         <description><![CDATA[<p>Smallpox epidemic.</p><p><br></p><p>Smallpox has been one of the deadliest viruses ever known to man. Even though it has now been eradicated there is still debate over how it broke out in the Sydney area in April 1789</p><p><br></p><p>The colonists had developed some resistance from some earlier exposure to the virus. This still was Avery serious matter because of how deadly the virus is.</p><p><br></p><p>The aborigines were very affected by this because they had no exposure whatsoever  and the amount of damage caused to them was absolutely devastating.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>A British man named Matthew Flinders became the first person to circumnavigate Australia in 1803.</p><p><br></p><p>Flinders produced the first map that similarly represents Australia as we know it today.</p><p><br></p><p>Flinders also proved that Australia is a single continent.</p><p>He used the word Australia very often allowing it to come into common usage.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On the 7th of November 1861, approximately 3500 to 4500 people gathered at Flemington Racecourse to watch a race that would become Australian history. 17 horses competed in the race, and the winner was a horse from Sydney named Archer. Archer won by an amazing 6 lengths.</p>]]></description>

This led to many people following him wherever he went. </p><p><br/></p><p>This meant that it was easy to assasinate him which lead to him being shot and wounded by Henry James O’Harrel.</p>]]></description>

This led to them making the 10 pound pom program, which you pay 10 pounds to travel to “Britain in the Sun”. Around 1 million people went to Australia because they wanted a holiday in the Sun. 250 thousand people went back but half went back. The war lasted a long time and eventually Germany surrendered. Japan however, didn’t. This led to being bombed by nukes. Japan finally gave up after that and announced surrender on the 15th of august. They signed a contract of surrender on the 2nd of September 1945</p>]]></description>

This was a law that allowed the aboriginal people, who for almost 200 years, can finally claim their land back.
