The new Eko CORE 500 stethoscope is an upgraded, digitally enhanced stethoscope. According to Alice Ferng (2023), this new stethoscope has the ability to record a 3-lead ECG and uses amplification to cancel out environmental noises. The recordings are available in the Eko app, which uses AI to detect cardiac abnormalities and arrhythmias, analyzing the ECG in less than one minute (Ferng, 2023).

Opinion and rationale

The digital aspect of this new stethoscope will allow providers more flexibility in their practice by allowing them to re-listen to patients or easily get a second opinion. Technology has advanced so much since our country began practicing medicine, so many patients' live have been saved because of it. I don't know if this is one of the medical advances that will help us to save countless of lives. Although I think it is great to re-listen to patients without having to go see them again, I don't think it's worth the expense. This advanced technology will be outdated in a few years and a new model will be released. Anyone who buys this stethoscope will eventually be forced to buy a newer model as technology is advancing rapidly. Analog stethoscopes still work and have worked for over four thousand years. I'm sure one day there will be a better invention to take analog stethoscopes out of the equation, but in my opinion this is not that innvovation.

I think it's important to have a variety of skills in a group, which is why I chose a team member from each talent theme. I also believe having people with the same talents working together makes a team work efficiently. I chose two people with strategic thinking as their talent theme because three of my five strengths fall under this talent theme.

Because three of my top five skills are strategic thinking, I believe I will work well with a variety of team members who are also strong in strategic thinking. I am a hard working person and with relator (relationship building) as my top strength, I believe I have the ability to work well with any member of a group.
