“...truth telling with warts and scars exposed.”

This supports my belief that authentic research looks for the flaws and what can go wrong, in addition to the reasons why something is a good idea.

“It was the written result of a writer poised, not just for ideas, but for the consciousness one can bring to that idea.”

I felt this was important because it shows the reader at the center of the process, as or more vital than any source.

“But the writing project is conceived by the writer first noticing something, then, assured of her ability to do so, telling it.”

This is part of her advice to "cultivate the practice of noticing," which I find crucial to the research process.

“I tell them writing is a skill that develops both cognitively and kinesthetically over time.”

This is a cool addition to the idea of project-based writing, that part of it is developing a skill that goes beyond the mind into the whole body working together.
