Emmett Till – Who was he and why did he get killed 
Emmett Till was a 14-year-old African American boy who lived in the 1950’s in Chicago. Emmet was a completely normal teenager who was killed because of flirting with old white women. 
 
Funeral and reaction to his death 
Although lynchings and racially motivated murders had happened throughout the south for decades this time was different. The brutal death of Emmet Till had a powerful impact on Mississippi civil rights activist. This also sparked a spirit in a lot of African Americans to not just accept this kind of treatment. It started a movement to make black people stand up from these racist encounters. For an example just 100 days after Emmett Till’s death we see Rosa Parks who refused to give her seat to a white passenger. 
 
The 14-year-old boy was forced to carry a 75-pound cotton gin fan to the bank and then getting nearly beaten to death follow by his eyes getting gouged. The 2 men shot him in the head and strapped him to the cotton gin fan with barbed wire. Afterwards he was thrown into the river.

We believe that there isn’t enough attention pointed at the deaths of innocent black people caused by police officers and that too many police officers get away with murder quickly. We assume that a lot of the guilt is pointed at the government, as you can become a police officer in just teen weeks in the US, were compared to Denmark, it takes about 122 weeks. 
We are also talking about the Ferguson Riots in this presentation and how they are connected to the death of these two teens, along with what changes it did to the society.

The La riots was a series of riots in the Los angles area from April 29 – May 4, 1992 that was caused by the beating of an African American man. The man was named Rodney king, Rodney king was beaten by four LAPD officers, during his arrest, after a high-speed chase. For driving while intoxicated on the freeway. The people where rioting in honor of Rodney king, the wanted justice because three of the four police officers was released without charges. In addition, the fourth was charged mildly. We may all know the hashtag #Blacklivesmatter. When the movement first began it was used on social media back in July 2013, after a criminal prosecution of George Zimmerman, who killed a 17-year-old African American teen; Trayvon Martin. The hashtag started because of many black innocents' deaths, and the police brutality against black people in the United States. 
 
If you didn’t know about the hashtag back in 2013, you might have heard about it in 2020 when the afro American man George Floyd was killed by police officers. The hashtag has been used more than 27,4 million times on Instagram. The Danish Instagram account blacklivesmatterdenmark, has 19,5 thousand followers. 
 
When George Floyd died, about 26 million participated in the demonstration against the police brutality. 
 
Black Lives Matter hasn’t been put to an end; it's still very frequently used when racism occurs in different countries around the world. occurs.

It was found by the two African American students Huey P and Bobby Seale. Thay had a mission to make freedom by any means necessary. This organization was one of the most influential militant Black Power organization. The Black Panther Party had many people that was support the organization. And one group of people that support them were the young African American. These young people had the same mission. They want and need freedom. The Black Panther Party were a big Revolutionary organization, they had an Ideology of Black nationalism, socialism, and armed self-defences, particularly against police brutality. The Black Panther Party dissolved in 1982, but their values have been passed on to the Black Lives Matter organization which was founded in 2020. The first slaves worked in the British colony Jamestown in Virginia, North America. He was the president during The Civil War  from 1861 to 1865. He was born 12th february 109 in Kentucky, and he was killed 15th april 1865. 

The Civil war started in 1861 and ended in 1865. It startet after decades of tension between the northern and southern states over the rights of slaves. Following the election of Abraham Lincoln, several southern states broke away from the Union and formed the Confederacy which is the south. 

In the months before the Civil War, Lincoln stated that he would not support slavery in existing states. He was successful in persuading the Border States to remain in the Union.
