People have found out that eating things with silica in them can help lower the amount of aluminum that is inside your system. This the chance of having toxic chemicals in your body.
https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/detox-aluminum-toxicity/
Strengths:It reduces the amount of aluminum in our body and could make us healthier and keep us farther away from getting diseases like altimeriz.

Weakness: How can we get it to help out the environment and the aquatic life so it may not help biodiversity or economic services.

http://www.chemistry.wustl.edu/~edudev/LabTutorials/Water/PublicWaterSupply/PublicWaterSupply.html
In this article it talks a lot about the chemicals in the water and shows how people already treat it in 4 different ways.So in the article it say that first they screen the water by having where the water comes out screened with a type of mesh so that when the fish pass through the holes are big enough for them but keep out the big debris. They then if any of the smaller particles get through they just let the water do it's work and let it go through the process of sedimentation. Then they let precipitation come down and reacts with the ions to create the ions that can be taken care of by the process of sedimentation. People also soften the water with soda ash, and lime so that the chemicals are dissovelable .

Strengths: This would be good because it stops all of the big debris from messing with the water and can break down all the tiny particles that get through

Weakness:This strategy doesn't really take care of the smaller things like a tiny plastic piece might get through and a fish could swallow it and die or it could begin to pollute the water.

An environmental technology company started a project to produce a big water treatment plant. They are going to use higher grade copper and get the water clean enough to go out into the environment so that they can have water in the environments that is clean however right now they are doing it (i think) only in china.
https://www.wwdmag.com/wastewater/heavy-metal-solution

strengths: The strengths with this process is that it cleans the water and gets it back into the environment.
Weakness:They might not be able to do this everywhere because it cost a lot of money like 2.7 million dollars to run one so they might not be able to make them everywhere

People want to take out the availability of the heavy metals as soon as they are seen or known to exist. So they want to "stabilize" the heavy metals as soon as they come to sight.
https://cfpub.epa.gov/ncer_abstracts/index.cfm/fuseaction/display.files/fileID/14295

Strengths: It would cut down on the amount of heavy metals because before they can mess with the environment they are eliminated

Weakness: It may not be fully covered because some heavy metal can escape and what about the stuff that already exist.

Build walls in the rivers with little holes in them so that the big pieces of metal don't end up in the water. Then once a week or so people can come and clean it so that the water isn't that affected by the metal, however there is the problem of what about the pre-polluted water and we plan to fix that by having filtration in the pipes so that the water is clean when it comes out the other side
