Learning Target: Recognize the importance of studying another language and how it can positively affect culture, society, and career options. 

Task: Create a presentational video in Spanish and English for an audience of middle school students to inform them about the benefits of studying another language. 

Purpose: To demonstrate your Spanish speaking skills AND to share the personal importance to you of studying language, how it impacts your life, and how it may play a role in your future life or career.

You may work on your own, with a partner, or in a small group of 3-4. (Remember, the speaking should be balanced among all group members.)

Task description:

A. Introduce yourself in Spanish and describe yourself (interests, student info, and what you do outside of school) in Spanish for about 1 minute each.

B. In Spanish, briefly describe why learning another language is important to you. Explain how it can benefit you beyond high school.

BONUS: can you use the expression, "vale la pena?" The idea of something being "worth it" is definitely something you could connect here.

C. Finally, explain it in English: why is it important, especially in our world today, that we know another language? Think broadly: communication, connections, cultures, comparisons, community. This doesn't have to be (and should not be) an exact translation of what you said in Spanish.

This will be for a presentational speaking grade.
