I'll be walking you through some essential safety precautions and measures in my house that especially catering to the needs of elderly family members.</p><p><br></p><p>KITCHEN</p><ol><li><p>must label each appliance with clear, large-font instructions.</p></li><li><p>Ensure water dispenser is strategically placed at a comfortable height, making it easily accessible for everyone. Must affixed a label indicating the hot and cold water options, reducing any confusion, particularly for older adults who may have difficulty remembering.</p></li><li><p>Label each appliance with clear instructions. This helps everyone, including Mom, easily find and use them</p></li><li><p>Must organized kitchen with modern appliances neatly arranged on the countertops. A placard with large, bold letters reading "SAFETY FIRST" hangs prominently on the wall</p></li><li><p>Use water dispenser only. No old type of water boiler to reduce accidents</p></li><li><p>Use only electrical kitchen appliances. </p></li><li><p>Placed all commonly use ingredients and glass, dishes and utensil at comfortable height easily reach by elderly family members.</p></li><li><p>Label each cabinets so as to make it easy for elderly family members to locate for items.</p></li><li><p>All lighting must be bright enough, use 36 Watt light bulks</p><p><br></p></li></ol><p><br></p><p>TOILET</p><ol><li><p>The non-slip mat prevents accidents on wet surfaces, ensuring everyone's safety especially for the elderly family members.</p></li><li><p>Set the water heater to a safe temperature to avoid scalding. It's crucial, especially for older adults with sensitive skin.</p></li><li><p>All toiletries are within easy reach, eliminating the need for stretching or bending, reducing the risk of falls.</p></li><li><p>Install grab bars near the toilet and in the shower. These provide stability and support, especially for Elderly family members</p></li><li><p>Use sliding door </p></li><li><p>Install handrails in the bathroom for added safety and support.</p></li><li><p>Install the second handrail near the shower area. This will provide additional stability when entering and exiting the shower. The handrails should be installed at a height and angle that's comfortable for Elderly family members to grip.</p></li><li><p>All lighting must be bright enough, use 36 Watt light bulks</p></li></ol><p><br></p><p>BEDROOM</p><ol><li><p>The bedroom must be cozy and well-appointed, with soft lighting and comfortable furnishings.</p></li><li><p>Ensured that there's adequate lighting, especially during the night. Nightlights strategically placed along the path to the bathroom help prevent trips and falls.</p></li><li><p>Keeping the floor clear of clutter reduces the risk of tripping. We've also secured any loose rugs to prevent them from slipping.</p></li><li><p>If there are sick elderly family members, we must install a bedrail on the side of the bed. This prevents overcrowding and allows for easy movement, especially for Elderly family members.</p></li><li><p>All lighting must be bright enough, use 36 Watt light bulks</p></li><li><p>Ensure good air ventilation for healthy fresh air all the times.</p></li></ol><p><br></p><p>STUDY ROOM</p><ol><li><p>Ensured there's ample space between chairs and around the table.
