As a Muslim person, religion means a lot to me. I don't practice, but I still believe and have faith. My family was never really close to religion, but we still consider ourselves Muslims. For me, religion is something that reunites people, and it is common to most of the people around me. I visited the mosque three times and had an amazing experience. On the other hand, my ancestors used to have a different religion, which is called Tengrianism. You need to pray for the sun, fire, or sky. They had different rules and viewpoints of the world. I will be honest with you, Tengrianism feels closer to me, than Islam. However, most of the people in my country combine and mix these religions and somehow live like that.

I am from a secular country, but my country has always been close to religion. Since childhood, I knew basic things about Islam, and even at home, we tried not to push the tradition. However, Kazakhstan is a multicultural and multireligious country-model country of multi-faith coexistence. That’s why I’ve always respected other religions and nations. My brother and I have always supported very simple but correct rules. For example, always support and help elders, help those in need, and try not to offend anyone. In my opinion, all these habits from childhood helped me become who I am today.

For me personally, an important aspect of my life is family. For me, family is my number one priority. Because of my culture and traditions, as a man and the oldest brother in the family, I also need to take care of my sibling's family and relatives. Overall, for me, the number one priority in my life is my family. In the future, my family will be my number one priority too. In our culture, it says that you can face a lot of problems and still be good. However, If something happens with your family, you are going to be guilty. I can see the difference between my and American culture, where family values are not so important.

What is your understanding of the truth?

In my view, truth is what I personally believe to be correct, but I understand that it can vary from one person to another. Generally speaking, truth involves a match between what we say or believe and the actual state of things. It’s about aligning with facts, reality, or how things genuinely are, regardless of how we might perceive or interpret them.

What words, images, and sounds, would you use to describe this ambiguous and elusive concept?

In my opinion, beauty can be found in different places and for different people. If we are talking about appearance, for me, beauty it’s something that gives me joy to look at and that gives me inspiration and motivation. However, beauty could also be something that we can not see or feel. For example, there can be beauty inside the person. You can see that kind of beauty, when you have feeling to somehow.

Discuss the traditions, customs, or practices from your culture that you hold dear and explain why they are important to you.

In Kazakh culture, we have a tradition of giving bata."Bata" in Kazakh culture refers to a traditional gesture of respect and hospitality, often expressed through the giving of gifts, usually as food, drinks, or other items. It's a way to show appreciation, honor, or gratitude towards guests, hosts, or individuals who are deserving of recognition. Giving bata fosters goodwill and strengthens social bonds within the community, reflecting the importance of hospitality and generosity in Kazakh traditions. It's an important tradition for me because Kazakh people were giving bata for entire our culture.

Reflect on your own beliefs regarding the relationship between religion and war. How do your religious or spiritual views inform your perspective on this issue?

Throughout all of our history, religion has been the reason for many wars, which have led to the deaths of millions and even billions of people. People fought for their religion and faith. Even now, there are a lot of conflicts and wars happening because of religious conflicts. For example, the war between Palestine and Israel. However, in my opinion, in our time, all religious conflicts also connect with politics, so it's not all about religion in those wars.

How would you describe the power of symbols? Identify a symbol that is important to you. From your perspective, how important are they to our lives?

Symbols play an important role not only in religion but overall in human history. In religion, people used to use symbols to show their religion, nationality, or tripe. Each symbol contains unique information, traditions, and culture. We could see symbols in different wars, religious pictures, and e.t.c. For me, symbols are also important, because my ancestors used to draw and make a lot of symbols. Most of the symbols were part of their culture and traditions and represented their tripe. They even do tattoos with their tripes symbols.

Reflect on the importance of laughter and humor in your relationships with others and with life. How does sharing a laugh impact your connections with friends, family, colleges, and the world around you?

I think humor and making jokes are the number one instruments to make new friends and connections. Have you ever noticed, that most of the people who have good humor, always have a bunch of friends and can make a new one easily? Humor connects people with others and makes boundaries disappear. If you are good at it and are in a good mood, you will also find friends at your job, school, clubs, and streets. For example, me myself always try to joke around and be in a good mood, and it; 's easy for me to make new connections.

What cultural or religious elements are you able to identify in sports or athletic events?

As an example, we can talk about how football players (real football) make religious signs and practices when they are stepping on the field or scoring a goal. One more example of it is how during Ramadan, football matches stop for 20-30 minutes, and Muslim players can during some water and eat some food. It shows how religion and sport can connect people.
