They would get whipped and beaten if tried to start up a fight with a slave auctioneer.
  I believe that slaves felt very disrespected by what people would do to them. People would pinch there muscles to see if they were buff enough to do a job. They would check there teeth. People didn't care about the slaves feelings. They didn't know how hard it was for slaves to be away from their families just to work for other people. If you were born to a slave family, you would become a slave when you get older. Slaves were not treated like humans. They were treated like they were just nothing to care about. Slaves would try to escape their masters to get far North. Slaves would have to go to Canada to escape because there was slave hunters. But, Canada did not believe that there should be slaves. So, most slaves that escaped their masters would go to Canada. A lot of slaves were caught too. So, they go to their masters and they might cut of your fingers. They might chain them up. They might even hang you so you die. But, most did not do that so they still had their slaves instead of paying more money for slaves.
