Below the age of 64, 67 percent of  people want to legalize marijuana. 53 percent of 65 and above wants to keep marijuana illegal to use.

The increasing use of medical marijuana is becoming more acceptable. In this society It helps with arthritis and helps mitigate side effects of chemotherapy 

3. What might the health risks be of using marijuana? 
Law enforcement's and substance abuse professionals have stated that using marijuana can give you  increased heart rate, and respiratory problems. Why would the author compare the legalization of marijuana and the support for gay marriage? 
The author showed this to just give another example of the growing society. How 14 states have already legalized gay marriage as it will for marijuana in years to come. And how people opposed the idea of using marijuana in the past years but time is changing and more people are supporting it.

2. How can marijuana help with different health problems?
Marijuana can help with arthritis and and the side effects of chemotherapy. It can also help with diseases that affect the immune system, multiple sclerosis, inflammation, pain, seizures and mental disabilities. Marijuana helps with a lot more pain related symptoms and just feeling better.
 
3. How might of the legalization of marijuana in Washington and Colorado help change some peoples minds about the topic?
By them making the first step in legalizing marijuana they were showing how society is growing. That even if there are negative effects there are plenty of pros related to the subject.They want to show how it helps a lot of people and they are trying to open others eyes about marijuana.

The prohibition caused a sharp increase in the amount of people who drank alcohol, which caused a rift throughout American politics. People, after it being prohibited decided to try it for themselves instead of taking politicians at their word. Soon after this initial burst of people, alcohol consumption in America skyrocketed. The actions the American people took caused the government to realize they made a mistake and they decriminalized alcohol. The American people in the 1930’s, similar to the current American people realized that they had something taken from them that they didn’t want, or need taken from them. Marijuana, unlike alcohol, has genuine medical, and societal benefit that comes from its growth and/or consumption, and it shares the economic value that came from legalizing alcohol. Marijuana affords people to be comfortable when faced with life’s most unfortunate circumstances. When it comes to chronic pain, genetic diseases, cancer, it gives people a non-addictive form of treatment that can help people manage that which was previously unmanageable.
