Melania is an unaffiliated Magical Girl who often works jobs for the organization she believes to be holding her sister known as “The Family”. Her sister actually left of her own accord, and Mel knows that, but she feels it’s her duty to be a good big sister and bring her home.

Melania was inducted into the government’s MAGI program along with her eight-year-old sister at the age of ten by her mother, who was offered several thousands of dollars to allow the use of her children for the program. Her mother agreed, happy to have the girls out of her hair. Melania was tested for her aptitude to use and advanced technology codenamed “magic,” nanotechnology controlled by the human mind. Dozens of other children--male and female were inducted into the program and were tested, physically augmented and combat trained until they were in their mid teens.Some inductees made it farther than others, and most of the more successful mages were female, though there were a few notably skilled male mages.

However, the program would end up being mostly in vain as the project was cancelled due to lack of government funding (thanks to a shift in administration) leaving hundred upon hundreds of Mages without purpose. Some were able to successfully reintegrate into society, becoming soldiers, police officers, civil servants, etc. However, most had a more difficult time doing so, finding their place on the streets and in crime syndicates.

Melania uses her mind to manipulate nanites at an extremely high level; she was considered #3 in terms of ability among 987 candidates. She can manipulate her nanites into anything within mass limits (she has limited nanites). Her nanites take the form of rose petals, purely for aesthetic reasons.

She is trained in close quarters combat, and with a myriad of ranged weapons.

She has a limited but effective regenerative ability, thanks to her nanites. This is a trait shared by most Mages.
