Programmatic is the main form of
display investment. Retargeting is an important tactic to remind people about brands they have interacted with.
• Digital messaging – including text messaging, mobile push notifications, co-branded
emails, event-triggered emails and ads in third-party e-newsletters for acquisition, and e-newsletters and campaign emails to house lists.
• Social media marketing – engaging audiences on different social networks and on a company’s own site through sharing content and developing great creative concepts that are transmitted by online word-of-mouth or viral marketing.

Value of different forms of social media marketing:

With an effective viral agent, it is possible to reach a large number at a relatively low cost. Influencers in social networks can be significant and existing customers can be used for advocacy. Paid advertising options may be effective.

Options for using online PR to promote a new product:

Maximizing favorable mentions of the
company, brands, products, or websites on third-party websites that
are likely to be visited by their target audience. Online or digital PR
can extend the reach and awareness of a brand within an audience and will also generate backlinks vital to SEO.
It can also be used to support viral or word-of-mouth marketing activities in other media.

• Cold email campaign. In this case, the recipient receives an opt-in email from an organization that has rented an email list from a consumer email list or trade publisher and event provider. List rental is not practical today under privacy laws since permission hasn’t been sought. Instead, co-branded emails and newsletters are used.
• Co-branded email. Here, the recipient receives an email with an offer from a company they have an affinity with and from whom they have agreed to receive ads, for example a publisher or retailer.
• Third-party e-newsletter. In this visitor acquisition option, a company publicizes itself in a third-party e-newsletter. This could be in the form of an ad, sponsorship or PR (editorial) in a publisher newsletter, which links through to a destination site. These placements may be set up as part of an interactive advertising ad buy since many e-newsletters also have permanent versions on the website. Since e-newsletter recipients tend to engage with them by scanning the headlines or reading them if they have time, e-newsletter placements can be relatively cost-effective.

Affiliate marketing:

Strengths: The performance marketing approach of payment is by results (e.g. 5 percent of sales or leads go to the referring site).

Weaknesses: This is only relevant for businesses with online sales. Incurs the cost of payments to affiliate networks for setup and management fees. Changes to the ranking algorithm have reduced the volume of affiliates using search.

Online promotion techniques refer to various strategies used to promote products, services, or brands through digital channels. Here are some examples:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): SEO involves optimizing a website to improve its visibility on search engine result pages. It includes keyword research, on-page optimization, link building, and technical optimizations to rank higher in search engine rankings.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising: PPC advertising involves placing ads on search engines or other websites and paying a fee each time a user clicks on the ad. Examples include Google Ads and Bing Ads.

Social Media Advertising: This technique involves promoting products or services through paid ads on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn. Ad targeting options allow businesses to reach specific demographics or interests.

Content Marketing: Content marketing focuses on creating and distributing valuable and relevant content to attract and engage a target audience. It can include blog posts, articles, videos, infographics, and more.

Influencer Marketing: Influencer marketing involves collaborating with influential individuals on social media platforms to promote a product or service. Influencers have a dedicated following and can help reach a specific target audience.

Social media marketing offers several benefits for businesses:

Increased Brand Awareness: Social media platforms provide an opportunity to reach a wide audience and increase brand visibility. By sharing engaging content and interacting with users, businesses can expand their reach and attract new customers.

Targeted Advertising: Social media platforms offer advanced targeting options, allowing businesses to reach specific demographics, interests, or behaviors. This helps in delivering personalized messages to the right audience.

Customer Engagement: Social media facilitates direct interaction with customers. Businesses can respond to queries, address concerns, and build relationships with their audience, fostering customer loyalty and advocacy.

Content Distribution: Social media provides a platform to share and distribute content. Businesses can share blog posts, videos, infographics, and other valuable content to educate and engage their audience.

Data Insights: Social media platforms provide analytics and insights into audience demographics, engagement, and performance metrics. This data can help businesses refine their marketing strategies and make data-driven decisions.

Online PR can be an effective way to promote a new product. Some options for using online PR include:

Press Releases: Issuing a well-crafted press release can help generate media coverage and create buzz around the new product. Press releases can be distributed through online news wires and sent directly to targeted journalists or industry influencers.

Blogger Outreach: Reaching out to influential bloggers or industry-specific websites can help generate product reviews or features. Building relationships with relevant bloggers can increase the chances of getting exposure to their audience.

Social Media Influencers: Collaborating with social media influencers who have a strong following in the target market can help create awareness and generate product endorsements. Influencers can share their experiences with the new product, creating credibility and reaching their engaged audience.

Online Events: Hosting virtual events, such as webinars or product launch livestreams, can help create excitement and generate media coverage. These events provide an opportunity to showcase the new product and engage with the audience in real-time.

Email marketing can support lifecycle marketing objectives by nurturing customer relationships and driving specific actions at different stages of the customer lifecycle. Here's how it can be used:

Awareness Stage: Email marketing can be used to deliver valuable content and educational materials to prospects. This helps build brand awareness and establish credibility.

Consideration Stage: Email campaigns can provide product information, customer testimonials, and case studies to help prospects make informed decisions. Automated drip campaigns can deliver relevant content based on user behavior or preferences.

Purchase Stage: Emails can be used to send personalized offers, discounts, or recommendations to encourage customers to make a purchase. Abandoned cart emails can remind customers to complete their purchase and provide incentives if necessary.

Post-Purchase Stage: Email marketing can nurture customer relationships after the purchase. This can include order confirmations, shipping updates, and post-purchase surveys. Loyalty programs and exclusive offers can also be communicated through email.

By segmenting the email list and delivering targeted content, businesses can guide customers through the lifecycle and maximize customer retention and satisfaction.

Affiliate marketing can have both strengths and weaknesses for retailers:

Strengths:

Performance-Based: Retailers only pay affiliates when they successfully drive a desired action, such as a sale or lead. This allows for cost-effective marketing since payment is directly tied to results.

Expanded Reach: Affiliate marketing enables retailers to tap into the affiliate's existing audience and reach a wider customer base. Affiliates may have established trust and influence with their audience, which can benefit the retailer.

Diverse Marketing Channels: Affiliates can promote products through various channels, including websites, blogs, social media, and email lists. This increases the retailer's online presence and exposes the products to different audiences.

Weaknesses:

Lack of Control: Retailers have limited control over how affiliates promote their products, which can impact brand perception and messaging consistency. It's crucial to choose reputable affiliates and establish clear guidelines.

Commission Costs: Retailers need to allocate a portion of their revenue as commissions for affiliates. Depending on the commission structure and the profitability of the products, this cost can impact the overall profitability of the retailer.

Fraud and Quality Concerns: Affiliate marketing can be susceptible to fraud, such as fake referrals or misleading practices. Retailers need to monitor affiliate activities and ensure the quality of leads or sales generated to protect their brand reputation.

Competition and Cannibalization: In some cases, affiliates may compete with the retailer's own marketing efforts or bid against them in paid search advertising. This can lead to increased competition and potential cannibalization of organic traffic or sales.

Dependency on Affiliates: Retailers relying heavily on affiliate marketing may become overly dependent on the performance of affiliates. If an affiliate stops promoting or their performance declines, it can have a significant impact on the retailer's marketing efforts.

Overall, affiliate marketing can be a valuable channel for retailers to expand their reach and drive sales. However, careful management and monitoring are necessary to ensure brand integrity and maximize the effectiveness of the program.

Each form offers unique opportunities to reach and interact with target audiences. 3. Options for using online PR to promote a new product include distributing press releases through online platforms and PR distribution services, engaging with industry influencers and bloggers for product reviews and mentions, hosting virtual events or webinars to showcase the product, and leveraging social media to share news and updates about the product launch. 4. Email marketing can support lifecycle marketing objectives by delivering targeted messages to subscribers at different stages of the customer lifecycle, such as welcome emails for new subscribers, promotional emails for active customers, re-engagement emails for inactive subscribers, and loyalty rewards for repeat purchasers. By segmenting email lists and crafting personalized content, email marketing can nurture leads, drive conversions, and foster customer loyalty. 5. Positive reviews can build credibility and trust among potential customers.

Blog and Blogging

Blogs give an effective method for companies to regularly publish articles, images and video

to engage their prospects, customers and influencers.

Really Simple Syndication (RSS)

feed Blog, news or other content is published by an XML standard and syndicated for other sites or read by users in RSS reader software services. Now typically shortened to ‘feed’, e.g. news feed or sports feed.

Content Marketing:

Create compelling content such as blog posts, articles, videos, and infographics that showcase the benefits and uses of the new product. Share this content across your website, blog, social media channels, and email newsletters.

Email Marketing:

Send dedicated email campaigns to your subscriber list announcing the new product, offering exclusive discounts or early access, and encouraging recipients to share the news with their networks.

4. How can email marketing be used to support lifecycle marketing objectives?

Awareness: People have a problem they need to find a solution for. Here, you’ll want to grab their attention by establishing a brand presence across multiple channels. Ideally, they’ll click on something interesting and sign up for your email list.

Knowledge and interest: People are eager to dig deeper and find out how your products or services can solve their problem. They’ve subscribed to your email list and now your goal is to become an authority and establish trust.

Consideration: They’re interested in what you have to offer, but need to be nurtured. Now is the time to send middle- and bottom-of-funnel content that speaks more directly to their problems and how you can specifically solve them.

Selection: This is when potential customers are comparing your product or services to other companies. Keep nurturing them with reasons why you are the best choice compared to the competition. Emails including webinars, case studies, white papers, relevant testimonials and product demo work well here.

Purchase: The point at which a subscriber converts. This is an exciting stage, but it’s by no means the end. After purchase comes post-sale and post-purchase emails.

Satisfaction: Here, you’ll want to keep new customers happy. Share transactional emails like thank you emails, offer special discounts, etc. Happy customers spend more, engage more and advocate.

Retention and loyalty: After some time has passed, it’s important to reengage customers. Here, you can run “refer a friend” campaigns, ask for their feedback on what you’ve done well (and where you can improve) and look for cross-sell and upsell opportunities.

Advocacy: Many people turn to their peers or friends first when looking to make a purchase. Social proof and recommendations are a powerful marketing tactic to leverage. Ask for referrals, run creative email campaigns that encourage or incentivize advocacy to drive engagement and satisfaction.

5. Briefly evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of affiliate marketing for a retailer.

Strength: Firstly, it is a cost-effective strategy as retailers only pay commissions upon successful sales, eliminating upfront advertising costs. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for retailers to expand their reach by tapping into new audiences and markets through affiliate partnerships. Moreover, the performance-based nature of affiliate marketing incentivizes affiliates to drive quality traffic and conversions, resulting in a more efficient use of marketing resources. Furthermore, the scalability of affiliate programs allows retailers to easily grow their network of affiliates and extend their market presence.

Weaknesses: One notable drawback is the lack of control over how affiliates promote products, potentially leading to brand misrepresentation or low-quality promotion. Additionally, high commission rates can erode profit margins, particularly for low-margin products. Moreover, retailers become reliant on affiliates for sales, and any decline in affiliate performance could adversely impact revenue. Furthermore, there is a risk of affiliate fraud, such as fake referrals or cookie stuffing, which can undermine the effectiveness of the program and harm the retailer's reputation.

This makes it a cost-effective advertising strategy compared to traditional advertising methods.

Expanded Reach: Affiliates can help retailers reach new audiences and niche markets that they may not have been able to target otherwise. Affiliates often have established followings or networks within specific industries or demographics, which can broaden the retailer's reach.

Increased Traffic and Sales: By leveraging the promotional efforts of affiliates, retailers can drive targeted traffic to their website, resulting in increased sales and conversions. If key affiliates discontinue their promotional efforts or switch to promoting competitors' products, retailers may experience fluctuations in revenue and traffic.

Commission Costs: While affiliate marketing can be cost-effective, retailers must still pay commissions to affiliates for each successful referral or sale.

1. One of the key strategies is Search Engine Marketing (SEM), which encompasses both Paid Search (PPC) and Organic Search (SEO). PPC involves bidding on keywords to display ads in search engine results, while SEO focuses on optimizing website content to rank higher in unpaid search results. Social Media Email Marketing remains a powerful tool for direct communication with customers, delivering promotional messages and updates directly to their inboxes. Display Advertising involves placing visual ads on websites and apps, targeting specific audiences for maximum impact. Public Relations (PR) efforts utilize media outlets, influencers, and events to generate positive brand coverage and reputation.

2. Organic Social Media:

+ Engagement and community building: Organic social media allows businesses to interact directly with audiences, foster relationships, answer queries and build a sense of community around the brand there.

+ Brand visibility and awareness: Regularly posting relevant content keeps the brand visible in users' feeds, increasing brand recall and awareness.

+ User-generated content (UGC): Encouraging users to create and share brand-related content can enhance reach and credibility. Paid social media advertising:

+ Targeted reach: Paid social advertising allows for precise targeting based on demographics, interests, behavior, and even specific stages of the customer journey , ensuring the message reaches the right audience.

+ Enhanced visibility and conversions: Ads can increase visibility beyond organic reach and drive specific actions like website visits, lead generation, or sales conversions row.

Influencer Marketing:

+ Authenticity and trust: Collaborating with influencers allows brands to leverage their audience's credibility and trust, leading to more authentic and relatable content.

+ Extended reach: Influencers often have dedicated followers who trust their recommendations, leading to increased brand visibility and potential customer acquisition.

+ Targeted messaging: Brands can partner with influencers whose audiences match their target demographic, ensuring that marketing messages resonate effectively.

3. Press Release: Distribute carefully crafted press releases to relevant online media, industry blogs and news websites to announce new product launches. Optimize press releases with relevant keywords to increase search engine visibility and shares on social media platforms.

Media outreach: Identify key journalists, bloggers, and online influencers in your industry and present them with personalized stories or product reviews. Offer exclusive access or early testing of new products to online influencers to generate positive buzz and coverage.

Content Marketing: Create engaging and informative content such as blog posts, articles, infographics, and videos that highlight new product features, benefits, and unique selling points. Share this content on your website, social media channels, and industry platforms to engage and educate potential customers.

Social media campaign: Develop a social media campaign specifically focused on promoting new products, including launch posts, product launches, customer testimonials, and interactive content. Leverage paid social media advertising to reach your target audience segments and drive engagement and conversions.

Influencer partnerships: Collaborate with relevant influencers in your industry or niche to endorse and promote new products to their followers. Consider running influencer marketing campaigns where influencers create content, host giveaways, or share their experiences with products.

4. Awareness stage:

+ Welcome Email: Send personalized welcome emails to new subscribers or prospects to introduce your brand, set expectations, and provide valuable information about your product or service . Educational content: Share informative content like blog posts, guides, or videos to educate potential customers about industry trends, challenges, and solutions, building your brand as a resource reliable source.

Decision stage:

+ Promotions: Offer discounts, promotions or exclusive offers through email campaigns to encourage purchasing decisions and drive conversions.

+ Limited-time offers: Create urgency by sending emails with limited-time offers, flash sales, or product bundles to remind prospects to take action immediately.

+ Post-purchase emails: Send order confirmations, shipping notifications, and thank you emails after purchases to reassure customers, provide order details, and express gratitude.

+ Email feedback/surveys: Collect feedback through surveys, reviews, or feedback forms to understand customer satisfaction, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen relationships.

Movement phase:

+ Referral program: Encourage satisfied customers to refer friends and family by offering incentives or rewards for successful referrals through email campaigns.

+ User-generated content (UGC): Encourage customers to share experiences or user-generated content (such as photos or reviews) and feature them in email campaigns to demonstrate social proof association and support.

5. Affiliate marketing offers several strengths that can benefit retailers strategically. One key advantage is its cost efficiency, as retailers only pay commissions for desired actions like sales or leads, reducing upfront marketing costs. Additionally, affiliate marketing enables targeted marketing efforts by partnering with affiliates whose audiences align with the retailer's target demographics, increasing the chances of reaching interested customers. However, there are weaknesses to consider as well. A significant challenge lies in the dependency on affiliate performance, as variations in affiliate efforts can impact campaign consistency and results. Maintaining brand control across diverse affiliate channels can also be a concern, with different affiliates using varied messaging and promotional tactics that may not always align with the retailer's brand image. In highly competitive industries, the affiliate landscape may become saturated, leading to increased competition for customer attention and potentially lower conversion rates.

Briefly evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of affiliate marketing for a retailer.

Strengths

• SERPs visibility. Gain more visibility in the paid and natural listings of the SERPs (increase ‘share of search’ page).

• Reach different audiences. Can use different affiliates to target different audiences, product categories and related phrases.

• Responsiveness to marketplace changes. Affiliates may be more responsive than your in-house or agency teams in terms of algorithm changes for SEO or changes in bidding approaches for PPC. They are also great at identifying gaps in your search strategy. For example, they may be quicker at advertising on new products, or may use keyphrase variants that you haven’t considered.
• Target generic phrases in SERPs. Enables you to reach customers through generic phrases (e.g. ‘clothing’) at a relatively low cost if the affiliates secure better positions in natural listings.
• Increase reach in SERPs. Increase the reach of your brand or campaign since affiliate ads and links featuring you will be displayed on third-party sites.
• Generate awareness. Can be used to generate awareness of brand or new products for which a company is not well known.
• Diversity risk. Use of affiliates reduces the risk caused by temporary or more fundamental problems with your SEM management or other digital marketing programmes.

• Pay-per-performance. The costs of acquisition can be controlled well.

Weaknesses

• Incremental profit or sales may be limited. You may be cannibalising business you would have achieved anyway.

• Affiliates may exploit your brand name. This is particularly the case where affiliates exploit brand names by bidding on variations of it (for example ‘Dell’, ‘Dell Computers’ or ‘Dell laptop’) or by gaining a presence in the natural listings. Here there is already awareness. It is important to prevent this, and many affiliate programmes exclude brand bidding, although affiliates can have a role in displacing competitors from the listings for brand terms.
• May damage brand reputation. Your ads may be displayed on sites inconsistent with your brand image, such as gambling or pornography sites. Alternatively, creative may be out of date, which could be illegal.

• Programme management fees. If using an affiliate network to manage your campaigns they may take up to 30 per cent of each agreed affiliate commission as additional ‘network override’.
• Programme management time. Affiliate marketing is founded on forming and maintain- ing good relationships. This cannot be done through the agency alone and marketers within a company need to speak to their top affiliates.

Đăng ký

Question 1:

1. **Search Engine Marketing (SEM)**:

 - **Brief Explanation**: SEM involves promoting websites by increasing their visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs) through paid advertising, such as Google Ads.

 - **Example**: The main online promotion technique for SEM is keyword advertising, where advertisers bid on specific keywords related to their products or services. For example, a company selling fitness equipment might bid on keywords like "home gym" or "exercise equipment."

2. **Social Media Marketing (SMM)**:

 - **Brief Explanation**: SMM involves using social media platforms to connect with your audience, build brand awareness, and drive website traffic or sales.

 - **Example**: The main online promotion technique for SMM is influencer marketing, where brands collaborate with social media influencers to promote their products or services. For instance, a beauty brand might partner with a popular makeup artist on Instagram to showcase their products to a wider audience.

3. **Content Marketing**:

 - **Brief Explanation**: Content marketing focuses on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a target audience.

 - **Example**: The main online promotion technique for content marketing is blogging. Companies can create blog posts on topics related to their industry or target audience's interests to drive traffic to their website and establish thought leadership. For instance, a software company might write blog posts about industry trends, best practices, or how-to guides related to their software solutions.

4. **Email Marketing**:

 - **Brief Explanation**: Email marketing involves sending commercial messages to a group of people via email to promote products, services, or events.

 - **Example**: The main online promotion technique for email marketing is personalized email campaigns. Companies can segment their email list based on customer demographics, interests, or purchase history and send targeted, personalized emails to engage and convert subscribers. For example, an e-commerce retailer might send personalized product recommendations based on a customer's past purchases or browsing behavior.

Question 2:

1. **Organic Social Media Marketing**:

 - The value of organic social media marketing lies in its ability to build brand credibility, foster relationships with customers, and engage with the target audience in an authentic manner. By regularly posting relevant and valuable content, businesses can increase brand visibility, attract followers, and encourage user interaction. Organic social media efforts can also contribute to brand loyalty and advocacy as satisfied customers share their experiences with their networks.

2. **Paid Social Media Advertising**:

 - Paid social media advertising offers the advantage of precise targeting and scalability. By investing in paid ads, businesses can reach specific segments of their audience based on demographics, interests, behaviors, and more. This targeted approach increases the likelihood of reaching potential customers who are more likely to engage with the content or take desired actions, such as making a purchase or signing up for a newsletter. Additionally, paid social media advertising provides measurable results, allowing businesses to track their return on investment (ROI) and optimize campaigns for better performance.

3. **Influencer Marketing**:

 - Influencer marketing leverages the authority and reach of social media influencers to promote products or services to their followers. The value of influencer marketing lies in its ability to generate authentic and trustworthy endorsements that resonate with the influencer's audience. By collaborating with influencers who align with their brand values and target demographics, businesses can tap into their existing fan base and benefit from increased brand awareness, credibility, and engagement. Additionally, influencer marketing can drive traffic to the business's website, increase sales, and foster long-term relationships with both influencers and their followers.

Question 3:

1. **Press Releases**:

 - Writing and distributing press releases to announce the launch of the new product, highlighting its features, benefits, and unique selling points. Press releases can be distributed to media outlets, industry publications, and online news websites to generate publicity and coverage.

2. **Media Outreach**:

 - Reaching out to relevant journalists, bloggers, and influencers in the industry to pitch the new product and secure media coverage. This may involve building relationships with key media contacts, sending personalized pitches, and offering exclusive access or samples of the product

3. **Online Reviews and Influencer Partnerships**:

 - Collaborating with online influencers, bloggers, and reviewers to generate buzz and excitement around the new product. Offering influencers free samples or early access to the product in exchange for honest reviews and endorsements can help increase visibility and credibility among their followers.

4. **Social Media Campaigns**:

 - Creating engaging social media campaigns to promote the new product across various platforms.

5. **Content Marketing**:

 - Developing high-quality content, such as blog posts, articles, infographics, and videos, to educate and inform the target audience about the new product.

6. **Event Sponsorships and Partnerships**:

 - Sponsoring or partnering with relevant industry events, conferences, or trade shows to showcase the new product to a targeted audience of industry professionals and potential customers.

Question 4:

1. **Acquisition**:

 - Email marketing can support acquisition objectives by capturing leads through opt-in forms on the website or landing pages. Once users subscribe to the email list, businesses can send welcome emails or lead-nurturing campaigns to introduce them to the brand and encourage further engagement.

2. **Activation**:

 - Email marketing plays a crucial role in activating new customers or users by providing onboarding sequences or welcome series. These emails guide users through the initial steps of using the product or service, showcase its value proposition, and encourage them to take action.

3. **Retention**:

 - To support retention objectives, email marketing can be used to maintain regular communication with existing customers. Businesses can send newsletters, product updates, or exclusive offers to keep customers engaged and informed about relevant updates or promotions.

4. **Revenue**:

 - Email marketing is an effective channel for driving revenue by promoting products or services directly to subscribers. Businesses can use email campaigns to announce new product launches, promote special offers or discounts, or encourage repeat purchases through personalized recommendations.

5. **Referral**:

 - Referral marketing can be facilitated through email by encouraging existing customers to refer their friends or contacts to the business. Email campaigns can include referral incentives or rewards for both the referrer and the new customer, helping to expand the customer base through word-of-mouth marketing.

Question 5:

Strengths of affiliate marketing for a retailer include its ability to significantly increase reach by leveraging the audience and influence of affiliate partners. This cost-effective strategy operates on a performance-based model, ensuring retailers only pay for actual sales or conversions generated. Additionally, affiliate marketing allows for diverse partnerships with bloggers, influencers, and niche websites, enabling retailers to effectively target specific audience segments. Furthermore, affiliate marketing programs are highly scalable, providing retailers with the flexibility to expand reach or adjust strategies as needed.

However, affiliate marketing also presents weaknesses for retailers. Despite its performance-based nature, commission costs can impact profit margins, particularly if commissions are high. Retailers heavily rely on the effectiveness of affiliate partnerships, and managing multiple partnerships while tracking performance metrics can be complex and time-consuming. Maintaining brand consistency and reputation across various affiliate channels can also be challenging. Moreover, in competitive markets, attracting and retaining high-performing affiliates may prove difficult, especially if competitors offer more attractive commission rates or incentives.
