I found it very interesting and wowing that Rachel Carson had such a huge impact on the environmental movement. It's crazy to think that she figured out the bacteria in the water. As well as fought for communities and the chemical plants causing it. It was also crazy that Ruth Patrick lived so long and never stopped researching. It shows how passionate she was for her work. Apgar is such a hard worker and it shows by how passionate she was. She was a perfectionist and always knew there was more to learn especially through complications. It's a great story to learn about in the classroom for young girls. It was also really neat that the study of babies health after they were born was named after her, the APGAR. Since she created it she gets credit for it and was recognized for her work.

I found Virginia Apgar's life very interesting and respected her for her endless motivation and consistency. Apgar was unstoppable from her involvement with sports teams to medicine. I love when I hear of women succeeding in multiple field and I felt like she displayed a perfect example. Her compassionate is visible in her work and in he identity to her community. It was a great story to reflect on Apgar's life, and her involvement in medicine. As a young medical student during her residency I enjoyed her took responsibility for her patient. I personally feel like doctors who feel reliable for you could be hard to come by.
I was wow'ed when I understood Ruth Patrick's involvement in environmental research with understand healthy and toxic ecosystems. When thinking of her research in my own perspective I can gain knowledge from detail visible or through water samples to better understand pollution.

Something interesting that wowed me is how dedicated Ruth Patrick was to her study. She never stopped working and researching and did everything she could well into her elderly years. I also loved that she was studying pollution because this is still an overbearing issue on our planet. I was also wowed by her communication to bigger industries about how they are responsible for the environment and they should act accordingly. This also connects with the communication that Rachel Carson made to make government officials aware of the harmful chemicals that were being used on the environment. I applaud their efforts to communicate but I only hope that their impact was felt more in the present day. I need more clarification on why the scale was so small for the scoring system of newborns. The scale only ranged from 0 to 2 so I don’t get how physicians would get an accurate collection of data if there really isn’t a big range. I think even adding a score of up to 3 would make differences in the purpose that the scale served.
