         <description><![CDATA[<p>Date: December 7, 1914</p><p><br/></p><p>Description: The Attack on Pearl Harbor was on the U.S by Japan that had decided to strike from feeling betrayed by the United States and their decisions of not selling necessary needs such as oil. They felt the United States did not want them to succeed in their actions and went straight into attacking them and killing many soldiers at sea.</p><p><br/></p><p>Outcome: The United States decided to join in the War after the actions done by others killing their own people.</p><p><br/></p><p>Medical: Treatment given was applying tourniquets, along with morphine for horrible pain.</p>]]></description>

They had destroyed Japan's first line career strength with the most experience and best trained for fighting terms.</p><p><br/></p><p>Outcome: America had token victory in the end and had redeemed those that had passed from certain events that couldn't be controlled or stopped.</p><p><br/></p><p>Medicine: Treatment given was penicillin or streptomycin to help with bacterial infections.</p>]]></description>

The Veterans described their harrowing experiences in the “green hell” of the island, where they endured brutal combat, tropical disease, and severe shortages of food and supplies. </p><p><br/></p><p>Outcome:The outcome of the Battle of Guadalcanal was a decisive allied victory.</p><p><br/></p><p>Medical: During the Battle of Guadalcanal, medical treatments focused on treating malaria and managing soldiers trauma during the war and trying to help them and addressing their issues. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Date: October 1944</p><p><br/></p><p>Description: Right after the situation of the U.S. raided the Philippines and had said  how weak Japan’s defenses were, they decided to invade Leyte instead of Mindanao. In response, Japan made a plan called Sho-1, which included using their biggest battleships, Yamato and Musashi<em>,</em> along with planes and ground troops to try and stop the Americans.</p><p><br/></p><p>Outcome: The ending resulted in a victory for the United States that had surpassed the Japanese navy and won the battle.</p><p><br/></p><p>Medical: During the Battle of Leyte Gulf, medical care involved a combination of onboard and off-shore treatment. They would provide IV medications, and doctors that we're able to do surgical procedures for those in need.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Date: April 1 to June 22, 1945</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Description: </strong>On April 1, 1945, over 60,000 U.S. troops landed on Okinawa and faced really tough fighting that lasted almost three months. After a lot of hard battles, they finally took Shuri Castle on May 29 and had been able to capture the Naha airfield in early June.</p><p><br/></p><p>Outcome: The United States had won the Battle of Okinawa after heavy fighting, but it showed that invading Japan would be extremely deadly.</p><p><br/></p><p>Medicine: Combat medics used limited supplies to treat the wounded before sending them to field hospitals or ships for further care.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Date: January 22–June 5, 1944</p><p><br/></p><p>Description: After successes in North Africa and Sicily, the Allies landed in southern Italy in September 1943, facing strong German resistance. Despite capturing key ports and Naples, progress was slow due to tough terrain and German defenses. By late 1943, the Allies were stalled at the German Gustav Line.</p><p><br/></p><p>Outcome: The outcome of the Italian Campaign and fought the  fight for the Allies, but they eventually broke through the German defenses. After months of fierce combat, the Allies captured Rome in June 1944 and continued advancing north.</p><p><br/></p><p>Medical: Hospitals were filled to the top with many people needed to be seen. Many had been shot and had uncontrollable bleeding that was miserable for many to be in.</p>]]></description>

Then led by Colonel Charles T. Lanham, a tough and experienced officer, the regiment had high morale and would later earn a Distinguished Unit Citation.</p><p><br/></p><p>Outcome: The Battle of Hürtgen Forest was a tough and costly fight for the U.S. Army, with heavy casualties on both sides. The Allies eventually forced the Germans to retreat, but the battle slowed the advance into Germany.</p><p><br/></p><p>Medical: On the battlefield used techniques like blood and plasma transfusions, and limited antibiotics that we're available to be given.</p>]]></description>
