I would prefer using both authentic and coursebook materials and tasks for listenings.Since we are supposed to use the book prepared by MEB  and follow a curriculum , it is a “must” for me.And also I believe that the coursebooks are prepared according to some certain criteria that would address many of the students at this level and age so then why to put away every effort given during the preparation.I can not say I am a real authority as a unique teacher but the books are supposed to be prepared by a group of experienced teachers to be useful when adopted wisely.On the other hand , we can not say that these books address every student in the class and have everything in them.There are different levels and profiles in a real classroom atmosphere .There are also different students with different skills and needs ,too.We can not ignore them thinking that there is a general profile .We should address all the students in the class.And prepare something for them,too.Furthermore,it is very easy to distract students and very hard to take students attention to the lessons nowadays.We should include different and interesting and trendy materials observing our students interests and levels.We should try to make the students expose the target language using as many as different ways and materials we can.The more pleased and included students are , the more productive and more enjoyable lessons will be.
2.I like using a variety of activities for all skills in my classes.I always follow it as a motto :
“English teacher is an activity maker and seller.”
So I always use different activities and search for newer and better .Many of the ideas written during the class were not so hot and different for me.I was already using many of them but the most important points were about active listening and giving clear instructions.I would be more careful about them and try to make the activities more often by simplifying and challenging.I can say that I am a lucky teacher that I can use different kinds of activities in my classes with my students who are mostly eager to try and do something.To sum up ,many activities would be appropriate if you adapt them according to my students but what is important is to make them be more active and eager as a whole by giving clearer instructions.]]> 2022-10-19 20:24:24 UTC https://padlet.com/elifsoydemir/4jpemr6tj9wxj0k5/wish/2347782588 Speaking 🗣💬 elifsoydemir https://padlet.com/elifsoydemir/4jpemr6tj9wxj0k5/wish/2349071294 1.During the speaking classes , there are always some certain students eager to speak and some unwilling to do sth with the activities . Considering this problem ,I can say that our main problem is not to include all the students for our speaking activities.This is because of the different backgrounds of information the students got in their primary and secondary schools.Some are from English based schools or private schools who had many hours of English while some others come from a rural are school who have just a few hours of English.
2.The ideas and activities we have learned today will be absolutely helpful for our speaking classes.We can use more group activities and role plays in the classes.I also like the first “Find 5 people in the class sharing common interests and last activity “onion ring “ enjoyable to use in English classes.Moreover , I liked the digital activities a lot especially “Flipgrid” will be really easy and useful for shy students in the classes.
I would also discover the other digital activities “Chatterbox,Voki and Animoto “ first and then decide to use the suitable one.I can say that I am really pleased with the whole day experiencing these different kinds of activities and having new ideas.

-Show a postcard in an envelope and ask the students questions about it.
“What is it ? Do you send postcard?
If you were writing a postcard , what would you include ? (There should be a full real postcard)
Show it and ask them to analyze it.
Then you write the answers on the boards.
Ask the students what to use instead of postcard today.
While reading
Gist :
Ask students to check the similarities between a postcard and e-mail and find them in the related text.
Check the information on the board and put the ticks with the students.
Add additional information from the text while comparing the main parts of the postcard and e-mail.
Detailed Reading :
Make the students work in pairs and give each group prepare a different task.
GROUP 1 :Read the text carefully and prepare 7 true /false questions.
GROUP 2 :Read the text carefully and prepare 7 Comprehension questions.
GROUP 3 : Read the text carefully and ask 7 new words feom the text.
GROUP 4 :Read the text carefully and write 7 fiil   in the blanks sentences from the text.(Group numbers and repeted task can be adapted according to class number)
-With a different group every student will ask and answer the questions.
-Choose a few example from the students questions and ask and answer with class.
Post Reading :
Imagining you are a student at a university write an e-mail to your friend telling about your plans.Use the e-mail on the book and make some changes.Send the e-mail to the teacher.
2.Thinking about one of the main problem of reading I can say that making the students read something is really difficult.Many students do not want to read or find it difficult to read and answer the questions boring.To be honest , many of the activities in a coursebook do not attract students a lot.So what can be done in this situation ? This is a challenging question for  a teacher to be answered.In today’s sessions I had a lot of interesting ideas to make a reading passage more attractive.For example ,the teacher in the video was really good example of a teaching reading .She used many stages and different techniques for readings.Also there are other things to differentiate the activities and the most important was pairing and grouping students for detailed reading.If we can turn a reading activitiy to an enjoyable event I hope it would be more interesting and charming.There are a lot of ways of making reading useful by following the stages and being aware of the different kinds of reading.That is the teacher who can make a reading better by using photos, sounds ,videos ,vocabulary games ,etc.
