I believe that teaching is learning. Teaching is advocating, listening, being a friend, and most importantly being an educator. Educating students about life, not just math and language arts.

I think that schooling provides students the opportunity to be able to fit into society. I think that school helps students find their interests and passions. I knew I wanted to be a Special Education teacher the moment I stepped into a life skills classroom at 15 years old. School helped me discover my passion and I believe that It has the ability to do that for other students and young emerging adults. Statistically speaking, students retain 90% of the information that they teach to someone else. Just reading and listening to lectures given by the teacher don't help students learn. It is important to know your students and know their families in a way that you can speak up for students when they are unable to speak up for themselves.
