O ME! O LIFE!

There were some unfamiliar.

'of myself forever REPROACHING myself'

reproaching - to express disappointment or resentment in someone

'of the PLODDING and the SORDID crowds i see around me'

plodding - slow moving or boring

sordid - involving morally distasteful things

WHAT IS THE BIG MEANING OF THE POEM?

i think that the big meaning is that amidst all the cynicism and hate in the world it is a blessing to simply exist and to be alive

The Paradox

a paradox is a state or instance where two extremely opposite scenarios which cannot coexist do.

for example: a paradox can be when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.

it sums up what the poet is trying to say because the girl just can't seem to be where she needs or wants to be, when she is in one place she longs for another and when she is in that place she longs to return to her previous state.

i have felt that way before, many times before. and i think its part of human nature to want want you don't have or can't have. and we only miss something when we no longer have it. in the case of the story she wants the road when she's home, but she misses home when she's on the road.

FOR BOTH PIECES

the two are similar because they both play on things about life, about the struggles and unchanging shortages of life. where we are never where we want to be, and where we feel the world doesn't want us. the two pieces however are different because one take a more optimistic approach while on takes a darker approach on interpreting these problems.

i would say poetry is a way to interpret what we otherwise cannot using conventional sentences, and the constriction of the english language. although we speak the same tongues in poetry, it speaks an entirely different meaning. and based on the two poems, poetry dwells on the deeper aspects of life and beyond
