the author persuades you by Telling you about plants and how to plant them and telling you that it is good for the enviroment on page 318 and 319 and 314 and 316. basically the whole story but yesh :)))))))))))))) on page 316 the author tells us that the victoy gardens got people to plant and succsesfully helped people get food during the war. Since the ships couldn't come inland, people had to plant their own gardens.
