For a year after his crimes he would send packages to the media or would simply leave item around Wochita. In January of 2005 the police had recived a break after recovering a ceral box that had a note in it which Rader was asking the police if they would be able to trace a floppy disk. The law officals said it would be okay if Rader had sent the floppy disk to them. The disk was sent then which was then traced back to Raders church where it had been made. But on May 3, the judge had a not guilty plead on Raders behalf. But however to the rescheduled trial date which was on June 27, Rader had changed his plead to guilty. Rader had described the murders in detail and had made no apologies. On Augusta 18 the sentencing had started where victims family's had started to make statement. But from those victims statements, Rader had apologized in a speech of rambling on.
