I would pick this book because it is simple and has frequent sight words. During the story, I would stop and ask him to recount the first few pages and make a prediction of what will happen next. 

After the story I would ask him to tell me what happened in the story in sequence (beginning, middle, end).

I would continue to ask more questions such as what was your favourite part?
