a) Your understanding about the four selfs

My understanding about the four selfs is I get to know my inner self and my outer self of mine. These four selfs get intact with me much deeper and make me analyze myself who am I and which part am I lacking or else confident off. This unknown self-shows me the barrier which I should be counter back or overcome off. It may also be one of my strongest strengths, maybe. Certainly, a few people may take this as overthinking but in my opinion, this understanding and learning about the four selfs are to embark on and enhance our life journey.

b) How can you use the technique in your professional journey

In my professional journey, this technique will be one of my personal analysis on myself from time to time.

1. As discussed in the session about the Self through the JOHARI window read about the Johari window and then write

a) Your understanding of the four selfs

;- The Johari window is a method created to aid individuals in comprehending their relationships with both themselves and others. It was developed in 1955 by psychologists Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham and is largely used as a heuristic exercise in self-help groups and professional settings. Using a blend of their first names, Luft and Ingham gave their model the name "Johari." This idea is also known as the Johari House with four rooms. The first room represents the face we present to the world. There are elements in Room 2 that we are not aware of but that others can see. The secret area we use but keep hidden from others is room three. The fourth room represents the aspect of us that neither we nor others can perceive.

Open

The portion of our conscious selves that we are aware of and that are known to others includes our attitudes, behaviors, motivations, values, and way of life. Within this space, we have complete freedom. We maintain "open books."

Facade/hidden

This quadrant contains adjectives chosen by the one herself/himself but not by any of their peers. These are facts that the peers either don't know or wouldn't be true if it weren't for the individuals' assertions.

Blind

Here, blind adjectives that were chosen only by the individuals' acquaintances are used. These show what the subject does not see but what other people do.

Unknown

This indicates the individual's actions or motives that no one is aware of, either because they don't apply or because we are all unaware of these characteristics.

b) how can you use the technique in your professional journey

;- People can use the Johari Window concept as a tool to better understand who they are. Additionally, it fosters greater understanding within a group of people. The approach also aids in understanding how others perceive a person. It is founded on the trust built from sharing personal information with others. Additionally, you can learn more about yourself from their criticism. The four different room plays an equal and important role in in-person life. The OPEN area includes the very general things which you yourself and your peers know about. Your name, age, education, hobbies, etc. this space fills up the general criteria during a professional journey which is very much like professional information about a person. The HIDDEN area contains the facts which only you know about yourself, this can be anything like- what things hurt you, embarrassing facts about you, etc. these things are more in the personal area and can be used to avoid the things which may weaken you or in avoiding things which may affect your professional image among others during your professional journey. The BLIND area contains things that others can observe but you can't about yourself. This may help you with letting you know what other feels about you and think about you and things which you do noticeably which might affect another person you interact with and this thing must be taken into account if you step into the professional world, your physical representation is very much important in the professional world. And the last area which is the HIDDEN area, these are the things which no one knows neither you nor your colleagues. Maybe because you haven't discovered those talents or haven't been in a situation where you can use those talents. In the professional setting, you may unleash those hidden talents. Altogether these four areas or rooms would help a person in building up an overall profile for the professional future.

2. Use the Six Thinking Hats to write your six responses for six thinking hats to the statement mentioned below.

“FSSAI makes it mandatory for eateries to keep Calorie information

on the Menu cards”

:- White - Focussing on the facts. Focussing on the health of the youth, children, and aging generation. And how the intake of calories affects each generation tremendously. Mentioning the calorie information on the menu will help people keep their calorie intake checked.

Blue- Ideas. Pitching in the ideas related to how listing the calories will be beneficial. Discussing pros and cons.

Yellow- Benefit. How listing the calories on menu cards will benefit the eateries, government, and the customer or consumers. And will not be affecting the profits.

Green- Throughout the planning of the implementation and procedure, keep advantages and disadvantages in mind. And avoiding any chance of getting backlash or loss.

Black- Judging the plan from different points of view and satisfying the demand of every group without compromising anyone or anything.

Red- keeping the emotions of the public or consumers and the benefits of eateries in the mind is important. The effect of policies of the plan must not affect the eateries' business and consumer emotions and rights. The plan must be beneficiary on all grounds.

Assignment

Ques1)
My understanding about the four selfs

Ans1)
According to my understanding of the Johari Model, it's a great method to understand and enhance communication between the members of the group.

There are four selfs which has been mentioned in the Model

1. Open/self-area or arena
This is primarily where all communications take place, and the larger the arena, the more effective and dynamic the relationship will be. The process of understanding and listening to feedback from another person is known as 'feedback solicitation.' This increases the horizontal open area while decreasing the blind spot. The size of the arena can also be reduced by revealing one's feelings to another person, thereby reducing the hidden and unknown areas.

2. Blind self or blind spot - Information about yourself that others in a group are aware of but you are unaware of. Others may perceive you differently than you expect. By soliciting feedback from others, the blind spot for effective communication is reduced.

3. Hidden area or façade - Information that you know but will keep hidden from others. This could be any personal information that you are hesitant to reveal. This includes emotions, past experiences, fears, and secrets, among other things. We keep some of our feelings and information private because they affect our relationships, so the hidden area must be reduced by moving the information to open areas.

4. Unknown area - Information that you and others are unaware of. This includes information, feelings, abilities, and talents, among other things. This could be due to traumatic past experiences or events that have gone unnoticed for a lifetime. The individual will be unaware until he discovers his hidden qualities and capabilities, or until he observes others. Open communication is also a good way to reduce the unknown and thus communicate effectively.

b) how can you use the technique in your professional journey

Ans)
We are often unaware of how others perceive us, how we present ourselves to others, and even how well we know ourselves. This technique will help me in
understanding more about myself (self-awareness) and in turn helps in self-improvement and improving yourself more effectively. It also encourages communicating and opening up with others resulting in enhanced communication skills. It will work as a great tool for improving my communication and relationships within teams. On an individual level, it will help people understand what others see in them. They might have blind spots, hidden fears or insecurities that they can now address with the use of this great technique. The Johari model can help me in building my understanding around the soft skills such as:

self-awareness
personal development
improving communications
interpersonal relationships
group dynamics
teamwork

Ques2)
Use the Six Thinking Hats write your six responses for six thinking hats to the
statement mentioned below.
“FSSAI makes it mandatory for eateries to keep Calorie information on the Menu cards”

Thinking hats

White Hat: Covers the information we would like to have regarding the eateries like basic information on the menu card which is a foremost and basic thing.
Red Hat: It's giving permission to forward hunches without needing to justify the facts. The basic idea should be fulfilled like the needs of the people without affecting their health.
Yellow Hat: I think it will work and it will be helpful in the savings and provide the benefits, and the advantages. It's a way forward for health conscious people.
Green Hat: With making it mandatory, there shoul l be some newly innovative ideas to keep them a check and keep them on track to provide consumers the right knowledge.
Blue Hat: we can look at the subject like the eateries and not only the fact that they are providing the information but also how it will help us at a bigger level with respect to all aspects of having the calories information on the products.
Black Hat: There can be many reasons why this technique won't work in the long run or may go in the wrong direction like creating problems. Like the calories information may not help in satisfying the health conscious consumers or maybe the information is wrong.

As discussed in the session about the Self through the JOHARI window read about The Johari window and then write
a)	Your understanding about the four selfs
b)	How can you use the technique in your professional journey

As we know there are four selfs. The open self, the blind self, the hidden self and the unknown self. I feel like the self which is known to you is very important, because then, you’ll know about your own self. And according to my own experiences, I feel like the hidden self is very important in your life. All your pasts, your unexpressed emotions and thoughts , activities all come under the unknown self. And these things are unknown to others but you know them very well. And one should accept these things (past mainly) to live a happier life. One should also explore the unknown self . Then you’ll understand yourself even better. You’ll figure out why you react in certain ways and you’ll also know about the talents you had you didn’t know. The blind self which is known to others and not known to you say most things about Your unconscious mind. Things you might not even notice about yourself. But you should ask people about your unconscious habits which they don’t like or get annoyed with. And the open self in the last just says basic things about you. Like your name, origin etc. But again, the way you introduce yourself is very important. So you should work on your open self too.

In Professional life, one should work on all the selves. The open and the hidden self are fine . But the blind and the unknown self, which you don’t know about will impact the most. Getting to know yourself more will only help you in the future. You should have a habit of self liking. If you don’t then you kind of gives others the chance to not like you. Embrace yourself. This will only happen if you know more about yourself even about the things you do unconsciously.
