Their contribution: India has helped shape Canada's food by adding tasty spices and popular dishes, making Indian cuisine a favorite for many Canadians.

They weren't allowed to leave and were treated quite harshly, but the Japanese-Americans tried their best to make it feel like home for them.

Some contributions they made: They contributed with resource industries such as fishing, forestry, mining and farming.

Discrimination: They were shunned and cast aside because of what a small part of them did. Many didn't know what they had done. So, everything about these camps was discrimination.

Contribuition: They made food quality better with their spices and imported many items of value to Canada.

Although the work paid next to nothing, it was something. This was also extremely dangerous work, and many died.

After the railroad had been built, some Chinese left, but many stayed and instead sought different jobs out, such as tree chopping, or starting their own businesses! These are some contributions.

Some discrimination they faced were, for example, being paid very little compared to others.

Contribution: the Japanese mainly contributed in the resource industries such as fishing, forestry, mining, and farming.

Contribution:They brought food to Canada such as salmon, seaweed, shellfish with much more. :)

Contributions :Jobs included clearing the bush, digging wells and working as shepherds in new properties.

Their contribution: India brought many spices and a new religion to Canada and made it a more diverse country which invited many other cultures.

One man decided this was unfair. His name was Baba Gurdit Singh, and he, along with 376 other passengers, boarded the Komagata Maru, a ship, which went to CANADA!

Unfortunately, they weren't allowed onto the Canadian dock, and floated in the ship, on the water, for three months before getting sent away. Only about 24 people were allowed off the boat, and the rest could only go home. None of them made it to Canada.

While on the water, some passengers threw coal and bricks at the officers, and when they got off in India, they were viewed as law-breakers and imprisoned.

Supposedly 26 died from getting shot by the police.

This is our history, our ugly history, and we need to know this so we won't repeat it.

Some contributions they made: They challenged Canada's racist and exclusionary immigration policies.

In the early 1900s, Canada enforced strict immigration policies to limit the arrival of non-European immigrants, particularly those from Asia. The government wanted to maintain a predominantly white population and saw Asian immigration as a threat to this goal.

Contribution:

By 1991 Indian Canadians had created numerous musical communities, differentiated mainly by shared language, regional origin, and religion, through organized bodies that serve to articulate the particular group's identity, creatively defining its nature in the new Canadian context.

Contribuition: They specalised in the resource industry, helping canadians mine and chop wood.

It was very dangerous. Many Chinese men had died during the time of build.

After the CPR was built, some Chinese men decided to stay in Canada but they would have to pay. First it was $50 then it was raised to $100 then $500.

There were a lot of Indians that wanted to go to Canada, but Canadian officials deemed the passengers illegal arrivants based on immigration laws limiting Indian immigration, leading to the ship and its passengers being refused entry and detained for two months in Vancouver Harbour.

Contribution:

Bollywood music and dance have become popular among Canadians, and Indian music festivals are organized across the country. The fusion of Indian and Canadian music has led to unique collaborations.
