Participatory music is truly unique in that it can happen almost anywhere. Such examples range from singalongs at concerts to karaokes at the barsIt can start with a simple tapping of the foot, with someone adding clapping, and another adding singing but the main thing is having everyone involved in the music process. This concept of music is often used as a way of stress relief as well as a way to express cultures. Although participatory involves both audience and performers, on the contrary, presentational focuses on the efforts of the performer only. Performers often put in time to make sure the music put out portrays the thoughts/ideals that they want. For me, music is the best way to relieve stress and with all what is going on in the world, music is somewhat an essential for me. I did play the clarinet and involved in concert band during my high school days and like presentational music very much in that. I appreciate how each piece that I played when listened to by the audience was listened to all the way through and interpreted differently. With presentational music being so serious all the time, I often times find myself involved in participatory music quite as much. This could ranging from me singing to myself in the mirrors in the morning to going to my friends apartment and singing at the karaoke nights. Honestly to me, this form of music is needed for the music race.
