Nakhimov Square is located on the seashore. This is the center of the city, the place where the construction of Sevastopol began. Now all city holidays are held on it.

In the center of the square there is a monument to Admiral Nakhimov, the hero of the Crimean War of 1853-1856. The main battles of the Crimean War took place near the walls of Sevastopol, and most of the sights of the city center are associated with these events.

A granite stele with a cannonball is also installed on the square - a monument in honor of the 200th anniversary of the city. It was opened in 1983. Another monument is dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War - a large concrete bas-relief depicting a warrior, slabs with the names of heroes and the Eternal Flame.

Vladimirsky Cathedral

Vladimirsky Cathedral on the Central City Hill is a naval church where the great Russian admirals Kornilov, Istomin, Nakhimov and Lazarev are buried. There is another Vladimir Cathedral in Sevastopol, in the Tauric Chersonesos. In order not to confuse them, the cathedral on the city hill is called the tomb of admirals or the admiral's temple.

Like many buildings in the center of Sevastopol, the cathedral was built from Inkerman limestone. I really like this material: thanks to it, the city is white and smart.

The historic boulevard

The historic boulevard is located on a hill that rises from Ushakov Square. One of the defensive bastions stood at this height in 1854-1855.

The main attraction of the Historical Boulevard is the panoramic museum "Defense of Sevastopol". It is a round building with a dome. Along its perimeter, there are installations that tell about the defense of Sevastopol in 1854-1855. They look at the panorama together with the guide: he leads the group in a circle and tells the story of the battles. Installations look like paintings with augmented reality: for example, real carts, stones, and other artifacts. Thanks to them, there is a feeling of immersion.

Beaches.

Beaches. There are several beaches in Sevastopol: in Sandy Bay, in Victory Park, in Omega Bay. I don't like these beaches: there are a lot of people in Victory Park, and in the bays the water stagnates and smells unpleasant. In the heat, the beaches in the bays are often quarantined.

People also swim in the city center: in Artbukhta and at Cape Khrustalny. It's even worse there: concrete, mud, cigarette butts, pleasure and cruise boats go right there.

On the North side there are Uchkuevka and Lyubimovka beaches. There the water is cleaner, on Uchkuevka there is a sandy shore, on Lyubimovka there is sand mixed with small pebbles and shell rock.
