Immediately after Yasi was over lots of help came to fix all the damage. Many charities came to assist with the damage and locals were very devastated by the destruction of Yasi.

Lots of people donated money to The Red Cross who helped support families get back to their daily lifestyle and for people to help re-start or fix their businesses which started to help Queensland recover by getting back to business. The Red Cross Staff travelled around to the communities affect by Yasi and helped to support them. They helped towns rebuild homes and supported many without homes.

There is also The Salvation Army who helped the people left homeless and without food by giving them shelter and meals. They helped after Yasi by giving out 200,000 meals and refreshments as well as personal hygiene items (like soap and clothing etc.)

How are Cyclones formed?
Cyclones are formed when there is a Low-pressure system over tropical waters (above 27°C). If the weather is just right then the water starts to evaporate and adds to the cloud to make it bigger while releasing energy. As it continues to release heat and energy and as the earth is rotating it creates a cyclone. Cyclone can do lots of damage most include flash flooding, heavy rain and strong winds. The most dangerous part of the cyclone is the eye. Although the eye its self is pretty harmless but it's the harsh conditions that come straight after the eye has passed as the eye wall is the most dangerous part.

Cyclone Yasi affected the community in many ways, some worse than others.
Social:
As Cyclone Yasi came through Queensland it only majorly affected the smaller towns. Over 1,000 people's homes were destroyed with their roofs torn off and doors on their last hinges. Over 10,000 people were affected in one way or an another. Homes were demolished, the power was out and their access to emergency and help centre's where cut off. Any families or people living along the coast were evacuated and relocated. The airports were full as many families were trying to get as far away as possible. Businesses closed down and local hospital patients and nursing homes were relocated. Any others left over had to stay inside and hope that their home will protect them from the storm.

Analysis:
There are 2 Low-pressure systems to the left of the cyclone and a high-pressure system further to the South. There's a cold front going North-East towards Tasmania and one South of Perth. The cyclone is heading South-West towards Queensland.

Causes - Yasi

Yasi formed because all of the weather elements were just right to create a cyclone. It spent a long time travelling across the tropical ocean which allowed it to develop more power as it picked up moisture from the ocean. That's why Yasi was such a huge, powerful and destructive cyclone that it became a category 5.

Economical:
They were expecting the total cost of re-building and medical help, to be around $800 million but as most of the major damage happened in minor towns their price exceeded to around $1,400 million. Many of the minor towns were destroyed by flash flooding and strong winds which left them without power. Over 50,000 people claimed insurance which affected the money that needed to be spent

Environmental:
All rainforests in Queensland were badly damaged with trees and plants all over the place and some cutting power lines and plants being exposed to too much water, which lead to a bad crop season for farmers around the areas. Bananas and sugar cane were the most affected plants. Many trees were stripped and had to recover quickly to continue growing. As Yasi destroyed the forests it also destroyed lots of the habitats for the local animals which would affect them as they would have to relocate and then re-build their home.

As Cyclone Yasi passed over The Great Barrier Reef approximately 13% (from Cains to Townsville) of the reef was exposed to Yasi, causing serious damage. With all the rain flowing through the towns back into the ocean lots of toxic and unhealthy chemicals and rubbish found its way into the ocean which caused major destruction to the reef. Destroying the reef left animals in the area to have to move further North or South and to continue living without all the destruction. Experts believe it will take up to 20 years for the reef to fully recover from Cyclone Yasi.
