This research took the interpretivist approach collecting qualitative data through the use of semi structured interviews. This approach was taken as qualitative data and is particularly useful for researching individuals' perception and the reasoning behind them.

One strength of semi structured interviews is that the results can be highly valid, this is because they are open responses given in rich detail to the interview can reveal in more depth reasoning behind their responses.

One weakness of semi structured interviews is that they are not very reliable and therefore not necessarily generalizable to the entire population. This is because the responses given are opinions and therefore harder to analyse because the data collected is qualitative.

If this research were to take a positivist approach it would then gather more quantitative data, quantitative data is more reliable and representative than qualitative data, however it fails to identify a cause and effect relationship and therefore can only make assumptions.

A strength of the semi structured interview is that you can freely ask questions are you are not stuck to a interview schedule but you still have base questions to come back to if the interview goes quiet. A weakness is that you may find out irrelevant information that doesn't help with the research you are carrying out, possibly making it a waste of time.
