Welcome to ELAC 33! My name is Stephanie Lange-Velazquez, and I am from Puerto Rico. I am married, and I am an empty nester. :) My husband and I love to travel and go cruising around the world. I've been teaching ESL courses for the past 20 years, in San Diego, CA. My favorite part of teaching is seeing my students growth and accomplishing their goals. This is a special semester because two of my former students are now ESL professors, and that makes my heart flutter with pride. I'm looking forward to meet you all and work alongside you during the fall 2025.

Afghanistan is a landlocked country located in South-Central Asia. It shares borders with Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and China. The capital city is Kabul.

Afghanistan has a very long and rich history. It has been an important crossroads of trade and culture, connecting the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia through the famous Silk Road. Many empires and civilizations, such as the Persians, Greeks, Mauryans, Mongols, and Mughals, influenced Afghan culture.

Afghanistan is famous for its poetry, music, carpets, and hospitality. Life has been difficult in recent years because of war, but the Afghan people are strong and proud of their culture.

But in San Diego, there are not too many spicy restaurants, so I cook for myself and my family. I have 2 kids; we always do the sports together, like tennis and badminton. We have a lot of fun!
