As a society develops and changes throughout the course of time, the views of individuals on social norms tend to change as well in order to accommodate newer and better ideas. As for social values, because they have always been an abstract form of absolute good and evil, minor changes in place and time is unable to affect it.

In the Arab and African families, it was was more official and traditional to have arranged marriages. The man would approach the women's family, and she gets informed and they continue from there. Also the idea of purity was popular in regards of women. It was more acceptable for males to have more relationships than women.

Dating is very convenient nowadays. It is much easier and accessible for people to meet each other. Young adults are the main age group that are involved with dating. Now it is seen as more casual, and you are able to freely express yourself.


What does this suggest about norms and values?
The idea of norms and values is very dynamic, it can change over time due to numerous reasons like technology advancing.
