I found this prompt the hardest one yet. I'm curious about why. Language is difficult. I think that perhaps I don't have the correct words to label how I want to encourage students to believe in themselves and their math abilities.

I teach many of the same students from one semester to the next. How do I continue friendly relationships with the ones I already know without making the new students feel less valued or think that I have favorites?

A student whose percentage is low, say below 40%-50%, asked their chance of passing when the semester is more than half way gone, I struggle to provide a good answer. (an objective answer but not hurting their feelings)
