The colonists lost at Lexington but won at Concord.</div><div>   <br>   Who won and why: In the end the colonists won because they overwhelmed the British soldiers by attacking them before they could organize themselves.<br><br></div>]]></description>

But the British got trapped for two weeks in this one part because there were a lot of colonists. They tried to fight another part of the area but then they surrendered because they had no reinforcements and there were too many colonists.<br><br></div><div><br>Who won and why: The colonists because they overwhelmed the British. This was a turning point because the French arrived to help the colonists after Saratoga.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Date: October 1781<br><br></div><div><br>Location: Yorktown, Virginia<br><br></div><div><br>Recap in your own words: The British soldiers in Yorktown were trapped by thousands of American and French troops. They could not receive troops because the bay near by was blockaded by the French Navy. The Americans bombarded the town for weeks until the British surrendered. This was the last major battle of the Revolution because the British had lost a third of their forces and could not fight on.<br><br></div><div><br>Who won and why: The Americans because they trapped the British and set up a successful blockade that prevented reinforcements from getting through to the British.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Date: Early 1783<br><br></div><div><br>Location: Paris, France<br><br></div><div><br>Recap in your own words: After the battle of Yorktown, the British saw that the American Revolution was too costly so they signed the treaty of Paris which ment that they had to recognize the 13 colonies as an independent country. It also said that they had to give up the land west of the Mississippi river and return confiscated property to loyalists.  <br><br></div><div><br>Who won and why: For the Americans this was a victory because this signaled that they were now independent from Britain.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Date: June 17, 1775<br><br></div><div><br>Location:  Boston<br><br></div><div><br>Recap in your own words: The colonial militia found out that the British planed to take Breed's hill and Bunker hill. So in the night they took the hills and fortified them. When the British attacked the militia had the high ground and took out a lot of the British soldiers. The colonists lost because they ran out of ammunition. But they managed to kill more than a thousand British soldiers. If they had not run out of ammunition then they would have won.<br><br></div><div><br>Who won and why: The British won the battle but the colonists had a Pyrrhic victory since they killed more than a thousand British soldiers.<br><br></div>]]></description>
