Ever since then, I started journaling with my kids. We started to specifically journal for summer& winter breaks. Even when my kids were too small to “write” at that time. We did journal by drawing pictures, and then adult helpers wrote down the story. Gradually, more words appeared, less pictures were illustrated. (The kids still enjoy the picture where if they want to be “lazy” they can draw more pictures in stead of writing. ) We found this to be a really “quality connecting” time with the kids at the same time encourage them to write. It is a fun activity for the most part! :) Now we keep on journaling even during school times, just changed to once a week.
