3rd Grade: Check the Unit 1 benchmark tests as a couple of the questions with illustrations are blurry or not easy to see.

Shouldn't the common assessment drive our instruction (backward design)?

Second grade want to read aloud the tests to kids and have students write in test booklets.

What about those students with accommodations?

Why can't we see the common assessment before we teach the unit?

Assessments do not adhere to the STATE standards. Don't have a problem exposing students to higher level content but they should only be assessed on STATE standards

Since assessments don't "stick to the standards" teachers have to also administer their own test which now requires TWO days for assessing (don't have extra days)

I realize that this issue is very specific to a limited number of classrooms, TRIAD and EBD self contained, but it can impact gen ed teachers. Because of the large number of grade levels they must teach at once, the teacher cannot reasonably expose and definitely not expect all students to master, all of the grade level science standards in line with each grade level curriculum map. If the students are required to take benchmark tests along with their typical peers, they will be certain to fail. The students are required to receive 30 minutes of social skills instruction each day and most receive 3-4 days of 30 minute speech instruction as well. There is just not enough time in the day for the teacher to keep the science timeline.

Will these students' scores negatively impact gen ed teachers if gen ed teachers are their teachers of record?

Too many assessments that are required and taking away from instructional time. We lose one day of instruction for every required assessment. Having 8 science units means we lose 8 more days of instruction. This is happening across the curriculum. Taking the required tests in the computer lab means instructional time is also lost in the computer lab. Has anyone sat down and added all of the time taken out of instruction to complete required assessments by all of the county coordinators.

Questions that ARE NOT covered under the standard. Frustrating for teachers who teach to the standards. Unfair for students who have no idea what is the correct answer.
