On my first day at Wong & Co PLT, I was given a brief introduction to the workplace environment to help me settle in. My senior then provided an overview of the tasks I would be involved in during my time there, which included taxation work specifically handling Forms E, BE, and B&P as well as accounting tasks. After the initial briefing, I was given a sample set of accounts to work on, which served as my first hands-on task to help me get familiar with the procedures. Following lunch, my senior introduced me to QuickBooks, the accounting software used in the firm. I was taught how to enter various types of transactions such as sales, purchases, and expenses into the system. I also learned how to handle journal entries related to Hire Purchase agreements. Although the information was a bit overwhelming at first, I took detailed notes and made sure to ask questions whenever I needed clarification. It was a productive first day, and I felt more confident by the end of it.

On my second day, I was assigned to handle an SDN BHD account. My senior began by teaching me how to open and set up an SDN BHD account properly. Before diving into the actual work, I was introduced to three important types of files involved in the process: current files, tax files which are specifically related to preparing the SDN BHD accounts and permanent files. These files helped me understand how the documentation is structured and organized. I then learned how to input adjusting journal entries before beginning the accounting for the current year. A key part of the process was ensuring that the balance sheet and profit and loss statements in the current file were tallied accurately with those in QuickBooks. After lunch, I received further guidance on how to use client-provided documents effectively. This included comparing the bank statement with internal records and preparing queries to request supporting documentation for any unclear or missing information. It was a very informative and hands-on day that deepened my understanding of SDN BHD account handling.

On my third day, I was introduced to the process of filling out tax Form E using the Ibizz system and MyTax Portal. In the morning, I successfully completed Form E submissions for two clients. As it was my first time handling this type of tax form, I made sure to be extra careful and double checked all the information before submitting the completed forms to my tax manager for review. After lunch, I was assigned a new set of accounts to work on, this time for a business account belonging to a hair salon. Before starting, I received a detailed briefing from both my senior and the audit manager on how to handle the account properly. Following their guidance, I began by organizing and filing the related documents in the appropriate sections. By the end of the day, I had completed the filing process and gained a much clearer understanding of how to file documents in a systematic and efficient manner. It was a productive day that allowed me to apply both tax knowledge and accounting procedures in a real work setting.

On Day 4, I continued working on the hair salon account assigned to me the previous day. My focus was on updating both the credit sales and cash sales. I began by updating the credit sales directly in QuickBooks. When it came to the cash sales, I was instructed to first compile all the amounts into an Excel spreadsheet before entering them into the system. This extra step ensured that all the figures were accurate and properly organized before being updated in QuickBooks as cash sales. This process taught me the importance of double-checking data and maintaining proper records before inputting them into the accounting system. As the day progressed, I became more comfortable navigating between Excel and QuickBooks and was able to complete the updates efficiently. By the end of the day, it was a satisfying end to a productive and insightful day.

I focused on carefully updating the remaining sales data in QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout. The process required close attention to detail, especially when cross-referencing the figures from the physical sales book with the Excel sheet and system entries. After completing a good portion of the sales updates, I moved on to another tax-related task. I was assigned to fill out another Form E using the Ibizz system. Having done this once before, I felt more confident navigating the process, though I still took the time to review everything thoroughly before preparing it for submission. By the end of the day, I had made significant progress with the sales entries and successfully completed the Form E for another client, ending the day on a productive note.

For any transactions that were missing supporting documentation, I drafted queries to request the necessary paperwork from the client. I double-checked each submission to ensure they were properly acknowledged by the MyTax portal. It was a fulfilling moment, marking the completion of a critical phase of my internship involving real client tax work and tight deadlines.

Following the submission of all individual tax returns, the office environment became noticeably calmer. With the Form BE deadline behind us, I shifted my focus toward preparing accounts and tax files for sole proprietorship and partnership clients, whose due date is July 15th. My main task for the day was to follow up with these clients, reminding them to submit their business documents such as bank statements, sales records, and expense receipts so that I could begin working on their accounts promptly.

This allowed me to plan my work efficiently ahead of the July 15th deadline and prepare for the upcoming tasks related to account preparation and tax computation.
