It can be seen that the two sites under consideration are in the north and the south east of the town.

The first possible site for the shopping mall, S1, is just north of the city centre, above the railway line, which runs from the south east of the city to the north west. If it is built here,  it will be next to a large house estate, thus providing easy access for those living on the estate and in the city center. It will also be next to the river that runs through the town.

The side in the south east, S2, is again just by the railway line and fairly close to the city centre, but it is near to a industrial estate rather than housing.
There is a main road that runs through the city and close to both sites, thus good road access to either location. However, I partly agree with this as the advantages and influences on people's lives actually depends on the particular area of technology.

 There is no doubt that some earlier advances in technology have been very influential , such as those in the home. Many years ago, people invented devices like washing machines, refrigerators, and freezers, central heating, microwave, and TVs. Nowadays, almost every home has at least one of these things, making life much easier. Even though they have  been improved over time, they still carry out much the same purpose as when they were first invented.

Another example is that of medicine. Despite the fact that there have been  ground-breaking recent medical developments in recent years, such as research on genes and stem cells, the average person will not see the benefits for a long time. The most important effects on health have come from earlier technological developments that are remain today. This is why hospital can treat for many injuries and diseases and carry out organ transplants. These are what help so many people and will for decades to come.

However, if we look at some more recent developments , we can see that they have had a much greater influence than in the past. For example, when the phone was invented, it was a significant development that help a lot of people. But even though the phone was invented a long time ago, technological advances in the last few decades have made it mobile and connected to the internet. This has had incredible impacts on how people live, since phone are used for so many everyday activities and to connect with people around the world.
In conclusion, I would say that some older technological advances are important, but some new ones are too.
