Mexico may be her parent's home, but it definitely isn't her's. When her Cousin Lupe comes and visits unexpectedly she feels left out because Lupe and her parents have a great connection and she thinks it may be bigger than hers. Then she feels like her relationship with her cousin becomes something she can't lose. Eventually, she accepts that she was born in Texas but Mexico is where her roots are and where her forever cousin (sister) Lupe was born.
