When these things occur, the community is not trustworthy, unwilling to work with each other in its pursuit to success. Thus leading to the downfall and decay of a community.

Hana
- As a breach of trust there will lead to hating each other and people will not want to help other people.
- There is no justice and fairness in society.

Adibah - Hating one other will have a negative impact on others and will bring the country's name down, and as a result, they will not respect us.

Athirah - If a leader accepts a bribe and sets a poor example for the people, the people will not follow the leader's commands.

What is your view of contemporary Fiqh?

Athirah - contemporary means change over time, so contemporary fiqh is the knowledge that changes over time.

What are the Maqasid al-Shariah examples in your understanding of the current world?

Traditional classifications of Maqasid Shariah are divided into three according to the ‘levels of necessity’, these three categories are:

Daruriyyat (Necessities)

Necessity is an essential element for human beings. The absence of these elements may cause harm and damage to human life. Examples of necessities such as shelter, food, and clothes.

The necessities are further classified by the scholars into five elements of preservations. The objective of Islamic rulings is mainly to protect these five elements from any harm. These preservations are known as:

5 Maqasid al-Shariah

1. Deen (protection of religion)

For instance, one way to protect religion is to preach to people so that they can open their minds to Islam.

Defending our religion (Islam) by enemies' attack)

Encouraging parents to enroll their children in religious schools at an early age so that they might grow up to be successful compassionate people.

2. Nafs (protection of life)

It is critical to preserve one's life by staying away from banned items and actions that can be hazardous, such as alcohol and narcotics.

3. Aqal (protection of intelligence)

Because mental health is so crucial for living a happier life, we must avoid alcohol because it can injure the brain.

Avoid stressing out to the point where we want to hurt ourselves.

build schools and universities and provide education for human beings.

4. Nasab (protection of lineage)

Prevalence in homosexuality over the years, common in the West.

5. Mal (protection of property)

fulfill an Islamic responsibility, such as paying zakat

distribution of wealth in fairly manner through Zakat

Hajiyyat (Needs)

Needs are less essential for human life compared to daruriyyat. These are requirements for human beings to live without facing difficulties. However, the lack of any of these needs is not a matter of life and death, especially on an individual basis.

Examples of needs are marriage, communication tools, healthy food, and means of transportation. Islam encourages and regulates these needs

Tahsiniyyat (Luxuries)

Luxuries are complementary and desirable factors that give perfection and add value to human life. Islam encourages us to achieve these purposes and to have a better life. Nevertheless, Islam teaches us to pursue these goals in the correct manner. Examples of luxuries are branded outfits, luxury cars, bungalows, etc.

In how many ways can you integrate the best of dunya and the best of akhirah in your daily activities?

Harris - In my personal opinion, the only way to integrate both dunya and akhirah in your activities is by remembering Allah. It is important to understand that this physical world is temporary and a gift from Allah. What we need to do as His servants is to make use of our time in this world in accordance to His liking. While I mentioned there is only one way to integrate the two forms in activities, there are many activities/actions you can do to please Allah. Actions like donating, helping, respecting are both valuable in this world and the hereafter.

Hana - Personally, I believe that preserving our salah is the best way for me to integrate the best of Dunya and akhirah into my daily activities. It requires not only performing the mandatory prayers but also attempting to perform the 'sunnah' prayers such as tahajjud, dhuha, taubah, and others with diligence. The rationale for my thought is that I believe that if we perform salah, Allah would not only reward us in the hereafter but also make all of my daily tasks easier and more convenient.

”Allah will build a house in Jannah for whoever is diligent in observing 12 Sunnah rakat (as follows: 2 before Fajr, 4 rakat before and 2 after Dhur, 2 after the Maghrib, and 2 after Ishaa).” (Tirmidhi)
