Cell Membrane VS A Door

The cell membrane or plasma membrane is the outside barrier of a cell. It protects the organelles within a cell and controls what substances come into and out of a cell. I chose a picture of a door because a door relates to a cell membrane on what comes into and out of a cell. This is a good analogy because like a cell membrane, a door can let people you want in your house, like nutrients in a cell, and keep people who are dangerous out, like foreign substances in a cell. This is a bad analogy because people can break into a house by breaking the door or unlocking the door somehow, while a cell membrane is like a wall that only lets specific things needed for the cell.

Nucleus VS Manager of a Factory

The nucleus is a double layered organelle that contains all of the genetic information for the cell. The information of the cell is in the form of chromatin, which is long, thick ropy strands. This controls the forming basis of the activity and growth of the cell. I chose a picture of a manager of a factory because, the manager of a factory directs the people working there, what to do just like nucleus does for the organelles within a cell. This is a good analogy because a manager of a factory tells the workers what needs to be done and made to keep the supply going. This is just like how the materials in a cell are created and used. This is a bad analogy because the manager can sometimes give false information and the manager can't change the work of function their workers.

Lysosomes VS Custidians

The lysosome is an organelle in a cell the contains powerful digestive enzymes. These organelles break down any bacteria or foreign bodies or substances and in rare conditions self destruct and break down the damaged cell to protect the body. I chose a picture of a custodian because they clean up the trash and garbage at different places where they work just like a lysosome does. This is a good analogy because a custodian cleans and tends the place they work at too keep the place germ free and clean just like a lysosome does for a cell. This is a bad analogy because custodians do not self destruct and they don't break down the place they work.

Vacuole VS Refrigerator

The vacuole is an organelle that stores water for the cell. It is encased in a membrane and is used for replenishing the cell when it is dehydrated. The vacuoles are found in all plant cells and can store poison, broken parts of the cell, food, and extra water. I chose a picture of a refrigerator because refrigerators store things you need and can use at a later time just like a vacuole. This is a good analogy because both refrigerators and vacuoles stored food and water if we or the cells of plants gets dehydrated or needs energy. The vacuoles store what the cell might need at a later time. This is a bad analogy because refrigerators don't store poisonous things that could harm the refrigerator. They also don't change shape like a vacuole does to help shape the cell.

Ribosome VS Book Publisher

The ribosomes is the organelle that manufactures proteins for the cell. Without proteins the cell would have a hard time functioning and surviving. I chose a picture of a book publisher because There are a lot of things that need to be done and thought through just like a ribosome makes protein. This is a good analogy because a book publisher has to go through a process like the writing, paper, and binding are like the process a ribosome has to go through to make an excellent book. This is a bad analogy because book publishers can't attach to rough ER and ribosomes don't create stories.

Golgi Apparatus VS Post Office

The golgi apparatus is an organelle that is responsible for packaging the proteins in a cell. The proteins bet packaged into little blobs and sent into the cisternae. I chose a picture of a post office because they package letters or other important things into envelopes just like the golgi body does with proteins. This is a good analogy because like golgi, post offices package letters and important things that they need to deliver. This is a bad analogy because the little blobs in the cytoplasm don't go anywhere, while the post office sends the envelopes everywhere to everyone in the community.
