, Alemanha, Suíça, países estes que no natal se enchem de mercados no meio das ruas onde se vende chocolate quente, bonequinhos de natal, comida, entre outras coisas. Estes mercados normalmente são caracterizados pelas suas barraquinhas cobertas de neve, música natalícia, luzes de natal, etc. Infelizmente, há alguns anos que já não faço este tipo de viagem mas espero que num futuro próximo se voltem a realizar, pois eram viagens bastante giras, diferentes e numa época tão especial.

The work presented above is titled "Snow Scene at Argenteuil" (in Portuguese) or "Snow Scene at Argenteuil" (in English). This work is an oil landscape painting by the impressionist artist Claude Monet and represents the view of the snow-covered River Seine in the city of Argenteuil, France.

In this work we can observe a landscape in the middle of winter, covered in snow with people walking calmly. I decided to choose this image since, for me, in addition to representing winter, it also represents my favorite part of it, Christmas. At this time of year, despite there being no snow in Portugal, with the exception of some areas, such as Serra da Estrela, the streets all look a little brighter, a little happier. Everything becomes more magical! We have stores full of Christmas decorations, streets lit up and decorated, houses more welcoming. I would say that Christmas is the happiness of winter. Hello, my name is Gabriel Anjos, I’m 17 years old and I study in Carcavelos High School, in Portugal. In my free time, I like to listen to music, play the guitar and read. The song I chose was "Wind Of Change", from Scorpions. The writer, Klaus Maine, portrays the reality she lived in during the Cold War (the war between the Occident and the Soviet Union). It was written during the German’s band tour for a festival in Moscow, making the city the first reference in the song. The fact that they were the band from Occidental Germany was revolutionary to this show, it had been the first occident band to play in the Soviet Union. Due to this impact, the writer describes it as an enclosure between both parts, like brothers, "The World is closing in/Did you ever think/ That we could be so close, like brothers". Then, he says that the Cold War is very close to it's end, "the future’s in the air/ I can feel it everywhere/ Blowing with the wind of change". In the chorus, the author does a reference to the festival, where everybody feels good and that there was a hope for a better future, "Take me to the magic of the moment/ On a glory night/ Where the children of tomorrow dream away/ In the wind of change". After that, he refers to the memories that must be forgotten in order to restart, "Distant memories/ Are buried in the past forever". Finally, he establishes that change will be complicated to accomplish and will bring bitterness. However, it will be better for everyone, because the liberty and the union of everyone will come with a peaceful spirit, "The wind of change/ Blows Straight into the face of time/ Like a stormwind that will ring/ The freedom bell for peace of mind". I see myself in this song, because I think that we should always be open minded, treat others equally no matter the race, colour or religion and for me liberty is a great good. Furthermore, this song allows us to remember the hard times we were living in with these wars, where lots of us would like to come back to the "glory night" and a new "Wind of change".

Hello, my name is Rodrigo Le-Fort and I'm 17 years old. I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I've been living in Portugal for 3 years. A song that I identify with a lot is "Só os loucos sabem" by Charlie Brown Jr. because it both matches my taste in music and reflects the philosophy I try to follow in my life. In this song, the singer says: "But for those with a strong mind; The impossible is just a matter of opinion; And that's what crazy people know; Only crazy people know", which demonstrates his optimistic point of view. Like Charlie, I always try to look on the bright side, even when I'm facing seemingly unbearable challenges. I believe that acting with confidence and trying my hardest is the key to realizing my dreams, even if they seem impossible at first glance. That's exactly why I'm aiming for big goals, like becoming a doctor and exploring the whole world. In medicine I see the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives, while traveling provides a unique and valuable education not taught in classrooms. Therefore, I believe that the impossible depends on the eyes of the beholder and the willpower of those who seek to overcome it.

In particular, I am drawn to how Kandinsky uses colour in this painting. The bright red, yellow, and blue create a sense of energy and excitement. I also like the way that the different shapes interact with each other. Some of the shapes are geometric and precise, while others are more organic and flowing. This reflects the duality of my nature: I am both logical and creative, and I can switch between these two modes of thinking depending on the task.

Another element of the painting which represents me is the sense of movement. The different shapes seem to be swirling and dancing around each other. This reminds me of how my thoughts are constantly flowing and evolving. I am always learning new things and expanding my knowledge base. It is full of different shapes, both geometric and organic. The geometric shapes represent my logical and precise side. The organic shapes represent my creative and flowing side. This balance of logic and creativity is essential to me.

Overall, I believe that Composition VII is a good representation of me because it captures my energy and my constant evolution.

The painting is dominated by bright red, yellow, and blue. These colours are associated with energy, excitement, and creativity.

Hello, my name is Nicole Martins, I am 17 years old and I am in 12 B at Escola Básica e Secundária de Carcavelos. I chose this song not because it represents me but because I like its melody and lyrics. In my opinion, this song portrays feelings as something positive and beautiful, rather than something painful and weak. The way the author expresses his feelings through the melody is what makes me like music more, as it always brings me some kind of peace and joy.

This work portrays two people, a man and a woman, who intend to kiss, but this will never happen as their faces are covered by two white veils, which thus prevent their lips from touching. Therefore, this feeling of passion and love that exists between the two can never be expressed as the subjects would like to, as the two will never be able to kiss so, there is a feeling of hidden passion, but also impossibility in the realization of a desire. This love is antithetical given that it can be defined as silent but, at the same time, it speaks to us of incommunicability and suffering.

I see myself a lot in this picture given that I myself am a person full of passions, strong and deep emotions, but I have a lot of difficulty in expressing them and above all in accepting them: I often tend to hide these passions behind my apparently hard and detached personality so, I can say that I too have a veil over me that prevents me from fully realizing my desires, suffocating what are instead my passions and thus also giving rise to incompatibilities, as I am unable to combine what is my daily life with these passions. All this also involves the concept of the appearance: given the presence of this veil, people external to me are often unable to see what is beyond and therefore they stop at how I appear, just as many spectators stop only at the vision of the two lovers hidden by the veils, without investigating the meaning that the latter represent and so not asking what is really hidden under these veils.

Margarida, como a flor. Carismática, persistente, sentimental e intuitiva. 

Considero-me uma boa pessoa ainda que me pergunte muitas vezes se realmente existem boas pessoas num mundo onde a maldade é idolatrada. 

Gosto de pessoas, de cuidar delas, ainda que a personalidade de algumas não encaixe com a minha. Creio que todos temos qualidades que precisam de ser evidenciadas e apontadas mais vezes do que propriamente os seus defeitos. 

Pensei muito em algo com que eu me idenfica-se. Não vou mentir, demorou algum tempo até encontrar algo realmente bom. Com isto é possível observar que sou bastante perfeccionista, o que pode ser algo exímio, digno de respeito mas também algo realmente destruidor, é o sentimento constante de frustração, de corrosão interior.

Considero-me imperfeita, dentro da pequena perfeição. Tenho muitos defeitos, acho que neste momento algo que eu preciso efetivamente melhorar é como lidar com a frustração. Sou teimosa, muitos amigos me dizem que sou dramática, é verdade, mas no meu ponto de vista há alguns assuntos que devem ser tratados com algum drama, diria que é um drama saudável. Dizem que sou muito emocional e sentimental, chega a ser demasiado. Mas a verdade é que eu adoro ser sentimental, adoro sentir tudo, arrepiar-me com tudo, adoro ter empatia pelos outros e ter o desejo real de querer ajudar e não só porque é educação básica ou respeito.

Escolhi a música River flows in you, no piano, com a autoria de Yiruma. Esta música desperta em mim todos os tipos de emoções, desde felicidade a tristeza, melancolia. Cada nota apresentada nesta pauta dá um sentido novo à história, porque a música conta uma história, todas contam. O sentido que  a música tem depende de quem a ouve, e o sentido que damos à música depende do que estamos a sentir no momento, acho isso algo extraordinário. 

Sinto-me a dançar no meio das nuvens, sinto-me numa realidade distante, numa bolha onde o tempo para por uns minutos, onde sou só eu, apenas eu e a música. Faz-me sentir bem, instantaneamente calma e serena.

Toquei piano durante dez anos e lembro-me de pedir à minha professora todos os dias para a aprender a tocar esta música. Um dia decidi que ia aprender sozinha, consegui e não fazia outra coisa senão tocá-la, estava verdadeiramente impressionada com o que estava a conseguir fazer. 

Nunca gostei de tocar para pessoas, ainda não gosto, é algo demasiado pessoal, sinto-me vulnerável quando toco, como se fosse um livro aberto em que todos podiam ver, sentia-me exposta. A minha professora dizia que eu tinha uma delicadeza inexplicável, que dançava enquanto tocava, ia “na onda”, sentia-me a flutuar. 

Um dia fui a um concurso de piano, não estava com expectativas, eram todos muito bons, melhores do que eu, ia lá para me divertir ainda que sempre com o frio na barriga. Quando chamaram o meu nome senti o meu coração a disparar de tanto nervosismo. Subi ao palco, respirei fundo e toquei, somente. Senti a companhia do piano, tentei não magoá-lo, toquei com delicadeza, senti a música e de repente já não estava preocupada com a audiência, de certo modo até me esqueci de que estavam lá pessoas. Ganhei o concurso, ainda não sei como fiquei tão feliz que era capaz de explodir.

Gosto de sorrir, de amar, de flores, de animais (mais dos meus gatinhos) e da massa à bolonhesa da minha avó. Não gosto de espargos nem de mentiras, não gosto que digam “fala mais baixo” ou “acalma-te” quando estou entusiasmada com algo. Mas não pensem que sou a melhor versão de mim todos os dias. Infelizmente não é sempre assim, ainda que tente que seja. Por outro lado, ainda bem que não é sempre assim, igual, monótono, fatigante. Deste modo seríamos perfeitos, e é impossível ser perfeito num mundo imperfeito.

Daisy, like the flower. They describe me as charismatic, persistent, sentimental and intuitive.

I consider myself a good person, even though I often wonder if there really are good people in a world where wickedness is idolized.

I like people, I like to take care of them, even if the personalities of some don't fit with mine. I believe that we all have qualities that need to be and pointed out more often than their defects.

I thought a lot about something that I identify with. I'm not going to lie, it took some time before I found something really good. With this it is possible to observe that I am quite a perfectionist, which can be something excellent, worthy of respect but also something really destructive, is the constant feeling of frustration, of inner corrosion.

I consider myself imperfect, within the small perfection. I have a lot of flaws, I think at this point something that I How to deal with frustration. I'm stubborn, many friends tell me I'm dramatic, it's true, but in my point of view there are some subjects that should be treated with some drama, I would say it's a healthy drama. They say I'm too emotional and sentimental, it's too much. But the truth is that I love to be sentimental, I love to feel everything, I love to get goosebumps with everything, I love to have empathy for others and to have the real desire to want to help and not just because it's basic education or respect.

I chose the song River flows in you, on the piano, written by Yiruma. This song awakens in me all kinds of emotions, from happiness to sadness, melancholy. Each note presented in this score gives a new meaning to the story, because the music tells a story, they all do. The meaning that music has depends on who listens to it, and the meaning we give to music depends on what we are feeling at the moment, I think that is something extraordinary.

I feel like I'm dancing in the middle of the clouds, I feel like I'm in a distant reality, in a bubble where time stops for a few minutes, where it's just me, just me and the music. It makes me feel good, instantly calm and serene.

I played the piano for ten years and I remember asking my teacher every day to teach her how to play this song. One day I decided that I was going to learn on my own, I did it and I couldn't do anything but touch her, I was really impressed with what I was able to do.

I've never liked playing for people, I still don't, it's something too personal, I feel vulnerable when I play, like it's an open book that everyone could see, I felt exposed. My teacher used to say that I had an inexplicable delicacy, that I danced while playing, I went "on the wave", I felt like I was floating.

One day I went to a piano competition, I didn't have expectations, they were all very good, better than me, I went there to have fun even though I always had butterflies in my stomach. When they called my name, I felt my heart racing with nervousness. I went on stage, took a deep breath and just played. I felt the company of the piano, I tried not to hurt it, I played gently, I felt the music and suddenly I was no longer concerned about the audience, in a way I even forgot that people were there. Surprisingly I won the contest.

I like to smile, love, flowers, animals (more than my kittens) and my grandmother's pasta bolognese. I don't like asparagus or lies, I don't like people saying "speak quieter" or "calm down" when I'm excited about something. But don't think I'm the best version of myself every day. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, even if it tries to be. On the other hand, it's a good thing it's not always like this, the same, monotonous, tiring. In this way we would be perfect, and it is impossible to be perfect in an imperfect world.

"D'Artacão e os Três Moscãoteiros" de Cláudio Biern Boyd é uma adaptação da famosa obra "Os Três Mosqueteiros" de Alexandre Dumas, do século XVII na França.

O desenho segue as aventuras de D'Artacão, um destemido cão que sonha tornar-se num mosqueteiro, assim como o pai, que serviu como mosqueteiro do rei. Junto com seus amigos, Athos, Porthos e Aramis, formam uma equipa, dedicados a proteger o rei e o reino da França dos inimigos.

In my free time I like to watch television, so I'm going to share with you a cartoon that I watched when I was little.

"D'Artacão e os Três Moscãoteiros" by Cláudio Biern Boyd is an adaptation of the famous work "The Three Musketeers" by Alexandre Dumas, from the 17th century in France.

The cartoon follows the adventures of D'Artacão, a fearless dog who dreams of becoming a musketeer, just like his father, who served as the king's musketeer. Together with his friends, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, they form a team, dedicated to protecting the king and kingdom of France from enemies.

This cartoon reminds me of the old days when I was a kid and didn't have many worries. Additionally, each episode brings valuable lessons about friendship, loyalty, courage and honor.

Thus, "D'Artacão e os Três Moscãoteiros" is one of my childhood memories, also due to its iconic opening song.

Hello, my name is Leonor Gonçalves and I'm 17 years old. The painting above is called "One: Number 31" (1950) by Jackson Pollock. Paul Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) was an American painter and is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century, having notably contributed to the artistic movement of Abstract Expressionism. I chose this painting because it highlights some values that are important to me, by reflecting and representing true chaos, a total confusion everywhere but with an inexhaustible energy within it the painting leads us to oppose the idea that there is an objective meaning in it, to antagonise the search for an inherent meaning, thus ensuring that we have the freedom to project our own emotions and experiences onto the work of art. The artist's approach was non-objective, with no references to recognisable forms or representational elements, and with this work his intention was to make viewers "receive" what the painting had to offer, and not project a theme or preconceived idea, thus having to stop finding meaning in order to appreciate it. Pollock's action painting is widely considered to be the process and the captured movement of the work, the artist's ultimate form of expression when producing works as a way of liberating himself and personal release.

I believe this painting represents me because it is a great contrast between anxiety and peace. Peace can be spotted in the illuminated village, but looking higher, the sky is composed of frenetic vortices.

I also think I'm a balanced mix between anxiety and peace. I believe that the night is a time of great tranquility and yet it can lead to anxious and not always positive thoughts. This painting explains how I feel in moments of insecurity and I believe it represents a small part of me.

This artwork represents me a lot.

I see myself very much in this painting, as the person represented is characterized by fear, anguish and restlessness.

Similarly,  in everyday life situations, I get caught up in anxiety, panic and worry , and sometimes I can’t control my emotions.

Moreover, the fact that it is not clear whether the subject represented is a man or a woman, is a symbol of the indefiniteness of my personality: generally I am a very shy and introverted person, however when I know a person well, I become a lot outgoing and I am not ashamed of anything.

Next, I really appreciate the way Munch overlays, but at the same time he opposes warm colors, such as orange, yellow and red, and cool colors, such as blue and purple.

The use of these colors represents the variation of my person: solar, but sometimes even gloomy and melancholy.

In this painting full of negative meanings,  I can find one positive thing: the representation of nature in the background.

Nature has a very important role, because, even if deformed, the subject is able to identify himself in it and somehow find comfort.

Personally, when I find myself in stressful situations, I love to go out in the open air and immerse myself in nature, which manages to calm me.

In conclusion, I really love the “Scream of Munch” , because it is a representation that fully describes what I am and in which I see myself very much.

This painting was inspired by a Shakespearean theme, in particular by the "Tempest" to tell you the story of the young Miranda , daughter of the Duke of Milan Prospero, shipwrecked as a child with her father on a desert island where she always lived growing up far from the real world. In Shakespeare's play, the young woman holds off the flattery of Prospero's servant, Caliban.

Miranda is a dreamer, she knows a life that is very different from reality, coming out of people's normal value judgments. For her, men are all good, honest, as their isolated life did not allow them to fully evaluate the concrete knowledge of the human soul and its many facets.

Waterhouse draws her while observing with dismay the storm that the same prosperous father has unleashed, becoming emotional and moved with extreme identification with the suffering that the sailors on the ship, at the mercy of the waves, are experiencing in the desperate attempt not to sink.

I feel represented by the character of Miranda who is a dreamer and believes that everyone has good in them but at the same time she can be considered naive because due to this nature she doesn't see if a person is just using her. She observes the storm caused by her father and is moved and empathizes with the storm and the sailors who are fighting to save their lives. Like her, I believe I am an empathetic person who always looks for the good in other people and seeing them suffer, especially those dear to me, creates sadness in my soul. This is why I always try to help them as I can.

Hi everyone, I’m Erika from "Betty ambiveri" and this is “Café terrace at night” by Vincent Van Gogh.  In this painting he represents the “Café le soir”, in his beloved Arles. If I had to describe this oil on canvas, I would just say the word dream. As a matter of fact, the painter using stains of colors succeeds to create a masterpiece. He doesn’t recreate reality but the photography in his mind. I can see his thoughts, it’s like I am there with him, observing the scene. There is not a protagonist, on the other hand, everything is important: the starry night, the shop windows lights, but also the small coffee tables, the hats and the clothes of the people walking by or drinking sitting at the café. Why did I choose this painting? Well, because I believe it is fascinating how humans can feel the same emotions through the years. I feel like I am part of the scenery, as I could be there observing the café, even though it was painted more than a hundred years ago.

The first thing I noticed when looking at this painting were the soft, light colours, which conveyed tranquillity to me.

The subject is not well defined, it is up to the observer to imagine the place represented. Imagination is needed, another characteristic that is conveyed to me with this painting.

What fascinates me is also the simplicity of this painting. With just a few elements next to each other, the artist manages to create a beautiful landscape. I am a super simple person, I need little to make me happy and I appreciate small gestures. I find this simplicity of mine in this painting.

When my english teacher told me an my classmates that we had to find a modernist painting that we liked and that could represent us in some kind of way, l immediately thought about Van Gogh and every single one of his paintings; he indeed is my favourite artist but after searching a little l found out that there’s a lot more than just him.

One painting in particular caught my eye and it’s ‘’the snow made’’ by Viktor Michajlovic. Just by briefly looking at it you can notice a young lady covered by an elegant,prosperous coat. She seems disoriented as she’s wandering in the wild all by herself. 

I can see myself in her quite a bit, but l think she can pretty much resemble human kind as a whole .We all are walking through life like some lost sheeps,without knowing what’s next. In the end, just like her,l’m a girl that follows the path of life,anxious about everything that might happen and that sometimes feels lost and lonely. But there’s more to it. She’s not just a girl,she’s the protagonist of many slavic tails. Daughter of easter and winter,Snegurocka makes an appearance only during the cold seasons.She’s not allowed to love,given that she’d melt if someone were to warm her heart. I associate love with desire,I too would like to follow my dreams and take risks but I always find myself taking the easy way,always following the rules and doing what l have to do from the fright of failure just like the lady rejects love from fear of ending up hurt. 

The cat seems to stare at the observer and stare deep into his soul, as if he could read it inside.

This painting represents me because when I grow up I want to be a cat, jokes aside, I love cats. I find in them most of the characteristics that I see in me: being autonomous, solitary, inaffettuosi if not with a few individuals.

If reincarnation exists, I wish I could be reborn as a cat.

In addition, the cat is surrounded by flowers, which I adore madly, I love to observe them, pick them and then put them in books to dry or hang them in the room to dry. They give me an idea of ethereal, idyllic landscape.

Overall the picture gives me peace and quiet, which is one of the things I look for, in vain, I would add.

Klimt's painting represents a scene known to all, a man and a woman exchanging a romantic kiss while tenderly embraced, in a gesture of affection and protection. The two protagonists are wrapped in robes and a golden background, they are on a flowery meadow and they are the ones who emanate the warm light that gives life to the painting. Abstraction and realism make the kiss concrete but at the same time impossible to place in time and space. The scene depicted thus becomes suspended, immutable and destined to last forever in a strong love capable of resisting everything, which will unite the two lovers forever. In this painting the theme of love returns, so dear to the Viennese painter, who manages to transport into painting that ephemeral moment in which the male and female universes manage to interpenetrate. I really like this painting especially for the colors and the technique that the artist adopts. In my opinion it represents myself very well, my emotions and the sensations that I feel every day when I am with the person I love, my boyfriend. The two characters in the painting represent us perfectly: the deep and eternal love they feel, the way in which the man embraces the woman, as if he were protecting her from all the evil that is present in the world, the light they emanate and which gives life to the painting, their love. The coldness of the woman's loneliness is broken with the love of the man and the woman and, to convey the emotions that the different characters experience: they represent precisely the emotions that I feel when I am with him. I am a very introverted person, and sometimes I really struggle to vent with other people, but when I am with him I feel safe: I know that I can trust him, he is my safe place from this now ruined world, it makes me feel at ease and not like a bad person, as many made me feel. Many people made me feel like I was the wrong person, like I was the biggest sin, they belittled me and made me out to be the person I'm not. He saved me from the darkness that was surrounding me. He is my light at the end of the tunnel, he is my happiness: without him I wouldn't be the person I am now. Many times I tell myself what I would have done if he wouldn't have been there and, believe me, I wouldn't be the person I am now. I'm very kind, I always try to make others feel good, and I try to always make people feel at ease, without being afraid of being hurt anymore.

One of the paintings that fascinates me most about modernism is "the scream"  made in 1893 by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, who belongs to the movement of proto-expressionism. It is the distorted representation of a man whose face contracts in a grimace of intense terror. The work has become one of the most representative images of modern art, the transfigured face embodies the emblem of anxiety and malaise of human nature.

I chose this painting since it represents me a lot because I have a strong, determined essence, that does not know half measures. I am an outgoing person, always oriented towards new goals and very ambitious. I have a tenacious character, and I can’t stand being in subordinate positions. I also have a practical sense of solving things and the continuous search for personal growth.  I never let myself be taken down by the obstacles that life presents to me because inside I know, that no matter how many times I fall, but how many times I get up.

I chose this image because I think it describes me and the way I think very well. It's a simple image for sure but it can represent much more than what it appears to. 

For starters, the image itself represents a lightbulb, typically used for lighting up spaces or rooms, but this one is used to represent an idea, a thought or something else along those lines. Even if a lightbulb in a literal sense doesn't have logic in this type of description, it's still not uncommon to imagine it as such.  That is all because we are all creative.

I believe that creativity is the most important aspect about myself, and even one of the most important aspects about other people. Creativity is important to use in every moment of our lives and is extremely important on how we as a society function.

While I, personally, am not the most creative person out there, I still understand that I have to be creative to learn, think and act in my own way. And that is why I chose this image to describe myself.

The song that I think best describes me, and my generation as a whole, is “Vienna”, by the amazing Billy Joel. It is a song about knowing when to take a step back; about realising that you should appreciate life as you experience it, instead of rushing through it because you are blinded by a single aim. In short, it’s a song that makes you aware of the fact that everything happens in its own time and, most importantly, that you shouldn’t have everything too figured out - important things to be aware of at our age.

I truly think this song represents the mindset that I would love, above all else, to adopt; the mindset that we, as a generation of unsure and anxious teenagers, should become aware of and aim for. I, like many of my peers, am over ambitious. I get stressed about my future if it becomes somewhat of an uncertainty and I rely on structure, planification. Alas, I have come to realise that that is a poor way of living; to understand that it is not truly living at all.

As Oscar Wilde once said, “If you want to be a grocer, or a general, or a politician, or a judge, you will invariably become it; that is your punishment. If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life but what I will call the artistic life, if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know you will never become anything, and that is your reward.”. In this bizarre and surprising world, I am glad to have, at times, utter and complete uncertainty because it makes me aware of the unexpectedness and wonder that can be found in life.

I was born in Lisbon, Portugal, but most part of my family is from the north.

My hobbies are drawing, listening to music (Rock, metal, etc.), watch anime/cartoons, hangout with friends and play videogames.

I describe myself as reserved, a bit shy and nice, yet I get easily nervous/frustrated.

In the future I plan to be a psychologist because I like to help people with whatever they're struggling with.

And I chose the song Twenties by Ghost not only because it's my favorite band but also because the meaning behind it is: the future being both promising and frightening and the path it ultimately takes being determined by the actions of the people.

And I can relate because I'm a little scared of the future and we need to make the best choices to make sure it turns out well. It inspires me to not be frightened.

Hi! My name is Rafael Ferreira, I'm 17 years old, and I'm studying at Escola Básica e Secundária de Carcavelos ,I was born and raised here in Lisbon,Cascais.I love playing sports,like football and basketball,and to listen to music all the time.

Like I said I've always loved to listen to music so to choose one to represent me was very difficult but “eyes wide, open air” by Drod was a clear favourite.

This song is about how Drod felt scared when he was younger about the future, that he was making the wrong choices and hitting his head and just going down to the wrong paths, that he felt that he was a hopeless young boy, that he was stressed and he needed a lesson,and then as he said in the music”Last time I was better Now I'm up another level I decided my future isn't the same” and now he felt more relief,and that now he was closer to the “mountain view”,this means his success.

All things considered, I believe this represents a little bit of my past. I think I was going through a bad phase and with the wrong people and now I'm more relieved and not so stressed about my future, because of the changes that I made to my life, and now I feel like I´m in the best seat for my life.

This work, whose original title is “L’homme au chapeau melon”, portrays one of the recurring figures in Magritte’s paintings: a man in a black bowler hat, dressed up in a classy way. In fact, he is wearing a white shirt, a black and elegant suit, whereas his neck is adorned with a wide pink tie. However, what catches observers’ attention is his face, completely covered by a dove, which preserves the mysterious man’s identity.

By hiding the man’s face, Magritte questions the distance between reality and imagination, conveying a powerful message: “there is another world out there just beyond the world we are in”. Basically, what Magritte is saying is that everything and everyone hide something, thus human beings should sharpen their eyes and try to look beyond the surface. Personally, I think that’s why I feel a strong bond with this painting. At first glance, I may seem like a cold, logical and detached person - which is not totally false. I, in fact, am extremely reserved, since I do not like being in the spotlight, and I am a perfectionist: I always demand the best from myself, I push myself beyond my limits and I always want to take the control of everything, given that I have a hard time trusting people. However, beneath my cold armour, there is something more. I am an extremely easy-going, yet sensitive person with many passions and many insecurities; I am a person willing to do anything to help people in difficulty, I am always available to listen to others and give advice.

So, stop at the cold appearance or delicately and patiently discover what is beneath the surface, just as Magritte suggests? Well… that’s up to you…

I choose this picture that it’s from an album from Gorillaz , I can’t choose a song they are all so good! But I vibe a lot to O green world.

I love music , and I love hearing songs all the time , it’s my favorite hobby! I write my on songs and create melodies, based on my feelings.

I also love playing games mostly indie ones like , omori , Sally face , Fran bow, fnaf , little nightmares etc , or music games like bandori.

Recently I’ve been watching movies like , Joker , The eyes of my mother , black swan etc. I like watching movies that are intense or scary. I didn’t like watching movies for a long time I thought it was boring being sat 2 hours watching a movie , but now I love it! It’s just I didn’t chose the right movies for me.

Im quiet most of the time, I don’t like loud noises or confusion. But ,when I’m with my friends I’m more funny and outgoing. I love  laughing loud and be with people who are like me.

i tend to have a face that people think i dont want talk to anyone ,but that’s  not the case , i just feel comfortable around others when i meet them  for quite a time.

I chose the song "Reflections" by The Neighborhood because it is very close to me at the moment.  "Reflections" by The Neighbourhood explores themes of love, loss and longing. The protagonist of the song looks back on the past, reflecting on a time when they were so close to someone, but now they are gone. The narrator is left with a feeling of unanswered questions and sadness, not knowing if or when that person will return. The chorus lyrics capture this feeling of being too close to the stars and yet so far away, unable to fully express feelings or receive love in return. The bridge lyrics emphasize the narrator's feelings of being trapped by her longing, feeling the need to have that person back regardless of the consequences. Ultimately, the song draws attention to the strength and power of reflection and the moments of clarity it can bring. Also, I can say that the melody of the song suits my character very well, it's the same kind of rising rhythm, and in a way I have quite a soft and trembling character. So the mixture of these rising rhythms suits me very well.

Because of some events in my life, my friends left, and even my closest friend, with whom we were friends for 13 years, stopped being my friend.

That's why I chose this song as the one that could describe me well enough. Exactly, this song, in my opinion, speaks well to the theme of how hard it is to stop looking back on the past and clinging to former "dear to you" friends. Thanks to it, I was able to open my eyes to the present, and I definitely shouldn't hold on to the past.

I genuinely believe that the refrain of this song shows us the mindset of teenagers when she sings, "Want it when we can't have it, when we got it, we don't seem to want it." As young individuals, we often find ourselves desiring things that may hold little value in our lives, or at times, we become fixated on one particular goal, only to realize that it may not have been our true desire.

Between the various works, paintings and songs of modernism, I feel best represented in the famous painting by the Austrian painter, Gustav Klimt: 'The Kiss'.

The work, created by the artist between 1907 and 1908, shows two young lovers closely hugged, with the man leaning in to kiss the woman, set in an abstract and ethereal place, in which the colour gold clearly prevails.

I consider this painting to be one of the greatest representations of love of all time.

I am a very romantic girl, in love with love in all its forms, very sentimental, empathetic, but also a dreamer. I believe in true love, but the love of other times, the love still made of small things and unexpected sweet gestures.

I am also very shy and introverted, as in the painting, I need that hug that gives me protection and security, so I can feel at ease, be myself and become open with other people.

This work is part of Picasso's Cubist phase, and is considered one of the most important paintings ever in his long artistic production. Pablo Picasso made this painting when he was married to Marie-Thérèse Walter, who is the subject of the work; in the composition Marie-Thérèse is represented while looking in the mirror: her body has been broken down into many small parts according to cubist rules, but you can recognize her figure quite easily. The painting can be divided into two parts: the woman who mirrors herself was made with light colours, in order to enhance her beauty; part of the face of the woman on the left in the painting is coloured yellow, as if wearing a sort of mask, and alludes to happy moments with Picasso, while the other side of the face is young and devoid of imperfections. The reflection of the subject in the mirror has different characteristics: according to some critics, this figure should represent how Marie-Thérèse thinks he sees; the colours used are very dark, part of his face is aged and wrinkled, filled with hatred and sadness, linked to his fear of ageing and losing all his beauty. I really like this painting because it represents a part of my life, but I also think it represent a part of everyone’s life; it represent a girl in front of a mirror, which is reflecting her image, but with a lot of defects, so how we all see ourselves. I think that it represents myself because I’m very lazy person and if I have a problem, I’ll try to postpone it as late as possible. I know that this is not a good attitude and I’m not always like this. I still consider myself a responsible and quite active person but I prefer to commit in the things I love the most. I'm a person who thinks a lot and who likes to think alone in her room.

I also really love my bed and this is the other side of why I appreciate this painting and I compare it to me.

In short, I see myself a lot in this opera!

I feel like he´s going through some though times and doesn´t want to complain about his problems.

All in all I just really like the way this song makes me feel closer to my sister and that is really important to me.

My favorite modernist painting is “The persistence of memory” by Salvador Dali.

He was a Spanish painter from Catalonia and he is considered the father of surrealism.

The goal of the surrealism movement was to bridge the gap between dreams and reality using different methods and the whole point of it was to allow the unconscious mind to express itself.

The painting is characterized by melting clocks and gold watch covered in ants and there are realistic elements mixed with surrealistic ones.

The first surrealistic element that is situated in the front is an approximation of Dali's face in profile; while the ants, on the gold clock, symbolize decay, such as the gold is decaying because time is losing all the meaning.

The meaning of the painting is that time is relative, it is completely based on numbers and it can still feel deformed to some of us. Time is as real as we believe it is and reality is what we choose to see.

I really feel understood by this painting because time passes quickly especially when you’re doing something that makes you happy but when you’re doing something annoying it flows slowly. I always think about this because it expresses a lot about the human brain and I’m fascinated and curious about this subject because it explains that the our mind works differently from person to person.

I have always liked this painting because it has always brought me peace and tranquility, the work in fact represents me because I think it portrays the so-called "quiet after the storm". The whirlwind of heaven in my opinion identifies the problems of life and its difficulties, but there is always a hope that I think is represented by the stars and the bright Moon in the background, which bring hope in life. I identify myself in this picture because in my life I have had the opportunity to face various bad situations, but they made me understand that after periods of suffering comes happiness and that you have to be hopeful. In general in my daily life I am a positive person who does not dwell on problems, but who tries to find a solution to them.

This work therefore represents me because it expresses my dedication and the hope with which I live because, although a period may seem messy, there will always be a light to give us the appropriate strength with which to continue smiling.

This artwork represents me a lot.  I see myself a lot in this painting, in the figure depicted by Paul Klee: a boy who is dreaming. I consider myself a very dreamy girl, perhaps too much so, I live on dreams, illusions, fantasies, and this many times leads me to be disappointed by reality. At the same time, however, I can say that I 'take refuge' in dreams, precisely to escape from the reality itself, many times I am dissatisfied and imagination is the only tool I use to be a little more peaceful and happy. This side of my personality is determined by the fact that since I was a child I have always read a lot of books, in particular I have always admired the dystopian and fantasy genre, and this has done nothing but train my mind and imagine more and more things. This of course concerns films. The dream then, a theme perfectly expressed by this painting, has a double face, one positive and the other negative. If, on the one hand, it distances me from reality, on the other hand I perceive the dream as a kind of petrol, energy, that something that pushes me to work hard to achieve my ambitions. The dream can therefore help to show the best part of us, to have that motivation that perhaps without an incentive would never have revealed itself, to show ourselves for what we are. In conclusion, I really like 'Intense Dream' because it fully expresses my personality and who I am.

It’s a painting which was painted by the Belgian painter René Magritte, in 1955. 

The work is set at sunset and it portrays three men: apparently they are identical, but it is not known whether they are the same person or three different men. Two of them are represented from behind, while the other is shown in profile. Each of them wears a headdress and is facing a different direction. A crescent moon is painted above each figure. 

I believe that the three men represented are the same person, presented through three men to represent his different personalities.

I see myself very much in this painting. 

I'm a girl with many personalities and I always try to show all of them. Apparently I am a shy and reserved girl, but the people who know me best, know that I'm also a kind girl, intelligent, courageous and empathetic girl.

Consequently, referring to the painting, I believe that the man in profile represents the part of my character that is more empathetic and generous towards everyone, while the other two men represent the other part of my character, the more reserved one. This last one is the part that people immediately notice about me, often focusing only on that, without taking the rest into consideration.

I also chose this painting for the setting.  It is set at sunset and I love it. I like to photograph it every time I see it, because it is never the same and the colors are wonderful.

When I watch the sunset I feel free to dream, to imagine, to see the true beauty of life even just in the little things. I can't explain it, but it's a wonderful feeling.

In conclusion I really like this painting, because it describes who I am!

I think the work of modernism that fully represents me is: the painting, called "two Ballet Dancers" made by Edgar Dega in 1879.

The work was created with the technique of pastel and gouache on paper and is located in the Shelburne Museum, Vermont.

It is well known that Edgar Degas depicts ballerinas, paying attention to what goes on behind the scenes, during their rehearsals and warm-up moments to capture the realism of their spontaneous movements and not graceful poses that they must maintain during the performance.

In particular, the painting, which I chose, depicts two dancers in a moment of rest after long and tiring hours of rehearsals in the dance room.

Despite the simplicity of the scene, I noticed the tiredness and fatigue of their bodies taking awkward positions.

These dancers show the great willpower and seriousness needed to be able to execute an excellent performance.

In them I see myself for the determination and tenacity that I use every day to be able to achieve my dreams; keeping in mind that behind every small success there are long periods of fatigue and hard work that not everyone sees and understands and unfortunately often pass into the background.

Like these dancers sometimes I give myself moments of rest, but I do not stop fighting for my passions.

I also chose this painting because the dancers remind me of the elegance and sophistication of the city that has been in my heart since I was a little girl; it is Paris that I visited in September 2022 with great emotion.

I am Portuguese and I teach Portuguese Literature at Carcavelos Secondary School.

I chose this painting because it represents what I would like to have, more time. I have so many things to do every day, I needed the day to have more than 24 hours.

I think this painting is extremely realistic, with impressive precision in detail. It reflects a little on my persistence in accomplishing all the things I commit to doing, as well as my prefectionism in what I do, it was "enemy" of time.

I see myself in this painting, starting from the fact that it is very well known but not everyone knows the true meaning and so am I, many people know me but few know how really i am.

The painting represents a man or woman in the foreground who is screaming, and in the background two people who are walking. I identify with the one who screams, who expresses anguish and agony, far from people.

On the surface I seem strong but in reality I have my moments when I need to "scream" and express my true emotions, but I don't like doing it in front of others so i push everyone away because i need to stay alone. Everything around the person who is screaming deforms, like for me when “the world falls on me”.

Hello my name is Veronica Magni, I am 18 years old and I think that the Pyrenean Castle is a painting that fully represents me.

I interpreted the painting in my own way, for me the rock represents my hard character, while the sea represents my gentle side.

It is as if they collide with each other without ever touching or collaborating.

The subject of the painting is inspired by the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. In the centre of the painting we can see a rock on which stands a castle and this rock is suspended over the sea. Various elements are recognisable, such as the castle on top of a rock, which in turn is suspended over the sea, the sky is clear with clouds. Below, one can see the rough sea with waves. We can see two opposing forces and they almost seem to clash; on one side we can see the greatness of the rock and on the other side we see the infinity of the sea.

The hardness of the stone is also transmitted to the castle where there is nothing else, neither vegetation nor trees, which conveys an almost frozen feeling.

The artist makes the most seemingly ordinary things unusual, where even a castle is 'petrified'.

In my free time i like walking with my dog and hanging out with my friends.

I chose the painting “water lilies” of Claude Monet first of all because Monet is my favourite artist since i was 13, this because, even if I am not good at painting, I think he has a unique technique of representing nature.

Another reason why I like this painting is because I love being in nature and going for a run in the open air; I love sunny days when there is a cool breeze and walking in my town.

I also love swimming and looking at the reflection of what surrounds me in the water, being underwater relaxes me and when I swim all my anxieties disappear.

This painting and above all the water lilies infact convey calm and peace to me which represents my inner part, on the outside in reality I am very extroverted and I never sit still; I like spending the days with my friends both chatting and going to the disco.

I choose “hostage” by Billie Elish released in 2018.

In my opinion this song talks about a girl that has never experienced true love and she doesn’t know how to respond to someone giving her love.

She is overthinking everything in order to protect herself and trying to not get too attached because she knows that this time she is not going to react in a good way if this relationship ends badly.

I think that this song represents me because I am not an open person that gets intimate with other people easily, on the contrary I tend to let people out of my personal life, even if it is a close friend or family member. I also tend to “keep hostage” people that I start getting closer with so that it is more difficult leaving once i feel comfortable with them.

I chose this painting because I think it suggests that it is possible to glimpse elements of beauty even in everyday moments. 

I am a creative and passionate person who loves to explore the world. I am a dreamer and a romantic and I have a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. 

I am inspired by simple things, and I love sitting at coffee shops during the evening or during the night and taking in the sights. My life is full of the hustle and bustle that is the sum of school, hobbies, friends, and trying to be a healthy person. 

I think the world is a beautiful place that has so much to offer, and I don't take it for granted.

I think Jo March from Little Women is the literary character that best represents me.

Like her I am  a rebel at heart,I am adventurous and stubborn.

Instead of wasting my time concerned about other people’s opinions , I try to focus on fighting for my beliefs and working hard to (hopefully) make the world a better place. I stand loud and proud for what I believe in and I'm most definetly not scared to voice my opinion.

When i chose the quotation i immediately thought about how i feel in this moment of my life: finishing high school without a clear idea about what i want to do next.

Then, i stopped for a moment, and i realized that the quotation perfectly suits for me.

Since i was a little girl i’ve always had the necessity to move from my place. In primary school i dreamed about moving to London to study English. In middle school i changed my mind: i wanted to go the U.S., studying to become a translator and finally living the american dream.

High school has been like a rollercoaster: changing my mind about what I wanted to be in life and where I wanted to be.

All i was sure about was -and still is- i want to move abroad.

The quotation doesn’t suit just for school, but also for music taste, movies, food.

I know this may sound like I can’t take decisions, but I think that something can’t be classified in just a category.

A song that represents me could be the "winter" of the Four Seasons by the composer Antonio Vivaldi.

In fact, winter has always been my favorite season. I really like the atmosphere that this song makes me think of: the snowflakes, the cold, the winter storms outside while inside the house everything is decorated for the holidays and the fireplace is lit.

Another reason why I love this time of year is because there are Christmas and New Year holidays; as a result there is more time to spend with family and friends listening to Christmas songs or going ice skating (both things I love to do)

I think this song describes the winter season perfectly; the image of a village covered in soft snow gives me tranquility but the storms make me feel a little anxious.

The painting simply depicts the landscape of the Rhone during a night full of stars.

I can say that there's a lot of me here. I'm a controversial person, meaning that I'm always in contrast with myself.

The color blue represents my being an introspective person, I always want to work on myself and getting better and better, even if this behaviour lead me to isolate from the others, the color yellow, instead, represents my being an extroverted person, which is an hidden part of myself that I show only when I find a safe place (even person) to "shine", like those stars.

Even though yellow and blue seem to be incompatible because they are too different, in reality they work well together, just like in me!

The song I chose to represent myself is called “New romantics” by Taylor Swift. The track is a tribute to the “new romantics” who are a generation of people that believe in love, art, beauty, and a positive outlook on life, but it also talks about the struggles of relationships.

I chose this song because I always say that for me it represents teenage in its good and bad parts. I think that this stage of life is really chaotic, full of contrasting feelings and complicated relationships with both love and friendship, that are perfectly described in the lyrics. However, everything works out in the end and the singer explains it in the chorus, where she encourages the listeners to hold onto their dreams and not let the negative things in life bring them down. It’s a reminder that despite all the challenges and hardships we face, there is always hope for happiness.

My favorite line is ironically “we team up, then switch sides like a record changer” because my friendships have changed so much during the last years and everything always happens very quickly. Sometimes it’s for the best, sometimes you’re left wondering what everything would’ve looked like if just one thing had gone differently, but I always consider both situations as a big part of who I am today. The song ends with the line “the best people in life are free”, which I think is the best way to look at it.

this song, “bella fregatura”, is one of my favorites. it talks about some fears of the singer and how a person helped him to overcome them.

I remember some years ago my middle school's Italian teacher saying "My favourite author is Giacomo Leopardi because of how he sees life, now I'll explain why...". Her lesson is still so vivid in my mind and she made me love this Italian poet.

He spent a lot of years studying, without seeing the good in "living life". So similar to me yet so different.

The font of every “sense,” of every felt attachment, of every movement of a human being, is traced by self-love. Self-love for Leopardi isn't considered as egoism, but the continuous carrying of one’s own “I.” This is something I'd like to learn more from him.

In “To His Lady,” Leopardi accomplishes an anti platonic polemic: he negates the existence of the desired "object" while continuing to destroy himself for it. It is a hymn from an “unknown lover” to a woman whose “dear beauty” remain unknown. Like a voice calling from the dark into the dark. But from whom to whom?

Leopardi thinks that the man is not only a weak creature who, after a life of suffering, is totally destroyed, but is also a being so insignificant that, if he disappeared, the rhythm of universal life wouldn't be disturbed in the slightest. Leopardi, in fact, had permanently experienced what is the teenage trauma when we find ourselves faced with a reality unexpectedly different from the one imagined and little by little one loses illusions and hopes, all this accompanied by sudden and profound discouragements. For most young people this only concerns a short period of their lives, then they adapt. This was never possible for Leopardi.

I relate with his thinking.

I personally believe that the literary character that best represents me is Juliet Capulet from the famous play “Romeo and Juliet”. Shakespeare describes her as a strong, kind, loving and determined girl. She is willing to do everything to be with her beloved, in fact her obsession with Romeo leads her to commit suicide. 

I think that I resemble her because I’m a passionate person and I would do anything for the people I love, such as my friends and family. I’m also determined and mature because I’ve always made decisions on my own, even when I knew I would risk it. What is more, many say that I have a rebellious character and it’s true as I always aspire to be noticed.

If i had to talk about something that represents me, I’d talk about “You”, which is a tv series. My favorite character is Love, and I like her way of handling things, her mentality and her loyalty. I also like Joe because of his character and his way of acting. This tv series kind of represents me because in some moments i would handle things like them, except for the extreme decisions.

But for the other things, I like their behavior and if I was stuck in a difficult situation, i’d act like them in certain things. I agree with Love in many things, and above all I agree with some aspects of her mentality.  Also because it already happened to me to be stuck in some similar situations in my life, and that’s the reason this tv series represents me.

A painting that represent my attitude towards life is Composition VIII painted in 1923 by the Russian artist Vasilij Kandinskij.

The painter fills the painting with geometric shapes such as the triangle and the square randomly, to represent abstractionism.

In addition Vasilij uses light colors and lines to create harmony in front of our eyes.

I believe that Composition VIII describes myself because I think I am a very messy person and also I am convinced that chaos can give rise to the originality that distinguishes one person from another.

The Peter Pan movie talks about a child, named Peter, who doesn't want to grow up. He lives on Neverland, a small island, with a group of children called the Lost Boys. On the island he has many adventures, but often goes to the real world to meet other children such as Wendy and her brothers, one night he decides to bring them to the island and during the exploration of the place something happens: for the boy who never grew up and his friends it’s time for a new adventure.

I chose this movie because I personally think that in all of us there is a part that wants to remain a child forever because while we are growing up we understand that life as adults is not that easy and that we lose the innocence, the innocence of youth and also the way we see the world changes. Peter Pan tells the story of the gap between adult life and childhood. Growing up means losing the innocence and carefreeness that characterize children and at the same time it means living in the raw and disillusioned world where you cannot be happy forever.

This painting is a symbol of life, because he announces the arrival of spring and because it represents a moment of joy for the painter, given by the arrival of his nephew.

The colors are typical of spring and give a lot of light to the picture making everything appear more colorful and bright.

Personally I think that this picture reflects me a lot, not only because I really like spring for the sensations it brings but also because the painting gives me peace and serenity.

I like being in nature always discover new things, and travel.

Vincent Van Gogh is a painter who interests me both with his life and his paintings. I love looking at his pictures and trying to draw them.

The Sorrowful Old Man, also known as At Eternity's Gate, is an oil painting by Vincent Van Gogh, painted in Saint-Rémy-de Provence in 1890.

As seen in this picture, an old man is sitting in a chair next to the fireplace. The man is bent over, hunched over, covering his face with his hand. There's probably a great sadness in his soul.

The center of the picture is depicted fluidly and schematically. The chair the old man is sitting on is very weak, it looks like it will break, it looks like it will collapse at any moment.

Van Gogh depicted despair very clearly in this painting and emphasized important details. The old man looks helpless, maybe he has worked hard for a good life.

There are times when I see myself in this photo. I am not an outgoing, talkative person. Instead, I am a quieter person who tries to look at life from an interesting perspective. That's why sometimes I can be so pessimistic that I feel like the world is ending and there's nothing I can do. At those moments, I cover my face with my hands, just like the old man here, and think about how despair found me. But then I look around and realize that life goes on, I only have one life to live and then this will all pass. Likewise, despite the sad subtext, the picture is very bright. Who knows, maybe the artist has hidden in this canvas the hope that the troubles will end and a bright line will come to his life.

This is a lyric from Taylor Swifts’ song “August”.

I chose this lyric because it has represented me for the past several months, especially this past summer.

I interpret it in a more positive way than it could be perceived in the context of the song; for me, it is a reminder to always try and pursue your dreams, your hopes.

It reminds me that no matter how negative, boring, or unfulfilling things may seem in the present there’s always the future, and there are always new opportunities waiting for you right around every corner.

Moreover, the sea has always been the only element of nature, together with the sky, that gives me calm and allows me to feel free and imagine, travel with my mind and disconnect from all the difficulties and worries.

Hello, my name is Mafalda D'Almeida, I'm 16 years old and I'm from Secundary school of  Carcavelos, 12thB.

I chose this song for two particular reasons.

Firstly, it is a Portuguese song, which represents, in a certain way, our culture and music.

And secondly, the singer plays it very well and gives me a lot of nostalgia when I listen to it.

The verses I like the most are: "Vimos esta paisagem/ como uma miragem, mas não foi/ Ali no Miradouro/ Das portas do Sol/ Um nós surgiu"

These verses lead me to reflect on them, which brings me to the realization that we often realize that time passes by and that we don't enjoy life in the present time. We should make the most of it and not simply look at things happening in front of us without reacting, because usually we only realize that time has passed when it is too late.

Ophelia was painted by Waterhouse in 1899.

Ophelia is the potential love interest in Shakespeare's play "Hamlet".

She is suffering because of her dad's death and she suffers untimely after she climbs into a willow tree and a branch breaks dropping her into a brook in Denmark where she drowns.

In this painting Ophelia is lying in a field with a bouquet of windflowers and in the background we can see the stream where she will drown.

I feel represented by the several paintings about Ophelia because the woman is always in the nature and for me nature is something that can relax me in a moment of strong emotions or also that causes me a sense of wonder when I admire her beautiful creatures.

When I walk through nature I feel like I can tell whatever I want because nature is there to listen to me and try to help me.

And even if someone can say that nature is always the same for me it isn't like that because every time I'm in a natural place I can't stop thinking about her beautiful.

The modernist work that most represents me is the "Evening Café Terrace" created by Vincent Van Gogh in 1888 and currently located in the Kroller-Muller museum. In this work, in fact, van Gogh relies completely on colours, which dominate the scene thanks to the lively contrast between blue and yellow, which began in the urban scenario and resumed in the sublime vision of the starry sky. The sensation of depth is also reproduced by the comparison of these two shades, with the yellows progressively advancing to the foreground and the blues receding. I think that this work represents me first of all because my favorite colors are blue and yellow and secondly because I often frequent places such as bars, cafes, where I spend most of the time with my friends and it is for this reason that I I feel close to this work.

To describe my personality I chose the character of the cartoon ‘adventure time’ named BMO.

BMO is a character that I feel very close to me since he’s not one of the main characters of the story, but his presence, despite being marginal, is very pleasant. In fact, perhaps due to my introverted catheter, I often don't stand out in a context where I meet new people, but once I get to know them I can assure you that I am very nice.

Just like BMO, I’m a loyal, trustworthy friend, always willing to help and very protective of my friends. Other things that we have in common, are that I really like to dance and I'm also very ticklish.

this painting called “the fallen angel” by Alexandre Cabanel represents Lucifer, the fallen angel.

i choose this painting mainly because we share the same hair color haha but also  for its symbolism, we know that Lucifer was a rebel who stood up against God.

like him i also enjoy to speak my mind and stand for the others.

Lucifer was know in history mainly as a bad guy but in my personal opinion he had a point.

The tear that’s we can see in his eye represent the frustration of not being able to always be understood by others, by society.

I think i love drawing seas,oceans

because almost the color of all blues feel to me happy. And i like playing piona, playing in theatres. And when i feel sad or stresfull, i like writing.

I chose this painting because it reminds me travelling. It's like this:

I am a traveler and travel to different countries. I find small places to stay and i enjoy traveling.

This reflects the part of me that loves travel.

It is a large-scale painting of an arcadian landscape filled with brilliantly colored forest, meadow, sea, and sky and populated by nude figures both at rest and in motion.The color is responsive only to emotional expression, not the realities of nature. In fact the painter uses bright colors and the painting exudes a celebration of life, love, and the human experience. It portrays a utopian world where the boundaries between human and nature blur, and bodies and nature become one. The figures' joyful interactions, carefree postures, and intimate connections with nature convey a profound message of harmony and bliss.

I personally think that “The Joy of Life” describes me because Matisse lived in the period of the industrialization which was a period full of pessimism and apart from this Matisse in this painting wanted to bring liveliness and positivity. I too often try to look on the bright side in any circumstance and also remind others to do so.

Personally, I think that the modernist painting that describes me the best is “The kiss” created in 1907 by Gustav Klimt.

The work shows a scene known to all, a man and a woman in ecstasy exchanging a romantic kiss while tenderly embracing each other, in a gesture of affection and protection. The two protagonists are wrapped in robes and a golden background, they are on a flowery meadow and they are the ones who emanate the warm light that gives life to the painting. As in almost all of the painter's paintings, the true protagonist of the scene is the woman, the only one of the couple whose face can be seen, leaning on her lover's shoulder with an ecstatic expression. In fact, during his life Klimt portrayed numerous women, represented with tenderness, elegance and romanticism.

I think this painting represents me because the central theme is love and I am a romantic, empathetic and sentimental girl. I adore love in all its forms and I believe in eternal love like the scene represented which becomes so immutable and destined to last forever, in a strong love capable of resisting everything, which will unite the two lovers forever.

There is a boy suffering from pain because he fell down while walking on the rope - as we can see from the back part of the painting - . The man is sad because of the little child's injury and the woman holding the child has an expression of regret on her face. Also the animals are trying to figure out what's going on... I think this is an impressive and comprehensive painting.

I choose this picture because I think we can find Happiness wherever we are.

In this picture there is a family with 6 children. We can see newspapers on the window . There's an umbrella In their dad hand and there is water because roof takes rainwater in house. I think they has one bed and all them are sleeping in there. We can understand they has lots of problems but they have a smile on all of them faces. We can have bad times certainly but we must be happy,it is not very difficult.

I study at Şehit Mehmet Şengül Science High School and I study in 10th grade. I love being in nature, listening to music, looking at natural views, doing puzzles. I also love flowers and their smells. When I look at them and smell their smells, I become happy and peaceful. So I thought that's a good picture to describe me. Its name is "Ayçiçekleri" means "Sunflowers". It is made by Nurullah Berk in 1978. I love this picture becaus of its drawing and colours.

Now, I want to talk about Nurullah Berk's life a little bit. Nurullah Berk is a Turkish artist who was born in 1906 in İstanbul. He is one of the first representatives of constructivism in Türkiye. He won the Ahmet Çanaklı Award in 1947, the first prize of the 28th State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition in 1966, and the DYO Award Painting Competition in 1975. In 1953, he founded the Turkish national committee of the International Association of Art Critics to UNESCO with Suut Kemal Yetkin. He died in 1982 in İstanbul.

The interpretation of this painting can be very subjective. For me it represents ideas, feelings and therefore what concerns the inner world of a person. Lighter colors, such as white, represent the positive aspects, joy, creativity and lightheartedness. The darker colors, such as black and brown, represent the "negative" parts, sadness, loneliness..

But all these feelings and feelings mix together, forming a whole. According to my interpretation, negativity mixes with the positivity of life, where there are both good and bad things. But they are necessary to create the people we are, finding a balance between the two sides

So the painter ı choose is " Arnold Böcklin " , one of my favorites . Böcklin's paintings contain very deep meanings and everyone can see themself in his works . His painting that ı wanna talk about called " Death Playing the Violin " .

I think this is a good choice for people who have thought about death even once in their lives and I question death a lot . When we look at this painting, we can see Böcklin and the skeleton behind him. The skeleton represents death and is holding a violin . Böcklin is holding a palette and a brush . He's probably making a drawing , and death is next to him, accompanying him with his music. If we look at the painting more carefully, there is only one string left on the violin played by the skeleton . This is quite interesting because if we think about it , the moment that last string breaks, the music will stop and Bocklin will die. Just like in real life. However, Bocklin does not look at skeleton , he's minding his own business. Judging by the fact that his eyes are filled with tears, he feels the presence of death, but he chooses to continue his drawing rather than succumb to his fear.

These drawings and details tell us many things. It's not a solution to shorten our short lives by thinking about death. Death is already with us until our last breath and is waiting for that last string to break, just like us. So all we can do is live our lives to the fullest.

I choose "Yelpazeli Kadın" to introduce myself I actually have no exact idea why. But this masterpiece painted by Nazlı Ecevit somehow seems familiar to me looking at this piece I feel calmed and I have a familiar feeling that I can't describe. I'm not really into arts I'm more into music, but I really idolize Nazlı Ecevit maybe that's why the woman seems familiar.

When I first visited Anıtkabir (the mausoleum of Atatürk, the founder of Turkey), I was curious about the walls that resembled Egyptian statues. I hadn't conducted any specific research on this before. Now, a few years later, I know that they are called reliefs, and they hold a crucial place within the mausoleum as they depict Atatürk's principles, his revolutions, and the War of Independence.As I mentioned, they resemble Egyptian reliefs, but the artist who created this work of art is İlhan Koman.

İlhan Koman was a Turkish sculptor and is considered one of the influential figures of modern art. His works are typically in abstract geometric forms, and he made significant contributions to the art of sculpture. I believe one of his most intriguing works is "From Leonardo." In this work, "From Leonardo," he draws attention to the importance of perspective. Leonardo placed the human body in three circles in his famous pattern that inspired İlhan Koman. In the fourth circle added by İlhan Koman to the pattern, the human body has been transformed into a peace sign. According to Koman, when people are at peace, the city will be a place worth living in. With this idea, Koman reminds us of Atatürk's saying, "Peace at home, peace in the world." With these central ideas that he conveys in his works, Koman truly deserves to have his work included in Anıtkabir.

HAPPY 100th ANNIVERSARY MY DEAR TÜRKİYE

One of my biggest hobbies is listening to music: I love Italian and American rap music. 

Gue and Marracash are two of my favorite Italian rappers, so I had to choose one of their songs to represent myself.

“Brivido” by Guè and Marracash is a powerful and introspective song that explores the concept of searching for accomplishments beyond material possessions and superficial experiences. 

The main theme is the search for meaning in life and the desire for something deeper.

I chose this song because sometimes I only focus on superfluous and material things instead of going deeper into situations and concepts. I have to work with this private aspect in order to become a deeper person from certains points of view.

Looking at the painting we can see that the protagonist seems to have been caught in a moment of reflection, in fact we can notice her head bowed over a cup of coffee and her gaze apparently absent.

The work, executed with the oil painting technique and which is currently kept at the Des Moines Art Center in Iowa (USA), appears to the viewer like a photography that stops time, capturing a scene with a young woman in a diner in Manhattan, while she is about to sip her coffee.

Although it is an environment that is usually crowded with people, the place is characterized by melancholy and appears cold.

Furthermore, loneliness reigns, even though, with high probability, in the place immortalized by the artist there are also other people, perhaps intent on chatting with each other.

The woman appears, however, immersed in her thoughts, with her face half covered by a yellow hat that almost seems to filter her emotions. And she is so estranged from the reality that surrounds her that you can't even see the reflection of her figure in the window behind her.

To conclude I would like to say that personally this is precisely what struck me, as I often felt like the subject of this work.

But I think it's a very common thing in reality, feeling alone even among people, and I think that this is definitely one of the worst emotions you can feel, because it seems like a dark situation and that no one can help us get out of it.

The subject is a girl who has just woken up and is sitting on her bed. What the girl is doing is observing from her bedroom what is outside the window. The scene is made very special by the sunlight that comes in from outside the room, becoming the dominant element of the entire composition, illuminating both the walls of the room and the bed itself. The American painter has mixed warm and cold colours in a very impressive way, and even this trait itself somehow reflects my character.

From the window we can see very little: only the top floor of a typical New York City building. The main theme of Hopper's work is solitude, which is expressed through the eyes of the young girl. She seems to be silent, not expressing any emotion, she is quiet and immersed in her thoughts, in her world.

The bed is not unmade, but appears to be neatly arranged, indicating that the young woman slept alone, unable to tell anyone about her experiences, emotions and worries.

Despite this feeling of loneliness, there is also a desire for escape and freedom given precisely by the look outwards, as if to indicate a desire to go beyond the state of immobility in search of a better life, full of light and happiness.

Hello everyone! I’m António Barros and I’m 17 years old. I was born in 2006 in Lisbon, and I’ve lived here my all life. I’ve travelled quite a bit around Europe, I went to Italy, Belgium, France, Spain, among other countries. I’m studying in Carcavelos, in the scientific course in the 12^th grade, and I’m going to be a surgeon. I’m Catholic and I’m involved in various activities within the church, it’s a place where I always feel very comfortable. I love sports, any sport, but especially padel and snowboarding. I train and play padel here in Portugal. My family and I usually go to Andorra by car every year for snowboarding. It’s one of the big moments of my year. Lastly, I have a particular taste for music because my favorite music gender is “música pimba”. This music is typically played at village festivals in Portugal, especially in the summer, and I really enjoy this music style. That’s why I chose the song “Preço Certo” as it’s recent hit and quickly became the summer anthem here in Portugal. It reminds me of the vacations and village festivals I love so much. That’s why I picked it.

So what does this painting have to do with me? 

The first time I saw this painting I loved it, and I loved what it represented for the artist so, instead of choosing only the painting itself, I chose the meaning he wanted to give it. 

It would be too easy to say that I chose this painting because sometimes  I feel like people think I’m someone that I’m not, and the only way to show it is to specify it, because otherwise everyone would continue to mistake me for someone that I’m not. That could be true, but I actually want to show where people are wrong because they often simplify things. 

Rather than empathizing with the pipe therefore I empathize with the caption, which, using simple, neat writing, has a didactic function, wants to prove to everyone that they are trivializing reality. Moreover, the writing is an example of contradiction itself because its purpose, as a caption, is to name an object, but at the same time it is negating it. So, instead of describing who I am, I’m saying who I am not, I am not something apparent, I am something deeper, which, however, has no name.

Hello, I'm Pedro Paulos, I'm 16 years old and I come to talk about the song "Alma Nau" by Van Zee.

Van Zee's music is a deep dive into the complexities of life, the personal struggles, and the relationships that shape our journey. Each verse is a poetic narrative, a reflection that takes us through different emotional states.

The first part of the song seems to paint a vivid portrait of intense love, comparing the light on the loved one's face to the luminosity of the moon. The duality of time and fear is explored, suggesting a constant search for moments of authenticity, represented by the "naked soul". It is as if time, often feared, is faced and embraced to reach an inner truth.

After a long research, I chose "La classe de danse", by Edgar Degas, who is a French impressionist painter.

The title of this work expresses perfectly the scene which is painted: we can see a class of dancers and an inflexible old master who's teaching them the dance moves.

We can notice that all the young girls are in natural and different poses: someone is scratching their back, someone is waving a fan, somebody else is fixing their earrings or a clip and the ladies at the back of the room are sitting because they're tired.

There's only a person who is still following the lesson - which is now over - who is the girl in the middle.

In my case, the strict teacher represents life and all the dancers describe who I was and who I am, right now.

Honestly and unfortunately, I have a lot of regrets: I've always missed the opportunity to seize the moment and I couldn't even manage to learn from my mistakes, exactly as those who are learning nothing from their dancing master.

But this is the past.

Currently, instead, I see myself in the dancer who is eager to improve her skills: she works hard to achieve her goals and I want to follow her example to live happily and to be satisfied.

Our teacher asked my class to described ourself with a painting of the Modern Age, what an hard task!

I'm not really good in presentation so maybe a painting could really help me.

I've chosen an oil on canvas painted by Sr William Rothenstein. This is the description of the painting on the site of Manchester Art Gallery: view of the artist's wife, Alice Rothenstein sitting in a darkened room, gazing out of a window. The subject leans on a window sill, her chin resting on her right hand; her hair is tied back in a bun and she wears shawl around her shoulders. She sits in a domestic setting with floral curtains at the window, and a tall wooden cabinet with a small framed picture against the wall to the left.

Now it's time for my own my interpretation of the painting.

Often I find myself looking out of the window, as Alice, above all in the dark days where I contemplate the sky with no specific reason, sometimes just listening to the drops of water falling on the roof either on the leafs or on the street. Other times hoping to see the good weather coming. I loose myself in my internal thoughts.

Then, as you can see, the representation in the canvas is basic, the setting is ordinary that is exactly what I am a simple person, but behind the surface I like to see a vastness of feelings and thoughts. The only critique that I can make about the painting is that it isn't colourful, instead I love colours which permits to show different shades of our soul.

The painting depicts a yellow wheat field, cut by three lanes going in different directions, appearing shaken by the wind, like an agitated sea; a flock of black crows, rendered with simple zigzagging black lines, rises in a low, dishevelled flight, like vultures gliding towards a corpse. A storm, almost presaging mourning, looms over this landscape, anticipated by black, menacing clouds. The entire scene, realised with genuine creative fury, is composed of angry brushstrokes, which follow the directions of the perspective planes or overlap. One cannot consider this painting as a simple landscape. This masterpiece is a conscious symbolic transposition of a state of mind and an existential situation. It is a metaphor of the soul. Grain, in Van Gogh's various works, has always represented life: and it is not lost on him that, in Wheatfield with Crows in Flight, the three empty paths, which lead nowhere towards the unknown, seem instead to wound that golden expanse, to tear it as if by violent scissors. The sky, which would in itself be a reassuring blue, changes to darker and darker shades of colour because of the looming storm. In short, violent contrasts and blatant contradictions are captured in this image. On the other hand, Van Gogh himself wrote discordant phrases in those days: at times he claimed that his last paintings expressed 'sadness and extreme loneliness', at other times that they manifested 'health and regenerative forces'. In reality, Wheat Field with Crows in Flight allows us to grasp both of these aspects, because it is not a gloomy scene per se, but a scene of dark significance. The bright blue sky and the shining golden wheat are, as such, a triumph of vitality; however, they are about to succumb, overcome by the dark colour that covers them. Like the artist who paints them, in a last desperate plea for life.

I chose this painting precisely because I am a person with a fairly strong character, but there are times when I have emotional breakdowns and I tend to shut everything down when I am inside myself, without asking anyone for help precisely because I prefer to solve my problems on my own, without depending on someone's help. This is precisely why I find myself having to make choices that will affect my future, some easier but others more difficult. So I see this indecision within the picture with the path, which for me represent the choice of something that is very important and the only way to find out where the path will take us is to have to make a choice and face it to the end.

Gosto muito de praticar desporto, mais especificamente patinagem artística que pratico há pouco mais de dez anos. Desde que me lembro sempre fez parte da minha vida, ajudou-me muito a crescer como pessoa, a perceber os meus interesses, objetivos e a conhecer-me a mim própria. Acima de tudo ajudou-me a encarar a vida de outra forma, passei por muito, cumpri objetivos que sonhava quando era pequena e que realmente pareciam impossíveis,  ultrapassei fases menos boas e aprendi a lidar com muitas situações menos agradáveis mas sempre fui muito feliz.

Quer na  pintura de Vincent Van Gogh “ The starry night” , quer na música de Jordan Critz “Starry night”  reconheço, através de sensações visuais como auditivas, este lado da minha vida. Em ambos reconheço os momentos felizes, mas também  os obstáculos e fases menos boas que quando são ultrapassadas se tornam, muitas vezes, os momentos mais felizes.

Hello! My name is Matilde Gomes, I'm Portuguese and I'm 17 years old. I attend the Basic and Secondary School of Carcavelos, I am currently in the 12th grade in the science and technology course.

I really enjoy playing sports, more specifically figure skating which I have been practicing for a little over ten years. For as long as I can remember it has always been part of my life, it has helped me a lot to grow as a person, to understand my interests, goals and to get to know myself.

Above all, it helped me to face life in a different way, I went through a lot, I fulfilled goals that I dreamed of when I was little and that really seemed impossible, I overcame less good phases and learned to deal with many less pleasant situations but I was always very happy.

Whether in Vincent Van Gogh's painting "The Starry Night" or in Jordan Critz's song "Starry Night" I recognize, through visual and auditory sensations, this side of my life.

In both I recognize the happy moments, but also the obstacles and less good phases that, when overcome, often become the happiest moments.

I am a very perfectionist person who, many times, when the time comes to show my work I get anxious because I want everything to be perfect in addition to often thinking "what will they think of me" or "will I be within expectations?".

Both this song and this painting calm me down, and remind me that I just have to be happy on the dance floor and enjoy my moment without thinking about others or doing for others but thinking about myself, doing it for me.

I decided to choose the song “hometown glory” by Adele because it is my favorite song among all her other incredible songs.

Adele wrote “Hometown Glory” when she was my current age and it is based on her relationship with her hometown of London.

In particular, the song talks about how our roots, our culture and our education never cease to be part of us, no matter how far we are from home.

Just like Adele, I also have a great connection with my hometown, Lisbon, where I also created a very special relationship with so many people.

Whenever I hear this song, despite having a sad melody, it makes me feel really good because I remember all the good moments of my life in my hometown.

Let us begin with the subject of the painting, Lunia Czechowska, a fascinating and enigmatic woman. The Dance has been interpreted in many ways, with many people seeing it as a symbol of joy and freedom. The painting is a dynamic composition and there is the use of bright colors.

I chose this painting because I think it can represent me as it reminds me of dynamism, something constantly changing, just like my character.

The painting represents the bedroom of his apartment located in Arles, France, where he lived for most of his life.

We can find various elements like the bed, two chairs and a small desk and finally a window.

Personally I have chosen this painting mainly because it has a personal attachment more than representing myself.

“Vincent’s room at Arles” is one of the first paintings that I saw when I was a child during an exposition at Arles I saw with my mother, so it is one of those works that is more impressed in my memory than others.

But if I have to tell something that represent myself, I think I would say that the feeling we can express in the artwork is a sensation of calm, which I consider part of my character when, for example, I find myself in front of certain situations that can be considered stressful.

I chose the song "die for you" by The weeknd, because I identify a lot with this song due to the fact that it talks about love.

The weekend in most of his songs, especially in this one, expresses a lively, intense and unconditional love, just as I feel because, as I am a very sentimental person, the meaning of the songs end up having a significant impact on me.

my name is Marinela Horvat. I am Croatian language teacher and I love my job. It gives me opportunity to work with young people who challenge me to change and be in step with their time. Sometimes that means to live a very busy and hectic life and not having enough time to do my hobbies. That is why I choose this painting by a contemporary artist from Petrinja whose magic hands are able to stop time and bring out beauty and stillness in life. No mater what we do in our lives we should all be conected to nature and find inspiration in it.

I have a very long history specially with German because I lived my early years of my childhood in Switzerland I was severely bullied there,,and after living 4 years there I needed to come back to Portugal because the bullying was to much for small me at the time.

A way I would escape from all the drama there was music,,music and basketball pushed me trough all the heavy stuff I went trough psychologically in the country,, and that makes me get to the point,,I picked this image of my favorite player hearing music due to the association of the sport and music I mentioned earlier,,he is my favorite player not only because I like his style of play but the similarities I find in my game compared to his,,and because he comes from a background where he was bullied due to his height at the time and me as a undercised guard(position I play in) really hit me in the heart and made me believe I can achieve success just like he did.

I love to draw while listening to music. My favorite subjetc is geography. I play football for Estoril Praia club as a goalkeeper. I go to the gym and always try to stay in shape and eat well. I am a Swift. And I think the song that describes me the most is "All I want to christmas is you" by Mariah Carey, because Christmas is my favorite time of year, not just because I also like winter, but because I like spending time with the people I love most.

I have double nacionality, Portuguese and Angolan. I did swimming when I was younger and I have played football recently. My hobbies are playing football, videogames and walking my dog. I really like going out, listening to music, going to the cinema, the beach, the pool, meeting friends… I live with my parents, two brothers and my dog. I have chosen this paiting by Antonio Doreste, wich shows a seaescape with a calm sea. This paiting relates to me because I consider myself a calm, peaceful person who likes the sea, shows my personality and how I am always positive. The waves in my point of view represents life because it has ups and downs. And this was my presentation and I really enjoy being here.

I chose the song "What was I made for?" by Billie Eilish for quite a few reasons. Billie is one of my favourite artists. Her songs in my opinion have a great beat, are full of emotions and are much more than just "music".
