In this unit, students will develop and use strategies & methods (concrete models, pictorial models, area model, & properties of operations) for fraction computation (operations) to solve problems.

The first week back we will review what a fraciton is and learn how to add and subtract with unlike denominators.

In this module, students will listen to, read, and view a variety of texts and media that present them with information about the people who settled the West.

A genre focus on informational texts provides students with opportunities to identify central ideas, text structure, and author's craft techniques in order to better understand unfamiliar texts. Students will also encounter personal historical fiction to build knowledge across genres.

As students build their vocabulary and synthesize topic knowledge, they will learn about the settlers' varied experiences.

During snack time, students have a chance to refuel and recharge. We give them a quick 5-minute break to enjoy a healthy snack. Please send your student a tasty, nutritious snack to keep their energy up and their minds ready to learn.

  • 94 degrees or heat index above 99: 25 minutes max outside.

  • Above 100 degrees or heat index above 105: No outdoor activities.

• Cold Guidelines:

  • Below 32 degrees or wind chill below 30: 25 minutes max outside.

  • Temps below 20 degrees: No outdoor activities.

Here are some suggestions for valuable at-home activities that can enhance your child's skills:

📚 Read Together: Explore the wonders of literature by reading books together. Reading is a fantastic way to expand vocabulary and imagination, whether it's a bedtime story or an afternoon adventure.

🧮 Math Enrichment: Utilize the EnVision workbook to practice math problems at home. This will reinforce the day's lessons and allow your child to master key mathematical concepts.

📝 Assignment Catch-Up or Ahead: If your child is particularly enthusiastic about a certain subject, feel free to explore related topics or assignments from class. Likewise, use this time to catch up on incomplete tasks and ensure a solid understanding of the material.

Remember, the goal is to create a positive and engaging learning experience for your child. Encourage them to spend at least 15-30 minutes daily on these activities, tailoring the time to suit your family's schedule.
