Everything could have gone wrong. The editorial called "Ship of Fools" states that Abby was knocked out for a few seconds. If she got hit harder she could have been unconscious for a longer time something bad could've happen.  Her boat had been tipped over by a rouge wave. If the rescue team didn't get there in time she could have died. Now many people think that her parent s are irresponsible for letting her go.  All of this was caused by Abby being jealous and wanting to break her brother's record.  According to Ship of Fools , it mentions how you should invoke maturity where your child lacks it. Though Abby was well prepared and had experience she was not attentive enough to the weather, the time of year, if the boat was suitable and if the part of the world she was at had the correct conditions because in this specific event she did cause people trouble not just her family but to her rescuers, many risked her life so she would not have to be in danger, so that she could not be in risk although she said she was fine it did conclude in major news all over the world about in which got professionals included and they soon stated in many ways that she was lucky to be alive for example on ' Parents of rescued teenage sailor Abby Sunderland accused of risking her life' towards the end of news article a professional states that with the time of year, the season and the boat she was in she was really lucky. As well in the editorial it states the opinion of an own mother in which she continues on saying how she would never let her daughter do that and that Abby's parents were putting her at risk. As stated in the "Ship of Fools", I do agree to the fact that her having a sailboat in waves that are twenty - thirty feet tall is a bit foolish of her parents.
Although Abby may have flipped her boat, and the possibility of harm was high, I believe that if she wants to try again she is able to try again, followers or not.

Even though the article says that she is an experienced sailor i don't think she should be able to sail around the world at sixteen. Also the brother was also too young for the risk of sailing around the world because he was only seventeen. Even though it was her dream i don't think she was ready to sail around the world by herself. Abby got lucky that she didn't die in the Indian ocean.
