Things in public domain can be used at any time, in any fashion due to the copy right running out on it.

Fair use falls into 4 different categories: Purpose & Character of Use, Nature of the Original, Effect on the Market, and Amount & Substance.

A second way is to create group projects, and the groups post their findings for the whole class to read.
